Looks like it's hit Richmond schools.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/cana...-resignations/

Quote:

On Nov. 25, a Grade 8 student at the Richmond high school received an anonymous letter stuck on his locker after he publicly expressed his support for Hong Kong protests. The letter, written in Chinese, denounced the Hong Kong protesters and applauded China’s Communist Party and its leader, Xi Jinping.

“You are in no position to insult the Communist Party," reads an English translation of the letter, which was signed “a Chinese person.”

“Without the Communist Party, some of your ancestors probably couldn’t make it to Hong Kong alive. … Your so-called democracy is a pile of crap.”

The letter, a photo of which was obtained by The Globe and Mail, said China’s President isn’t a “weak chicken” and his purpose is to unite the country.

“Insulting our dearest motherland is absolutely not allowed because your so-called uprising isn’t righteous but evil,” the letter says, stating that it doesn’t aim to threaten the student but to give him a history lesson.

Mr. Sadler said that the high school had investigated and disciplinary measures had been taken, but he did not elaborate.

In the other dispute, a student was caught-up in a fight after he talked about why Hong Kongers are fighting for democracy and freedom in social studies class. The student shared his experiences in a Facebook group formed by Hong Kongers in Canada, but the post has been deleted.

Ah yes, my alma mater. Back in ‘07 IIRC of the 250 students in my grad class, 50 were Not Chinese (that includes everything else). Though I’m sure most Richmond schools are like that now adays

Footage of one of these guys:

hi-revs 12-16-2019 06:56 AM

^geez. Turned the guy into a zombie. Likely some serious mental health issues.

SkinnyPupp 12-16-2019 07:02 AM

I don't want to spend more than 5 seconds trying to imagine what they might have done to the guy

Oh and the 3 million others like him

But yeah, people shouldn't be concerned about this. Teens, just think about your acne and boners. Adults, just your head down, and worry about making money. Everything went fine last time this happened in the 1930's.

Adults should but kids should be kids... we don't even teach them to think critically until english 10

Regardless of sides, we are just brainwashing them.

That fucking chinese rant ain't written by some grade 8 kid, some parent definitely wrote it for them :lol

1930s is when you go overboard with sanctions and pushed a whole nation of people off a cliff. The entente was basically the popo beating up germany even though she was lying on the floor half dead.

SkinnyPupp 12-16-2019 09:04 AM

Kids are finally becoming aware of shit going on around the world, whether it's this or climate change. The flow of information - "the internet" - is finally being used to progress society.

But nope, the status quo must be maintained. Kids need to be "kids". Let the "adults" do their thing, and ruin the world, ruin the kids' futures.

No wonder "ok boomer" exists LUL

Not sure if it looked the same since '07, but in 2014/2015, the corridors that meet the center of the school between the science labs and the caf, was always packed like sardines at lunch. In the sea of asians, there were only two white kids.

At grad, I'm pretty sure the grad class was a lot bigger than 250, but surprisingly the proportion was roughly 70% asian / 30% not chinese.

But are the kids actually in the know or just enraged by the shit from reddit hong kong. Its like telling kids to watch fox all day every day, that kid gonna end up a trump supporter regardless. Climate change shit has started when I was in high school 10 years ago, remember earth day to shut off all your lights? What happened to critical mass?

Is it really though? All I seem to see is people who just believe the first headline they read without doing any sort of critical thinking, and then forgetting about it a week later anyways.

It drives me crazy when the mother in law, a coworker, or other rando person makes a statement that starts with I saw on youtube or i read online that and now they're adamant that whatever they just said is the truth and now they will stop doing something or do something differently because of it. For example someone the other day said i read that ketchup is really bad for you and has all this stuff in it therefore i'm no longer using ketchup ever again. Can people not try to verify things a little further before coming to a conclusion. One video or article and that's it, lives changed forever? insane!

p.s. i have no idea if ketchup is bad or not lol

I'm in HK for the last bit and its SAFE as FUCK.
Nothing is burning, there ain't crazy shit going on.
However, the last 2 countries, 5 cities + 20 different tourist / foreigners were SHOCKED i'm going to HK. Extremely sad the news they watch has totally fucked Hong Kong over as everyone seem to think it's a war zone here right now.

My wife reads lots of those things, especially when it comes to the kids health. I always make her go find more sources or research the claims, or critically think about the "spin" of the article before accepting things as gospel. lets just say, 9 times out of 10, she's happy i've made her dig deeper.

Can you see if the Hermes AD has a birkin in Togo leather size 35 and a neutral colour ? K thx bai

6793026 12-17-2019 11:51 PM

^ dude, it's so easy now to get a birkin now. I was JUST talking to my bff and asking about retail. expected to have 700 stores closing down after xmas (to skip new years + skip having to pay bonuses eg// 13-14 mths salary if u're familiar with this culture).

the line up is really short so as long as u're buying a few Hermes, you can get the birkin now. They are PROACTIVE asking and willing to msg you to let you know stock in available.

Last yr, my X and i were at Chanel, DLS, it literally look like a veggie stands at old dirty markets. I was ignored cause I look like a honger. My X was mainland china, she got served and got a few things. This year, even when i got in, I got escorted around as if I'm a vip guest. Totally diff. environment now.

I'd argue that nothing has really changed with people or education, it's just more obvious how much people don't know because of the internet. Back in the day people did the same thing with a newspaper article as they do now with a web article.
