I'm curious what a targa roof is like/what some tradeoffs are...
I think for me, it's the feeling of sun on the skin and wind around the legs that I really like.
Other than the Corvette and 911, not sure if there are any other targa cars?
My wife had a Del Sol ages ago, with the roof off and the rear glass down what was left was basically an oversized roll bar. Being able to pop a solid roof back on it made me realize that if I went for a removable top it'd be a metal roof or a targa, soft tops are just too annoying when they're up.
edit: I forgot to add, it was a blast to drive like that.

i've never been a ragtop guy (still not) and thought hardtops were for retirees...i'm 6 months into targa ownership
i know some want simplicity and the 360 open air feeling, in vancouver as a 3-seasons vehicle i chose metal, rearward privacy and it looks damn good hardparked with top up
the experience will vary drastically by design
an initial drawback is a MASSIVE b-pillar regardless of top up/down, but with blindspot radar and proper mirrors i haven't notice it after the first week
the most common complaint is wind buffeting on highway (think sedan with rear window down) so i keep my top up if i'm gonna be on the highway for a while...otherwise it's almost always down even in light rain, if it wasn't for the aftermarket module (one-touch/removes the low speed limit) i probably wouldn't bother on a daily basis
Spoiler!

New wheels and tires - took off the crappy, peeling, curb-rashed to Hell replica wheels and snagged a set of almost-mint OEM wheels from Bellingham for less than the local Craiglist idiots are asking for. RE71Rs from Costco (thank you penny installs/cash card rebate - and lower pricing than anywhere else).
