C-10 is garbage. Can't believe some retards actually proposed it

Teflon JT gets off again ... how ??!!

Former finance minster breached law in WE Charity scandal but Trudeau cleared, says ethics watchdog
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/we-...neau-1.6024982

Former finance minister Bill Morneau breached the Conflict of Interest Act and should have recused himself from cabinet deliberations on the WE Charity summer student grants contract, given his close ties to the charity, according to an investigation by the federal ethics watchdog.

However, Federal Ethics Commissioner Mario Dion found Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who faced similar allegations, did not breach the Conflict of Interest Act.

westopher 05-13-2021 08:31 AM

The last 2 times he was found guilty of ethics violations. This was the first time he was found innocent.

Damn... can you find anybody clean in the military higher ups?

Great... so we have Kevin Falcon, recycled garbage from the Gordon Campbell era that lost to Christy Clarke, running for Liberals leadership now. As someone who has been despising the Liberals some time before Campbell resigned, I am not sure if I should laugh or be further disappointed that we only have some of the worst garbage running for Liberals leadership...

I guess my chances of voting for the NDP at the next election has just gotten a lot higher... FailFish

whitev70r 05-17-2021 02:05 PM

^ Do you have another nomination in mind? Go the ex-mayor of Vancouver for Premier route? Stewart Kennedy?

Traum 05-18-2021 11:39 AM

I haven't really cared for the Liberals Party for many, many years now, so I am not familiar with their "rising stars" at all. And seeing how disastrous CoV has been since Stewart came into office, I am just going to say that I hope his political and public service career will be over for good after he finishes his mayoral term. FailFish

westopher 05-18-2021 11:45 AM

“What did you accomplish in your term and mayor mr Stewart”
“I bought a bunch of expensive chairs once”

Wait so who did you vote for in the last Provincial election?

Tapioca 05-18-2021 12:40 PM

The old "all politicians are bad" argument...

Trudeau = bad
Falcon/BC Liberals/free enterprise = bad
Kennedy Stewart/soft-NDP = bad

I sometimes don't understand where people lie on this forum. If it's a pre-2000 society where all of the economic and social ills that have come to light today (but were always lingering) were put out of mind, there's no going back.

We have Manic on the left and welfare on the right.

Rest of us is somewhere in between except for CiC who's calling us imperial zionists.

Ipsos Poll: LPC 38%, CPC 29%, NDP 21%, Bloc 6%, GPC 5%, PPC 1%

NDP gaining on the Cons. Cons think making JT look bad will get them more votes but I just gets the NDP more votes.

westopher 05-18-2021 01:38 PM

The cons social media crew is hilarious. Their attempt at memes is absurd.
“Trudeau says you can have a 1 dose summer but he means you can have a Trudeau summer” placed over the image of someone intubated in the ICU was quite the swing and a miss.

I don't remember exactly when I stopped voting for the Liberals, but I am pretty damn sure that since Christy Clark went on the ballot, I have been voting NDP ever since. And if Falcon were to win the Liberals leadership race, I'm pretty sure my vote with stay with the NDP.

I don't necessarily subscribe to the "all politicians are bad" argument. When I criticize a political figure, there are always valid reasons to do so.

Looking back at Falcon's track record in public office, BC's social services saw major budget cuts under his stint as Minister of Finance. Personally, I attribute a lot of the mental health support and social service issues that we see now as devastating results from those service cuts.

Also, if you can please tell me one major achievement that Stewart has done during his term, I'd love to hear it. The only thing that I would call positive is City Council's approval of the e-scooter pilot project, and he wasn't the one that brought the bill to the table.

whitev70r 05-18-2021 03:33 PM

^ sidewalks of YVR are going to be sh*t show when e-scooter rentals get started. Motorized scooters playing dodge the pedestrian on sidewalk.

Motorized scooters on sidewalks ...makes my blood boil. Just today, saw an idiot on e scooter cross a red light ...makes a car with the green light stop and guy on scooter stare down the driver. WTF? Like I said, can't wait!

Traum 05-19-2021 02:05 PM

True, even though I fully support the legalization of e-scooter use on public roads, I totally agree that their rentals are gonna mess up the sidewalk.

At the end of the day, it's about civility, and I don't understand how some people can be so douchebag that they don't even know how to show a little courtesy and respect for others. If you are riding on the sidewalk, I'm fine with that! Just keep your speed suitable wrt the conditions and environment around you.

whitev70r 05-19-2021 02:15 PM

Honestly, I don't think we should have motorized scooters, bikes, skateboards, single wheel whateveryoucallit or anything on the sidewalk. Sidewalks are for pedestrian. Only exception would be people with disabilities in their motorized scooters that go like 3 kms/hr.

Bikes are legally not allowed to ride on the sidewalk, but here we are...

Majority of Conservative MPs vote in favour of defeated sex-selective abortion bill

Quote:

OTTAWA -- A majority of Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole's caucus voted Wednesday in support of a bill that sought to restrict certain abortions even as he voted it down, saying he respects a woman's right to choose.

Saskatchewan MP Cathay Wagantall brought forward Bill C-233, which sought to ban doctors from performing an abortion based on the sex of a fetus, which was defeated in a 248-82 split.

All but one of the votes cast in its favour came from the Conservatives, who have 119 members, with the other coming from former party MP and leadership contender Derek Sloan.

Premier approval numbers for June.

https://angusreid.org/wp-content/upl...miers_June.pdf

QC-66% CAQ

BC-63% NDP

NL-62% LIB

SK-61% Sask

NB-55% PC

NS-53% LIB

ON-35% PC

MB-33% PC

AB-31% PC

Conservative premiers once again carry the absolute worst approval ratings in the country. Really makes you wonder the gerrymandering going on in Canadian politics here.

A completely inept party that somehow is able to solely control almost half of the country.

CRS 06-10-2021 02:33 PM

Can't say I'm surprised. The PC has to pander to their demographic by not imposing on OuR fReEdOmS and ignoring scientists for a public safety plan.

While they can't be completely negligent, they use half assed approaches on lockdowns/safety measures which just results in pissing everyone off.

Also betting trump would win the election doesn't help.

Doug Ford

In Canada, it is not uncommon to compare the trials of political leaders to those of beloved (or loathed) hockey teams. Let this report be no exception. Just as the Toronto Maple Leafs blew a 3-1 series lead over the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the NHL playoffs, so too has Ontario Premier Doug Ford seen his position of relative political strength in the eyes of Ontarians disintegrate.
