Do you mean the Canadian Customs (CBSA)? That was incredibly hard to read.

The first couple times i was like, "Yeah! Premium gas is expensive! It's like 1.89!" They stopped asking me those questions LMFAO, but that might be because I go through Nexus now.

I find Costco has the least markup for 91.

My guess is Costco. But that is only a guess.

After that, my next guess would be Mobil / Esso after discounts / loyalty programs are taken into account.

Filled up yesterday at Shell. It was 23 cents difference between 87 and 91. 151.9 compared to 174.9...

Why do you not want ethanol?

It absorbs more water and you get worse mileage (E85 gets 15-25% fewer mpg) than non-ethanol blends.

My impression has always been that Shell 91, Chevron 94 and CO-OP 91 are the only E0 gas in BC.

I always felt 89 was the option for people who are too cheap to go with premium or for those who have regular cars but believe in urban myths on how adding high octane will give them increase HP but are still on a budget.

Some modern turbocharged family cars are known to increase power with higher octane. A Mazda 6 2.5T can run on 87 just fine, but makes 25 BHP more with 91, so I would imagine that 89 can also bring out a bit of extra power.

Depends on how much you drive, ethanol really isn't a problem.

I have a roommate who rarely drives his car, parks it outside and he just uses E10 87. Still haven't heard him complain about anything.

Regular E10 blend will give you about 3% less gas mileage, so unless you have a Prius, the effect is barely noticeable, and it's usually offset by the cheaper price.

I know the industry behind it is full of shit, but I also wouldn't lose my sleep over it.

Anyone been to point Roberts lately for gas? What's the prices?

BIC_BAWS 04-14-2019 01:55 AM

I'm not really sure how 89 octane gas is usually priced. When I filled up this past weekend, it was a 10¢ difference between each grade.

I've only ever seen Shell $0.20/L more than 87, but I don't venture over to the mainland much. Most other stations' 91 are $0.15-$0.18/L more than 87.

I use Shell 91 with a corporate fleet card (-$0.06/L), which I picked up through my organization's employee purchase plan, and 10 Airmiles (-$0.042/L) per 25 L, it works out to about $0.102/L more than 87 for me and cheaper than any other 91 octane. This assumes you put your Air Miles into cash miles and spend it on fuel, of course (which I do).

Just went down, and confirmed that Blaine is still $3.53 for regular. So it converts to $1.24/L.

If you factor in CC conversion rate of 2.5%, it would be $1.28.

Still way cheaper than here tho.

Good thing I have my HomeTrust Visa handy...

thanks for the info...

$3.12 USD last night for 87 at Burlington Costco, about $.82 USD/L >> $1.1 CAD/L
