For Nanaimo -- a formerly rough-and-tumble logging and fishing town -- Tilray is more than hype. In a region where 95 per cent of businesses employ less than 25 people, Tilray with some 300 employees is one of the private sector’s biggest employers, said Amrit Manhas, Nanaimo’s economic development officer.
I guess that's bullshit.

Teck Frontier was going to employ 7000 high paying workers, many being natives. Manic is proud that 300 people have minimum wage jobs in a greenhouse

They pay more than min wage.

With the NDP in charge in Alberta, it would have had a way better chance.

It generally means the market has lost confidence in the company for some reason. It does not always mean that the comany has lost its value.

Or it could be a reflection of the market in general.
I learned a new term today. 'market saturation'

Congratulations on learning a word you should have learned in high school.

The cannabis industry is new and is only going to get bigger. The oil industry is on a decline and it's not going to recover no matter how much money jason kenny spends.

There is a reason why Esso, Shell, Chevron, Husky, and Superstore sold all their gas stations. The same reason why Suncor/PetroCanada has rebranded as an energy company and has installed 50 charging stations across Canada.

Yes there is a reason.
The liberals policy of overregulating every industry to death.

You mean that Trudeau handed them a cheque for the cost? Just like they just handed Canadian Tire $3million to install 50 charging stations?

If trudeau is handing out cheques I'd probably install a couple dozen charging stations that are completely paid for by the government too. Why spend your own money if you can spend the government money. Nothing like regular peoples tax dollars subsidizing multi-billion dollar corporations!

Peak oil isn’t today or yesterday, it’s 30-40 years from now.

Let’s not use the literal single resource we have to create the prosperity we need to transition to renewable sources, rather, let’s listen to a vocal minority who don’t even know what they are protesting about how energy projects should proceed.

Imo the blame falls on govt. at every level and every party in how poorly they got that message across. If at some point they really sat down and explained to Canada as a nation that we can use our overall prosperity from fossil fuels for the good of all Canadians we probably wouldn’t be in this situation.

Congratulations on proving the point that Canada's energy sector is being decimated by poor leadership. That unemployment is up, exports are down, and GDP is down while US production continues to ramp up for overseas markets we're unable to access because..... we don't have pipelines to get our resources to tidewater!!

Isn't that mostly due to our oil sand's high production cost and the US shale oil's significantly lower production costs?

I always thought the problem is a lot bigger than just not having enough pipelines to move products.

What? You mean they aren't listening to Trudeau's empty demands?

The irony of this trainwreck (pun intended) the liberals created is that natives on both sides of the argument now hate Trudeau.

Who would have thought there'd be consequences to promising the sun, the moon and stars.
