Xi has taken China back to about 1992 so far... It'll be 1988 soon, and backwards from there

Didn't think it was going to be voted thru that's impressive, having said that though, it's not going to change anything, even if they took it to the icj China will just snub their nose at it

Nothing would really change, it just provides those who want to leave and can leave an easier chance of actually being able to do something.
There's going to be capital flight and brain drain.

It has the effect of them isolating themselves further and further from the rest of the world. They're walking (running.. sprinting) straight into another cold war.
Most of China's top earners have built ties to free countries around the world. You know this if you live in one of these places like Vancouver.
Once they go backwards to certain point, they'll bail and will live in these places full time. Like evofire said above - capital flight, brain drain. Their economy will collapse.
With their economy inevitably collapsing under this tyranny, it's just a matter of time before they're back to being 1960's china. The reliance on manufacturing and export will no longer exist. The new middle class that came out of nowhere will either have to become farmers again, escape to other countries, or revolt. Or end up in prison/re-education camps.
Like I said before, I used to predict this as an inevitability in the next 20 years, but Coronavirus and Hong Kong have accelerated this to happening all within a year. It's mind blowing really.

But you are Very very disconnected to what’s going on inside China. It’s people and it’s economy and the view of the majority inside the country
This post sounds very much like the rando disgruntled “CCP will die” shill on twitter that is base on their own fantasy and bias rather than reality.
On another note. The national security bill is suppose to chase off investment in Hong Kong. What I’m seeing is a renew strength in the Hang Seng index along with a very tasty list of Chinese IPO that would otherwise been in NASDAQ precovid.
Very interesting development. Despite all the hate on China and Chinese company. There is still a lot of attention, interest and volume on the chinese tickers that are listed oversea. I have a sneaky suspicion that China is going to encourage their most valuable companies to List in Hangseng and to delist from the western market to attract capital into Hang Seng.

I am not saying what I WANT to happen. I am not "disgruntled" and I do not hate China. I love China and I feel very bad for the MILLIONS of people who are getting screwed. I love America and I feel bad for them too.
If there are people making lots of money on the stock market right now, good for them. I'm sure the top 0.01% of the population can come away relatively unscathed, and they don't have to worry about very much. I hope they are only risking money they can afford to lose and still come away with the ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. Hope you didn't invest in Luckin coffee |

| First round of sanctions are being enforced already - Visa restrictions on current and former CCP officials who are "believed to be responsible for, or complicit in, undermining Hong Kong’s high degree of autonomy"
This includes family members, so those who were looking to keep a backdoor open will have that closed.

Yup. Hong Kong no longer exists. China is intent to re-enter the dark ages, and they're taking HK along with them.
Tomorrow might be a blood bath. If they introduce the law today, they could very well bring tanks in to mow protesters down. They have given up on the facade of a "high degree of autonomy"
It's all over

Click in for the thread to read quotes from someone who had their village destroyed near Beijing, and when people fought back, cops went in to clear it out Quote:
“Things have been getting gradually worse in china, like frogs cooking in hot water. Everyone up to now has just tolerated it, but I think people are not doing better than they were before Xi. Lights at end of tunnel just illusion.”
|
But remember, you can make money on the stock market right now, if you already have money. So everything is just fine |

If I broke/committed a crime in HK and it is again HK law/policy why will I be trail in China using China law/policy. Since HK and China law and policy is very very different. Not to mention in China there are no law and policy lol.
The foreign report agency have ask the HK gov to promise that all foreign reporter won't be affected by this new law yet the HK gov have yet to give an answer. So basically if you are a foreign reporter and reported something HK/China gov don't like you can be arrested and sent to China to trail. Also if you are a foreign working in HK you can also be arrested and sent to China. As long as they just "claims you are breaking the security law" (like the two Michael's in China currently). Literally people need to gtfo of HK ASAP.
I could be in HK posting this on RS and get arrested because I am posting something that's against this new security law and be sent to China.
