I'm a big fan of Eby because he's a technocrat who listens (enough) but I don't see him as inspiring enough to be a Federal NDP leader. I think he struggles even as BC NDP leader/Premier - he's totally smart enough and otherwise skilled enough except he doesn't have the body language or charisma of a leader.

I think a healthy John Horgan would have wiped the floor with Rustad in the last election with his blunt everyman personality whereas Eby was on the ropes so much he was throwing stuff at the wall (like killing the carbon tax) to squeak out a win. Eby's body language at news conferences is often of the "I'm just here so they don't fine me" variety - that sorta just him though.

Wab Kinew, Manitoba's NDP Premier, seems like he has the personality to lead the Federal NDP though but I'm far more skeptical about his policy chops.

Fun Fact: Every Prime Minister since 1900 save one (Meighan) has a shitty Arts degree. None have even a business degree or a technical degree. Bunch of fucking losers who couldn't get jobs in their fields and had to become Prime Ministers.

If just getting rich is your only focus in life, then just being greedy is more valuable to that pursuit than any degree.

Did I stutter? A BA is virtually useless. You have a less than 5% chance of finding a job that is relevant to your degree with a shitty BA degree. Maybe if you are lucky and go to grad school, it increases your chances of finding a job relevant to your degree like Carney did. More often than not though, you just dig the debt hole deeper and become over qualified for a job at Chuck E Cheese.

Just LOL @ BA degrees and those who defend it Do you have a gender studies degree or something?

I think this is actually an interesting character study.

Why is it the resident conservatives here have such a cynical view about undertaking a career to help the public or their community?

This is is fundamentally how these people think, everything in their head is managed by greed, by money, the idea of wanting to do something for the better good is unheard of in their mindsets. They lack a true moral compass, they see the world as merely transactional, eat or be eaten.

Once you start to see that, you understand American politics and the type of people who are ardent Republican supporters.

I don’t think it has anything to do with that view, it’s just the reality of the situation these days.

Kids blowing vape clouds and on their phones non-stop it’s a direct comparison to nursing. A shittier and shittier profession with fewer and fewer people getting into it for the “right” reasons.

Compared to 20 years ago, how many people do you think are becoming teachers now to enact change in their community and better lives than today? Half as many?

In another 20 years from now this concept you guys are harping on won’t even exist.

Some kids will learn better outdoors, some are more physical, some are better at spatial tasks, hand-eye coordinaton, a few are poets, dreamers, and many are decent at nearly everything but excel at nothing. Like the "vaccine", a blanket approach to everyone isn't the best case scenario, at all.

2. High school is completely revamped. No more studying mostly the same shit as everyone else all day. Change it so that people who showed an aptitude for things in elementary school are given the choices to focus on what they're good at, the learning environments they excel at, and, in some cases, should be able to start working in like grade 10. An education should be tailored to the specific needs of the student, the student shouldn't have to conform to the rigid and fucking boring structure of being forced to learn the same way and take the same courses as everyone else.

Why wasn't the McBadge saved and used as an educational tool for teachers to show how to fabricate interior space, patch a boat hull, and keep the thing floating and teaching students marine law, maintenance, and weatherproofing? Certainly there could have been uses for that iconic vessel.

Teachers Unions will fight this tooth and nail, because the current system is woke as fuck and teachers drool over having more power over kids and being able to pump their heads full of woke nonsense.

The office would have every tool needed to diagnose you and the AI would be able to access a live human at any moment if needed. These facilities, open 24/7, would be placed in between a walk-in clinic and a hospital.

1a. Imagine the healthcare outcomes if you could, if you choose, use your Apple watch health data, your diet, exercise info, profession, even your self-reported stress and mental health levels, to access various services in order to improve your quality of life. Instead of construction workers burning out doing 10+ 12 hour days and then crashing completely, the AI doctor itself could contact your workplace and request days off in advance, noting your physical and mental health thresholds have been surpassed. As someone who worked in health and safety for only a year, I can tell you flat out that workers often say nothing about burnout until they're completely fucked and cannot even get out of bed a few hours before a shift.

1b. AI and robots need to become a bigger part of our lives, but doctors and the healthcare industry make so much money, they, too, will fight tooth and nail to keep healthcare expensive, scarce, and keeping them driving new Mercedes. My own mother-in-law is a specialist doctor, and, trust me, that bitch is 100% about the money and not about caring for people. But hey, she's the multi-millionaire and I'm the guy who can't afford to eat today.

2. During COVID, they found numerous interesting things, like vitamin D levels in people who died from COVID were found to be low, now, of course, did you hear anything from the government during COVID about vitamin D supplements? No. Chances are, because vitamin D is cheap. They could have sent people out, door-to-door, leaving vitamin D and other supplements for everyone to take. They don't do this because nobody is going to profit from it.

2a. Diet and exercise are so important to stay healthy, so why are all of the cheapest and most accessible foods the least healthy? Because of things like:

Lipitor, Pfizer's cholesterol-lowering medication introduced in 1997, held the record for the highest cumulative sales for many years. By 2017, Lipitor had generated approximately $150.1 billion in revenue.

You'll never hear any politician talk about taking drastically different approaches to our current systems, because they are all paid to simply placate the voters and keep the system marching on as usual.

It would take a visionary and a true leader to shake Canada out of its torpor, but when you have globalist banker elites like Carney, life-long puppets like Little PP, and your artists like the Jason Bryans of this world unable to even feed themselves or speak online, you'll simply get more of the same old, same old, with zero change on the horizon because your entire society is captured by the woke-fueled, Liberal orthodoxy.

So, you can basically just focus on making more money and being greedy for an easy life, or you can vote red or vote blue and then stomp and cry when things continue to get worse. Insulating yourself with money is the only solution outside of making art and hoping to have an effect on culture. But the gatekeepers will make sure nobody even hears you.

Good luck, elbows up!

With the Federal NDPs subterranean popularity, I'd say take any risks you can on a new leader at this point. Angry Sailor Mulcair & Creatine Cretin Singh weren't those answers.

I got to participate in a sit-down interview with Jack Layton back in 2010. He had answers for everything. No rhetoric. All meat, no fat. The NPD's torch hasn't be relit since he died.

I can't believe I didn't know he was 6'7". I had some inkling he was tall but never paid any attention to it. I did a little Googling and it seems like the Cons tried to turn his height into a story due to a podium that was built to accommodate him and shorter members of his team: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...m-bc-1.6857421

Arts degrees are so useless that someone who gets one earns about 30-35% more money over their careers than a high school grad regardless of the actual field of work they do.

The pursuit of education is, in nearly all cases, a good thing. The person pursuing it ends up making money and society benefits from having a more capable individual contributing to society. (They also tend to become less conservative.) Insulting the pursuit of education is childish.

Hmmm, 30-35% more than someone without a high school education.....B.C. min wage is $17.40. Wow, so an extra $5 more per hour? lmfao very impressive. When I was in University, my co-op was paying $35/hr. Just LOL if you are not wagemaxxing.

Honestly they would be better off being in the trades rather than going to University for the sake of being in University with a questionable career path. Especially if you are in a program that doesn't offer co-op. If they were in the trades, they would make far more money. I will always advocate for trades over the albatross of a BA degree.

Maybe if you paid a little more attention in high school, you could have been admitted to a STEM program.

Most of these BA programs tend to be pure cash grabs. It is questionable if you actually learn something of value in these programs that makes you remotely employable. They are often the easiest programs to get into and they are not remotely competitive. These degrees are so saturated and useless. Sorry pal

You stated you respected them more, not how much. When normal people pick something out of the blue to compare to, they choose things that are close together because you imply proximity.

God Tier: Mathematics, Comp Sci, Engineering, Medicine, Law, MBA
Top Tier: Business degree, Trades, Geo Sciences, Pharmacy
Mid Tier: Biology, Chemistry
Low Tier: All bullshit BA degrees
Shit Tier: Women's Studies, English, Philosophy, Communications, Relegion, etc etc

Don't have a conniption fit

Sorry pal
High school grad isn't what we'd call someone without a high school education. You are really throwing out the reading comprehension insults for someone that has that much difficulty themselves.
