Oh please. Don't let other people make arguments for you because you got your hand caught in the cookie jar. As stated, the motion passed unanimously and the Canadian government's position became official anyway! Trudeau abstained (and forced his cabinet to abstain, no free thinkers allowed) in an effort to wiggle his shoulders past China's colon. He tried to save face and lost even more of it, to everyone.

All his actions did was prove again what a spineless hypocrite Trudeau is. The only thing that clown actually stands for is greed and corruption. Explain to us again how all this is "sticking it to the Liberal government" when all their backbenchers actually voted for it (good), and that presenting the motion makes the Kovrig and Spavor families "livid"....

https://www.conservative.ca/cpc/ban-huawei/

Looks like the cons don't want to ban huawei anymore.

Could it because O’Toole hired former Huawei executive?

At best, the hiring is bad for optics.

At worst, O'Toole is another hypocrite.

What party can you turn to now to "stick it to those Chinese", Traum?

I still think it's funny you don't realize that money talks baby -- all these parties/officials are playing lip service to the public in terms of being "hard" on China.

It's all a facade.

In Canada, the Conservatives would still be the party that takes a harder stance against China, and my vote at the next federal eleciton will still go to O'Toole instead of Trudeau, although "sticking it to Communist China" is not the only reason, or even the primary reason for doing so.

Even if they aren't doing "what is right" and money talks, there comes a point when money talks no longer matters. Case in point is the Huawei 5G network. When it becomes a national security threat, any responsible government would have to act. IMO, the Conservatives would still have a lower tolerance for that national security threat than Trudeau's Liberals, and thus act earlier than the Liberals.

I just hope Canada doesn't get to the point where Australia was at, where you see blantant Communist Chinese propaganda all over the place, and tons of local politicans openly and disguistingly toot the CCP agenda.

The cons have an ex? high ranking Huawei employee working for them. What makes you think he is not going to push tool to let them in. Watch the money funnel in from Huawei/people involved with Huawei to the cons.

Curious, did you vote BC Liberals in prior provincial elections?

I voted for Gordon Campbell in 2005. I don't remember who I voted for in 2009 and 2013, but I definitely voted for the NDP in 2017 and 2020. At the federal level, I've also voted for both the Conservatives and the Liberals -- including for Trudeau in 2015.

I consider myself a swing voter. If the governing party is doing a good job, I am happy to keep seeing them in parliament. If it sucks or have gotten too comfortable with abusing its power, then it is time for it to go. It is really as simple as that.

Im a provincial liberal voter, but somewhat content with the ndp recently, so I cant really complain on that level.

I was also a trudeau voter in 2015, excited to see some change, but holy shit do I regret that decision. Will most likely vote O'toole in the next election, but thats really the nice thing about canada. I will probably swing between liberal and con, based on current platform, performance, and leadership. So ill give Otoole a go, and if he starts ruining shit, then I will probably swing again.

boy! i love democray and being an adult to make my own decisions

The only party up in Alberta is the NDP.

Kenny wasting tens of millions of taxpayers' dollars complaining about a cartoon on Netflix.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmon...aign-1.5952291

Quote:
Energy Minister Sonya Savage defended the work of the Alberta government's Canadian Energy Centre — or the energy war room — including last week's attack on an obscure family film during the review of her ministry's budget estimates Tuesday.

Under questioning by Calgary-Mountain View MLA and NDP energy critic Kathleen Ganley, Savage admitted that she doesn't always agree with the tactics of the CEC, but said the government needs to fight back against misinformation about the oil and gas industry.

"Not everybody is going to agree with every single tactic of the Canadian Energy Centre. I don't either," Savage said.

"The comments I heard in that cartoon were quite offensive and they're comments that have to be countered somewhere."

Bigfoot Family is an animated feature released in 2020 in which Bigfoot teams up with his son to protect a wildlife reserve from an oil company in Alaska. It is now streaming on Netflix.
Because of kenny the movie is now on Netflix's top 10 watched in Canada

2021 and the cons are still debating if climate change is real.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/con...8E3g8eg1C657vQ

Quote:
Conservatives debate whether to declare that 'climate change is real' at policy convention

After grappling with Canadians' climate concerns in recent election cycles, Conservatives engaged in fierce debate today over a policy proposal from a Quebec riding to declare that "climate change is real."

The Portneuf—Jacques-Cartier riding association's proposed policy change would add green-friendly language to the Tory playbook.

The backer is asking delegates to affirm that the party "recognizes that climate change is real" and that "the Conservative Party is willing to act."

"We believe that Canadian businesses classified as highly polluting need to take more responsibility in implementing measures that will reduce their GHG emissions and need to be accountable for the results. We believe in supporting innovation in green technologies," the policy proposal reads.

While the policy had the support of at least one caucus member — B.C. MP Dan Albas, who said "climate change is real and growing green technology will help the environment and help Canadian jobs" — a number of delegates stepped forward today to oppose it.

Huge facepalm here !!! As if you vote no on this issue, that means it's not real. Welcome back to oblivion Conservative Party ... mind you, kudos to O'Toole for at least bringing this up and trying to move the party back to center a bit.

And yesterday tool had a speech where he said "A party founded on farmers, hunters and anglers would have a “comprehensive” and “serious” plan for climate change".

This guy doesn't have control over his own party but wants to lead Canada. The cons are done. JT is going to win another election.

I also don't think a party pandering to farmers, hunters, anglers, and big oil has a chance of winning.

Slap some black paint on his face, give millions to SNC, break ethics violations more times than any PM, double the countries debt from 150 years in just 2 years without legally having a budget, but O'Toole doesn't understand your f'd up version of climate change and that's it. Typical Canadian uniformed ball licker. We're doomed to Nanaimo intelligence.

JT can do whatever he wants as long as he stands up for social issues. He could probably kill a person and still win.

You have 50 elected con members who still want to ban abortion. We live in a left-leaning country. The only hope for the cons is a LIB NDP split.

harper added 160 billion to the debt. Paul Martin was the man when it came to controlling the debt.

Wrong Trudeau man.
Regardless. Trudeau has plenty of black marks on his record, but if you have even opened your eyes in the last year, it’s absurd to try and place Canada’s deficit on him or the liberals. The fucking country closed. You can go back a shade over 100 years to see the financial issues that’s caused last time.

It was bad enough that the issue even had to be brought to the table for a disscussion on whether the party should recognize it. My jaw just dropped to the floor when I saw the news that idiots that form the conservative membership ruled it out.

How do these Conservative idiots expect themselves to get elected into office when they are denying climate change exists or needs attention? At this day and age, that is no different than refusing to acknowledge 1+1=2.

I wouldn't say this is O'Toole's fault. The Conservative members killed themselves with their own two hands.

Trudeau and the Liberals must be laughing their a$$es off today at this idiocy. Welcome to the 3rd term of Mr. Drama Teacher Blackface!
