Ya if you look at the few posts prior, and 679s post you see protesters were fighting with regular passengers, seniors were getting assaulted with umbrellas, then one senior pulled out a hammer, and then the station got closed, and your video is after police arrive

A whole bunch of fucked up, such a mess

I THOUGHT it was because of this Prince Edward video: old man in blue defending / fighting other passengers, but it doesn't seem like it, maybe different side of the same train (highly doubt it)?

The PPRB and spokeswoman have been using this as an excuse for the cops being brought into the MTR. They pretty much responded within a few minutes after the incident (unlike the 39 minutes during the Yuen Long Triad attack).

Their response = bring in dozen of raptor cops full gear, baton, rubber bullet guns and pepper spray to go ape shit in a public transit cart full of regular passengers until they can somehow find the culprit? :rukidding:

Never really crossed my mind. Could be. I found it interesting it was the only video I've seen on FB (maybe due to my feed) of people throwing fire bombs.

Very good video, 1st time I saw the pre-attack of the pepper spray and cops arresting post shutting down the station.

Regarding the MTR police violence at Prince Edward station, I will refrain judgement until I see the 1,2,3 minutes leading up the cops so violently barging in.

OH.... HK news just reported they are shutting down MTR station (Prince Edward) as a "crime scene" and not allowing reporters to report.

There was a scuffle between some protesters and some older citizens, due to the trains being delayed and skipping stops. This dude got slapped and pulled out a hammer and started swinging

Someone pulled out the fire extinguishers and started spraying...

https://i.imgur.com/FWVF8ab.jpg

My guess is that it broke up at this point, and then the cops came in and made arrests. It's possible that they were going to show up anyway, and this fight is just a convenient excuse for them. Actually in the videos, before the terrorism takes place, you can see good arrests being made. Chase the suspect, tackle them, arrest them, move on. But for some unknown reason, the cops decided to just start beating on random people before retreating.

Nobody is going to remember the burning barricades, or the scuffle with the hammer guy, or the good arrests being made. It's all going to be these unfortunate citizens.

I have a friend who was on that very train. She got the fuck out of there when it stopped... It's crazy to imagine that if she'd panicked like the people we see in the video, she could have been attacked by cops as well.

? that video shows what happened prior to the pepper spray. the cops go ape shit inside the train at 1:44.

at 1:08 you see a cop spray bombing pepper spray at at the escalator jammed with people and some look like they are regular passengers within the pack (no masks, no umbrella).

I'm all for the cops looking to find the person who initiated the fight, but you don't go ham in front of everyone in a public train station. Imagine, this could have been your relative or yourself inside this train.

bobbinka 08-31-2019 05:54 PM

My guess is that the calls for police stated that people were swinging pipes and hammers, or that people were being attacked. So police came in hot.

In one of the videos, you can see the police order a few reporters to open their bags to show them what's inside. Perhaps trying to identify attackers, protestors, or just look for weapons.

Nonetheless, very poor execution on the police's part. The station was shut down, the trains weren't moving, the police flooded the station and would have blocked the exits. The people had no where to go. It was completely unnecessary to barge in swinging.

One of the videos also show one of the officers turning on his flashlight (by his head) so that reporters can't film/identify him, before he goes into the train swinging.

to be fair... Prince Edward Station is directly below MK Police Station as in Exit A and B come out directly in front of cop shop...

regardless... cops did the same thing as the Yuen Long attack...

Just a couple of quick observations from today:

- In at least 2 videos that I saw today, petrol bombs were thrown by people dressing up protesters (clad in black and full protester protective gear). However, an interesting detail on the petrol bomb thrower is they were also wearing a red or blue blinking beacon. Such a detail is seen on the HK police officers quite commonly throughout the protests so far, be it a uniformed officer, a riot police, or on the disguised police who had previously arrested protesters and beated on them. Generally speaking, this type of blinking beacon is not worn by protesters because they do not want to stand out, or have means of getting themselves noticed or otherwise identified. There have already been previous accusations of police going undercover, stiring up sentiments and shxt, and even vandalizing to rile up the protesters. The police have always denied this, but given how often the police have lied to the public -- they are basically lying everyday at their daily afternoon press conference now -- I would not believe a word they say, or take what they say at face value anymore. I think there is strong evidence to suggest that the incendiary bombs might be thrown by undercover officers trying to rile up the protesters, so that the police can justify rolling in on hard crackdown, or to provide the HKSAR CEO to declare a state of emergency.

- In the Prince Edward station incident, the blue-sided elderly dude had struck / hit a reporter in the midst of the on-going quibble. This was the trigger point that pissed off the protesters, and the clashing escalated from there.

- A recurring theme that I noticed today, and had disgused me to no ends is how the police have repeatedly denied first aiders / paramedics access to treat the injured. It doesn't matter whether the medical personnel is a volunteer first aider, St John Ambulance staff, or an actual full fledge paramedic. All of them have been denied access to treat the injured, or at least make them wait for an unacceptably long time -- any extra and unnecessary delays are unacceptable when it comes to medical assistance. This really disgused me. I'd like to see how those crooked cops would feel themselves if they or their loved ones are denied medical access even though it is available.

- The police association spokesperson has only just made a public request a day or two ago, asking people to not bully kids from police families. And then today, all kinds of different cops are beating on young protesters, including some as young as 12. If this is not hypocritical or disgusting, I don't know what is.

SkinnyPupp 08-31-2019 10:37 PM

If you guys want to see the scuffle that led to the cops showing up, you can see the whole thing here

https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1232159630319881

It starts out as typical HK style squabble and cursing, but then gets physical. Once umbrellas and hammers start swinging, it disperses.

Then the cops show up, make some arrests (again, I have no problem with that - there are people out there breaking the law)

But what they did after.. From blocking paramedics (both volunteers and actual paramedics) to.. well what I posted last night. That will haunt my mind forever, especially the guy screaming

BIC_BAWS 08-31-2019 11:04 PM

Fuck watching the video of the medic begging to be let in to help people absolutely broke my heart. The system is so fucking broken. These cops need to be held responsible or refused treatment. Both is not going to happen. This is so fucked up.

6793026 09-01-2019 12:41 AM

I can understand not allowing people within a facility due to safety. Gun violence lock down or fights within a club (weapons and esp with guns), premise has to be deemed safe before letting medics / cops in.

Reporters and press I can sort of understand; anyone wear a freaking yellow helmet with an iphone call themselves a reporter, there is no time to verify if they are real or not.

My whole issue is... were these real HK paramedics not allowed in? I can't keep track cause these people all below are all "protest medics" whatever that means.

undercover cop?

SkinnyPupp 09-01-2019 05:36 AM

No, that's an airsoft gun. That isn't to say it's not a cop, but it's not evidence that it is.

There's a post on reddit showing the same guy in another picture. It's definitely the same guy, and people are saying that it's a picture of him arresting someone. I can't tell from the picture.. To me it looks like he's just chucking another molotov. I want to see clear video of this dude arresting someone before I believe he's a cop.

StylinRed 09-01-2019 09:08 AM

These protesters refusing to believe they're asshole too are a bit much

Badhobz 09-01-2019 10:06 AM

I wonder if it'll impact that Lee hom concert my friend wants to go see. She's crazy!! Who wants to go to Hong Kong right now???

6793026 09-01-2019 10:40 AM

I support the protest, all the peaceful marchs. Most of the times (big protests) 3 months ago, people just went and got it done. Last 4 weeks, they clamped down on ensuring it's approved by the police to at least gather; which most of the time led to overflow protest.

This time I'm pissed, people were gathering without cause; main goal & intent was to "stress test" the airport traffic.

I don't want to blindly believe this shit anymore from one single side

One side of me wants me to believe these protestors are CCP backed, the other side wants to believe that some protestors are just morons.

The reasons why the people hate the MTR company right now is because 75% of it shares are owned by the government and manipulated by the government + the police for the pass few months. (Shatin Incident 714) MTR decided to close the Shatin Station so the protestors weren't able to leave Shatin after a legal protest. Many of them were trapped inside the Shatin mall which led to a massive brawl between the cops and the protestors. (Yuen Long incident 7 21) MTR purposely opened the trains doors and stopped it services so the gangsters can do whatever they wanted (keep in mind that there weren't any protests in Yuen Long at that time).
Also, There were couple of days that the MTR closed some of it stations to prevent + make it difficult for people to go to those legal protests. And so much more..

SkinnyPupp 09-01-2019 06:08 PM

Yup the government made MTR a target. They were seen as 'the good guys' for a while, but once they started manipulating things to go against the public (literally the opposite what what they're supposed to do) now the more radical protesters are going to fight them.

StylinRed 09-01-2019 06:27 PM

The MTR isn't a person lol, to even consider it a target, or even something that's on "our side" or "theirs" is crazy

Badhobz 09-01-2019 07:12 PM

Government institutions helping the government. Big fucking surprise there.
