You won't last long at Apple/Telsa? MS if you say F U Steve Jobs, Elon and Bill Gates and their leadership.

How's that different if you work at your job if you don't listen to your leadership. The movie, American Factory, fired those who wanted to start a union....

So.... how do you expect mr Joshua Wong to run for leadership / gov't if you are here to "go against" China while being influenced by anti china backers. Of course China is going to cock block you. What do you expect.... welcome you with red carpet?

It's one thing to be working at a company or your employer happens to be the gov't. If you don't agree with your employers in some terms, you can be critical and still work there, or you can leave for another job that fits you better.

But as a citizen... do you have a choice?

That's why our charter of rights and US' equivalent constitution amendments protect us from being critical to our gov't and our leaders, because ultimately, we... the citizens own the country. And it's US who put politicians in power. We can never be prosecuted by saying whatever the fucked up thing one can come up with about our gov't. It's OUR RIGHT to do so.

China's law is fucked up on so many levels and you can't justify in any way.

The CCP is so insecure of its leadership that it can't tolerate even a tiny bit of complain or difference.

They said 1C2S... when in fact they never truly allowed that to happen.

You don't work for the Liberal Party if you have divergent views, you can align yourself with the opposing parties to facilitate dialogue.

The "government" in HK is supposed to have representatives that also facilitate a robust dialogue in policy decisions.

Completely absurd arguments

Using that to justify racist behavior against Chinese and other Asians (cuz they all from Chyna rite?). A couple years ago I saw graffiti over a Peaceful Restaurant sign that said something along the lines of "Free the Uyghurs" - no doubt because it's a Chinese restaurant and run by the CCP right? The narrative's obviously been supplanted by Covid but it's a slippery slope of logic when facts are skewed that way.

The whole narrative of CCP gutting and torturing people was started many decades ago by Falun Gong follower and its associates (Epoch Times etc).

The way China censor stuff and it need to control the narrative on everything kind of just flames the fire and doesn't at all help themselves look better to the west. But there really isn't any concert evidence (the piles of bodies) to support Epoch Time's claim. Then again Epoch times has also claim some crazy shit with no evidence back it.

Until China comes clean, there is no way to know to what extend China has prosecuted their minority citizen and with the way things going China is completely content with the rest of the world thinking whatever they want to. China knows they are successful in controlling the narrative inside their own country and thats all they care really.

So who know it may or may not have happened. Until China open the channel of communication and stop with their crazy censorship, the truth will never be known.

I wouldn't really use US politics at the moment. Look at the shit show with the BLM movement in Portland to people wearing masks.

Bytedance does funding round just like any other startup. After it’s last funding round it was valued at approximately 75b US. So if Microsoft or whoever really does buy Bytedance for 50b. It’s a steal compare to its valuation, If Byatedance wasn’t chinese and wasn’t dealing with this national security issue. Forcing a deal like this is borderline criminal and should be challenge in court.

List of investor that invested in Bytedance made up of just as much non chinese investor as the Chinese ones.

Notable non chinese bytedance investors:
Goldman Sachs
Bank of American
Barclay
KKR inc
Softbank
Hillhouse

The list goes on and on, along with notable Hong Kong based investment groups as well as ofc Mainland Chinese ones.

China doesn’t just “get” the money. That not how it works. And as the President of USA you cannot request a kickback to facilitating a business deal (looking at you trump).

SkinnyPupp 08-06-2020 07:53 PM

It's such a badly worded order, that we have no idea what the actual implications are. Because there are tons of companies who have "transactions" with Tencent and partial Tencent ownership, but aren't actually controlled by them.

Edit, looks like only WeChat and TikTop are affected

So far all the US sanctions have been passed by senate and congress with full bipartisan support, nearly 100%.

However, here's a new one from King Cheeto himself

Has China got some control over every major game company now?

Not really control, but a lot of partial ownership. The exception being Riot game. But there's a lot of indirect control; if a company wants their game/movie to be able to play in China, they can only cater to that market.
