RSers living in HK posting anti-China stuff should watch out from now on |
:heckno: Quote:
Anyways I wonder what happens now if we go back to HK and they check our phone and find out we posted/comment something negative about the HK/China gov online/fb/IG/reddit. Will we be deny entry/lock up in jail because of this new security law like in China? Will we have to use a dummy phone with only basic apps (google service, what's app, wechat) install only? Also what happens to all the people who been protesting since last year? Will they get arrested due to the security law now? Will the seek refugee status from US/Canada/UK? |
Hey look happyslip's wife let him back on RS Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk |

HKers are granted refugee status in the US UK is also setting up to allow BNO passports to give full residency Taiwan is also taking in refugees Japan says they will take the bankers |
Also it doesn't matter if you break this law outside Hong Kong. If you do something outside HK, then come here, you will be arrested |

You're pretty vocal over here, which is great, but I'm wondering if you're putting yourself at risk? |

Based on what I can tell, I'm not breaking any of these laws But who knows? :heckno: I'm not that worried about myself personally, more that HK is dead. I knew that was always going to happen, which is part of why I wanted to live here starting in the early 2000s. But I'd thought I'd be in my 60's by then, and retired living somewhere else in the world (preferably with a beach) BTW this is the best explanation of it that I've seen so far. It's tough because it's so vaguely worded that you can't REALLY tell what can be considered a crime or a "serious" crime. |

The fact that Ur Canadian, and vocal (online anyway) they might frown upon it, especially since they're grumpy with Canada rn |

Like those sex tourists from Canada that committed crimes abroad |

You could never set foot in HK all your life, but commit these crimes from home, and when you get here you can be arrested. |
Here's another breakdown of the law (thread) And another |
rip HK Anyone knows why there were so little protest over this in HK? The protest was so intense last year over the extradition bill...which seems like a slap in the wrist vs death penalty |

It's nothing official yet anyway |
is there gonna be a poll in hk: 1. 2014/2019 protests backfired, we lost a very basic freedom 2. protests were in vain, beijing was gonna crackdown anyways 3. at least we fought, and fought hard sounds dramatic but this feels a bit like fall of saigon what was anticipated to happen over 10-20 years seem to have changed in mere months |
