What's the problem here ... all Scheer needed to do was to get in front of the camera and pull a JT.
But he didn't just like he didn't apologize for comparing dogs fucking to gay marriage. No one in the liberal party cared about JT going on vacation but people in the con party do care that's why they are launching an investigation. What's even crazier is on top of the 300K he was making he was staying in a mansion for free paid for by the taxpayers.
scheer complaining about JT using his own money to buy a swing set.
whoever they get to lead is in for some stiff competition for sure.
they'd really need to come with the whole package:
-crooked
-international laughingstock
-the ability to drive up the deficit while simultaneously wringing out the economy
These types of leaders don't just grow on trees you know.

@ubc_students
#UBC has cancelled Andy Ngo's event! A huge thanks to everyone who made clear to UBC the threat posed by Andy Ngo and the fascist groups he associates with and attracts. Without the widespread public outcry, this never would have happened!

We already know the left has snowflakes but the right has just as many if not more. Instead of picking one of the other thousand-plus venues in the lower mainland the people behind this event picked this venue just so they would have something to cry about.

Andy Ngo scheduled to speak at UBC on the topic of 'the threat of antifa violence'.
Discussion cancelled due to threats of antifa violence

The question you should be asking, is why should he have to find another venue?
As they say, universities are (or seemingly were until recently) the marketplace of ideas, where all ideas can be expressed and examined.
If such discussions provoke violence at what should be the safest and best place for sharing ideas, then you have to wonder if there is something wrong with societies institutions. Or you can pretend nothing is wrong and suggest other venues.

So you think universities should be some type of safe space? I think universities should be a place where people get an education so they can get a job. If you want to have a meeting have it somewhere else and leave the kids who just want to pass their classes alone.

Can't find another venue? The Clintons rented Rogers areana.
Don't like the discussion, don't attend.
Pretty simple.

Lose one venue get another pretty simple.

Why should UBC be responsible for providing him with a platform for his “free speech”?
He can go spout off whatever dumb shit he feels like, but the university has an obligation, like any business, to make decisions that benefit their operation by appealing to those that pay for their operations. Those include taxpayers, students, and other corporations and donors. I’d imagine that most of those probably aren’t interested in right wing conspiracy theorists speaking there, so they made a decision.
You don’t like it? Donate enough money to have a presentation venue named after you and make some demands.

You both realize it was a student group who paid for the booking, yes?
Have a look at UBC's policy on academic freedom. https://academic.ubc.ca/about-vp-aca...ademic-freedom
Regardless of your opinion of the content, Mr. Ngo falls within the category and has not breached their policy. Legally, he is entitled to speak their.

So?
Stop being such a snowflake and book a new venue.

Academic freedom implies academic responsibility. With the freedom to pursue any and all ideas comes the responsibility to do so honestly, accountably, openly, and fairly. UBC policies on Scholarly Integrity, Harassment and Discrimination, Fundraising and Acceptance of Donations, and Conflict of Interest and Commitment, and others, including the UBC statement on Respectful Environment, can condition academic freedom. Scholars are expected, for example, to know and follow the prevailing scholarly practices within their field of specialization (Policy 85). Likewise they are expected to act in ways that do not “undermine public confidence and trust” in the university (Policy 97).
Quoted from your link.

One student group paid for the booking. A presumably larger group of students had an issue with it.

Since we're presuming, what it looks like to me is that there was a threat of violence and the risk officer bowed to the mob.
I guess we'll find out when they get taken to court.

So now you're going to cry to the courts?

So it looks like the reason they cited was "a safety concern".
So what kind of precedent does that set? As long as you threaten violence you can have your way?
Is that a quality you'd want your kids to possess?

Manic! Welfare... you guys are starting off the year with a lot of intelligence here. OMG, I haven't heard of these fresh insights before. Why don't you both STFU ... if only someone can cancel you two here.
