Collectors status. Most of them won't be driven much.
If we discount that then it's the thrill of taming the beast. I get that feeling when driving my MR2 Turbo. Sure, a modern Camry is faster. Hell, my 5000 lbs Genesis is damn near 2 seconds faster from 0-60. The thrill comes from keeping the MR2 under control because it's going to try to kill you. If I don't know what I'm doing, even making a turn going 30kph can result in snap oversteer. Even when I get out of FordFanatic's Cobra... the car will bite your leg when you try to get out of the car if you're not careful. I have a scar from burning my leg on the side pipe exhausts. I rented a a Tesla, I didn't get the same thrill... but it's quicker.

I'm sure it'll handle good but that's a sad excuse when we are talking about a million dollar car.
Well it is what it is, unless it's full EV, it's not going to beat the P100D in that category. EV's just have that extra advantage of instant torque off the line.
It's not the most "bang for the buck", but chances are if you're in the demographic for this type of car, you're not cross shopping with a Tesla anyway.
One's an actual sports car, the other is a ridiculously fast luxury car.

I think a more appropriate competition would be the new Tesla Roaster.
0-60 or quarter miles... I don't think it matters anymore. No production car with ICE will be up to the task against Tesla. Its 1.9sec 0-60mph was quoted to be "conservative". And hypercar manufacturer Koenigsegg went back to the drawing board for their releases after its founder verified the veracity (or its possibility) of Tesla claims with its own engineers. So, it's not vaporware.
Now, if Tesla can actually get its handling right... I think what's left for Ferraris and Lambos would be the prestige...
As a Ferrari fans, I am quite disappointed for not seeing a true EV from Ferrari, while its closest competition, Lambo already embraced the idea.
It only led me to one conclusion: Ferrari doesn't YET posses a viable high performance full EV technology. Let's hope they do something in that aspect with LaFerrari successor.
Elon changed the speed game for good. I guess this is very much like a quartz watch vs a mechanical watch. Both tells time, quartz does it much cheaper and more precisely but it doesn't have the snob appeal.
Apologists would say there's an art to watch making and there is, but this whole electric car seems to be going down the same road. I for one am looking forward to the onslaught of cheap EVs and performance EVs
I dont think anyone buys Prancing Horses for drag racing times.
Yeah but that's a big part of exotic car ownership. It's suppose to be "exotic" because it can do things normal cars can't. Hell majority of the exotic car owners I know will only do minor stop light races in order to "test" their performance machines. Nobody's taking these damn things to racetracks considering a high mileage Ferrari is anything over 10k
Now if a Tesla pulls up next to you on a stoplight, you're gonna have a nervous twitch instead of that unshakable faith that you'll smoke these plebeian cars. Yeah I mean you could buy it purely as an investments, but unless it's a special model, they still lose money. 458, 488, etc. Image factor? Sure but that image has been greatly diluted now that EVs are going to trump their performance markers.

Prestige fades fast. Look at Cadillac and Lincoln. They used to be on par with Rolls Royce. Anyone who was anyone would have a Cadillac.
Once key metrics are taken away you can only limp on so long before you are forgotten.
Someone said it before. Time to buy low HP classic British cars lol. Only way to stay in a cool car and look classy. Doesn’t matter if grandma can beat you off the line in her EV.
If you want to spend millions on a car and want a EV look at Rimac https://www.rimac-automobili.com/en/ or the Pininfarina Battista that use the Rimic drivetrain.
1900 HP.

Honestly tho, where are you going to drive this thing to enjoy its potential? Maybe in Europe? What is more realistic for the Ferrari Ad is driving this thing in daily traffic going the speed limit because that's more likely. Then when the traffic light turns green you accelerate hard to hear the engine shift it into second gear then stomp on the brakes because you are way over the city speed limit.
I went up to a cute chick and asked her if she'd let me take a photo of her for $30 she slapped me, she said to me that "I AIN'T A WHORE!"
But other than that I have seen every car on display in DTP just by cruising about in Richmond, thank you very much for collecting them together and get someone to sing a cover for "fuck you".
OH FUCK YOU OH OH OOOOH~

It's literally one aspect that it's better at. ONE. 0-60 That's cherry picking pretty hard imo. Let's make that number 60-211 and see who wins? That's also a part of Exotic car ownership right?
When that Tsla rolls up to a 458 at the lights. No one gives a rats ass about the P1000, let's be honest. It's a complete snooze fest aside from that one number.
An Arial Atom is pretty damn quick for the money, but surely no one would say an Atom is better than a new Ferarri.
Lettus be real. Most super cars cannot be pushed to what they were meant to do by most owners. No one is doing laps around Stanley park sideways so the easiest spec to play with is 0-60 at a light of hwy. But if you're reducing the entire supercar down to that one spec, you're missing the entire point of the car by a mile and you bought the wrong car. If you want 0-60, I have no idea why you're not buying a Hellcat for 1/4 the price. The Ferarri driver could not care less the Tsla can get to 60, Zero point god knows what faster.
No one is buying Ferarris, Porsches etc for their drag racing NHRA heritage.
