This approach has been suggested by many people in addictions counselling and health care professionals. The amount of financial strain on the healthcare system is massive related to side affects of their drug use.

It would be nice if there was a roadmap to get ourselves out of this. Introducing a safe supply keeps people alive, but what's the plan to recovery and rehabilitation?

The big cities, especially Vancouver and, to a lesser extent, Victoria, have had issues with drug abuse and homelessness for decades and governments did little-to-nothing about it. Then this opioid crisis hit (in the midst of a real estate bubble) and made it multitudes worse and it started spreading to the smaller cities and towns and we're still looking for ways to prevent deaths rather than looking for ways to prevent, recover, and rehab these people back into functional members of society.

We shouldn't still be playing catch up.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer is stepping down as leader.

CBC News has learned he told his caucus the news today and is making an announcement in the House of Commons.

Sources say Scheer, who has come under intense pressure within the party since losing the Oct. 21 election, will stay on until a new leader is chosen. That might not happen until the April party convention

Is it too late for Bernier to come back and take over?

Hondaracer 12-12-2019 08:22 AM

Need Peter Mckay in now

A month and a half too late. Scheer would have been able to keep a better reputation had he resigned right after the election was lost.

With all the votes he got he would make a great choice. The guy couldn't win his own seat.

Did you see all the comments when he got married? Huff post had to shut the comment section down. They actually removed all the comments.

More than one anti Jagmeet Singh facebook group was taken down because it was full of racists.

Huma Abedin who is an aid to Hillary Clinton had people saying her family was part of the Muslim brotherhood. Something that was 100% BS.

And let's not forget this: https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/multic...mark-1.1999964

Her being born In Iran and being Muslim is going to be brought up.

Now let's enjoy some of her great music.

No thanks to the undemocratic efforts and dirty politics you apparently endorse so long as they are used against people you don't like. Your true colours shine through with every post.

whitev70r 12-12-2019 01:22 PM

Rona Ambrose is another strong possibility.

These things need to be planned and need to happen at the right time. Until then appearances need to be kept up. Mulcair took months to resign as well.

Manic! 12-13-2019 10:05 AM

Here is what I don't get. scheer made 300k a year and still needed financial help to raise his kids.

I wonder if he will pull his kids out of school and more back to Saskatchewan?

westopher 12-13-2019 11:20 AM

Funny how a party that’s based around an ideology of “if you can’t afford kids, it’s not my job to pay for them” has us paying for their kids.

mikemhg 12-13-2019 12:51 PM

Hilarious. Claims he's a simple "working man", and that Trudeau is pompous, meanwhile he was using party funds to pay for his kid's private school.

The hypocrisy is hilarious. The Conservative party is a joke.

They need to wake up and learn, this fundamental Christian conservatism bullshit does not fly up here in Canada as it does in the States.

If they don't smarten up and fix themselves to become a viable Progressive party again, they will never see themselves leading Canada, and will continue to be relegated to mere regional support in the prairies.

Glad to see Sheer gone, bring on the next crook. Apparently Kristy Clark's name is being kicked around as next leader. Hilarity.

You can't be serious. That would be faster than suicide for the Conservative name. FailFish

whitev70r 12-13-2019 02:51 PM

What's the problem here ... all Scheer needed to do was to get in front of the camera and pull a JT.

Trudeau 'sorry' for violating conflict laws with visits to Aga Khan's island
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/tru...khan-1.4458220

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has apologized for his actions after the federal ethics watchdog found he violated some provisions of the Conflict of Interest Act when he vacationed on a private island owned by the Aga Khan last Christmas season and took a private helicopter to get there.

He also promised to check with the ethics commissioner before booking holidays.

"I'm sorry I didn't, and in the future I will be clearing all my family vacations with the commissioner," he told reporters on Wednesday.
