Its going to fail terribly just like the Kia Borrego did. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/glob...article548011/
Kia Stinger sales don't seem to be doing wee either.

KIA is also trying to move upmarket, like Mazda, but it wouldn't be an easy task.

It looks good, like many of their cars. I know too many mechanics and I would never buy one - they are sold cheap for a reason.

The Sorento sales isn't that bad in other part of the world. The Tell-You-Ride might do bad as only American would buy such a large SUV.

I was soooooo close to buying a Kia Stinger. I really liked the styling (except the tail lights), the features, power etc. But I just couldn't get over the "But... it's a Kia" stigma.
And so ended up doing a complete 180 and got a CTR lol

Does reliable include their thin tin rusting away quickly on the west coast? It reliably does that, too. https://www.auto123.com/en/news/most...reports/65249/ Quote:

BTW, the reliability reports are based on issues from people polled over the previous 12 months. I don't see many 10 year old Kias on the road.

if by 'reppin' you mean being objective and not using anecdotes from the 1990s
aren't you the one who linked the reliability report?
you call them tin cans rust buckets, please share some modern examples from the west coast

then don't make claims you can't support and get salty about it
but please keep bashing the kia...didn't people do the same about japanese imports in the 70s/80s? oh look who's on top since the 21st century...

Honda and Acura are below Kia.
For a product mix that is majority sub 35k that gives a lot of value, I would consider this pretty good. Kia has also stepped up their styling after they got the guy from Audi.
I may be biased because I drive a Kia but a few years ago I would never touch a Kia with a 10ft pole - but over the last year or so, they have stepped up and credit must be given where it is due. Niro Hybrid also has the worlds best fuel mileage in its class - that is how far they've come.

They are sub $35k cars for a reason. You still don't see many 10 year old Kias on the road. So, their 12 month reliability I'm sure is top 5.

If you De-badge Kia's and Hyundai's most people wouldn't have a clue. They have come a long way in the past 5 years. 10 years ago no thank you but I wouldn't hesitate to own one now.
Berz out.

rear torsion beam, sealed transmission, plastic steering wheel are some modern cost saving measures...an affordable vehicle does not equate to a full list of weak links
carry on purchasing over-engineered Germans with tight tolerances Quote:

People should just drive what they want. I don't think Kia and Hyundai really have a stigma anymore, although maybe I don't hang around a lot of haters
This new SUV is going right after the American competition. It is going to be hard to pull people away who think right away about Suburban, Traverse, Yukon, Tahoe... etc.
I like the look of it... and I'm sure it will be filled with tons of tech as all Kia's do.

Hyundai also has an equivalent called the Palisade. They're nice looking cars but too big for me.
Hyundai and Kia lost their stigma a long time ago. I spent my 2000's driving Toyotas but when it came time to buy a new car, Toyota spat out nothing but boring cars. I've been driving Hyundais since 2011. First a 2011 Sonata 2.0T and currently a 2015 Genesis 5.0. I even bought my parents 2018 Ioniq last year.

There's going to be a pre-production model at the auto show. I've seen it and opened it. It's a brick and pretty massive. Can't really say much about reliability, and DougDemuro just posted a review of it. MSRP 32k base, 39k usd fully loaded.
There's also going to be a Kia Forte Hatchback GT at the auto show. Also pre-production.
