Haha cool to see they get fans all the way here. They are quite famous in HK locally for the modified scene. They took photos of our HK Supra Club that night.

Got tired of commuting in a Cayman S so I picked up this Toyota Camry to daily drive.

1 owner since 2003, only 148k kms and fully dealer serviced at Openroad Lexus Richmond. Its got electronic suspension, Mark Levinson sound and adjustable PEDALS. Very comfy point A to B car

^ Great choice for a commuter. They are incredibly reliable, leather feels amazing and it isolates road noise very well. Very classy color choice too.

I can only think of 6 speed and wanting to have the car for "fun" only so you retain that special feeling driving it on weekends etc.

radioman is right. My commute is 16kms each way and there's heavy stop and go traffic during rush hour. It takes a lot of effort to drive and it gets tiring (loud exhaust, shifting, heaving steering, very stiff suspension), I worry about where to park, there's no space for stuff or people, I'm OCD about the paint and others.

The Lexus is so smooth and relaxing. Its very easy to drive. Steering is very light, the suspension is like a cloud, its very quiet inside. I can park it anywhere and I don't care as much if it gets dirty or even if someone scratches it or dings it. Its a very liberating feeling.

Don't get me wrong the Porsche is so much fun to drive when its sunny out and I'm not driving to and from work in traffic.

Assuming you dropped the caymans coverage to pleasure only. What was the price difference?

I think mine was 220/month to like 210/month last time I checked.

Spoiler!
The official second car of Scotty Kilmer.

Nothing beats a comfortable luxury daily driver with softer suspension for long highway hauls and shitty traffic jams.

People call em boring but I call them useful.
  • Multi-function HVAC
  • Seats that absorb your shoulders and your butt
  • A nice sound system to help you escape
  • Acoustic glass that isolates you from the noise around you
  • Suspension that absorbs shock rather than transferring it to your spine
  • One hand (or finger) steering when conditions are safe

We make fun of old people and their choices but their choices got them this far in life.

Haha I'm living my old man dreams. Now I know why these cars sold really well back in the day and they're still running well when compared to a Mercedes or BMW of that era.

Just wish it had a back up camera and bluetooth. Will look into adding those myself.

Comfy ride, parents had same model for a few years and was super reliable.

but man that's a shiny seat lol, time to grab some leather cleaner to get rid of all that ass sweat/oil.

on the demo, without the front plate, looks great.

Combo is rare. I think all of BC, I'm the only one with this color combo til about July or August.

That was one of the first things I did! Microfiber cloth with warm water and a few drops of dish soap took care of that seat bottom.

I also recently swapped into something a lot cushier for work.
Totally get it now - pretty relaxing feeling hopping in and across the bridge with adaptive cruise after a long day.

Pros:
  • Comfort: Ride quality is really cushy. Great visibility with the wing mirrors and sloped down windows
  • Drive: Controls (brake, steering) have natural feeling weight, and it now takes a corner with some liveliness! There's definitely some directness and connectedness - doesn't feel a sloppy couch that's rolling over itself like past Camrys.
  • Electronics: Headlights are fuck you bright, 2019 has Carplay.

Cons:
  • Powertrain: The 8 speed is quite jerky especially when cold.
  • Interior has some weird cost cutting tradeoffs as well (full auto up-down windows, but no heated mirrors until XLE trim, no trunk closing handle, etc.)

Quite like they've done with the new gen Camry. Would want to drive a 10G Accord and 2.5T Mazda 6 to see how it compares.

I have Toyota and Mazda at home, Toyota gives you the trust on reliability and comfort, for sure they cut cost on some areas in a very obvious way. Mazda put a lot of effort on interior and exterior, it feels like a high school kid with expensive suit and tie, unfortunately its drivetrain isn't impressive at all.
