Unless you're saying the pro-democracy group has a new tactic of paying Nepali gang members to brutalize their own leaders.
I remember awhile back (last year I think) one of the anti CCP councillor claims he was kidnapped and was tourtune for several days and he claims it was the pro CCP people who kidnapped him and use staples on his legs. Turns out it was just a bunch of lies and he staple himself and injury himself trying to paint the pro CCP a bad image. So anything is possible.
Jimmy Sham, organizer of many protest marches, was attacked in the streets by 5 CCP paid thugs with hammers. Already 2nd attack on him since the protests started.
So much for the momentary peace. I guess Carrie Lam forgot to pass the memo to her CCP stooges to stop stirring shit.
Like I said, this is the shit you'd expect from the CCP shitbags.
I'm more wondering about the picture ... hell, that could be anyone or a hundred different scenarios.

His skull is fractured. It was observed by multiple live witnesses. So yes he used a hammer on himself to possibly give himself permanent brain damage.

Oh he could of hire people with hammers? Hammer don’t have eyes. One slip and you brought yourself a fracture skull.
Hong Kong is basically at war right now. Any one side gets injure, the finger is automatically pointed towards the other side.
Not saying that’s what happen. But you want to gain sympathy for any cause by physically setting yourself up for harm. This is the time to do it and have the entire city back you on a Lie.
I could think of a hundred other objects that could be used and not shatter ones skull and cause permanent brain damage like that.
"Here hit me on the head with these shafts that have pin point heavy steel edges" to make it look realistic. An aluminum bat to the arms and legs is weaksauce.
So not only are they evil, they are stupid as well.
Watch out for agents provocateur who may attack Muslim businesses and properties as fake retribution to frame HK people. The citizens aren't blaming Pakistanis or anyone else for this. They know the communists just hired some thugs to do their dirty work.

I can understand sports/gaming associations wanting to remain neutral/non-political they're meant to be an area where everyone comes together, sets aside their differences, and build positive relationships, It's the very ethos of sports, so anything which inhibits that should be discouraged.
Blizzard has been excessive in how they've responded though, especially with banning commentators/streamers, and revoking prize money
Later that week, American University’s three-player Hearthstone demonstrated in their own way, by holding up a sign that said “FREE HONG KONG, BOYCOTT BLIZZ” during a match. When a punishment from Blizzard to similar to Blitzchung’s was not forthcoming, the team voluntarily dropped out of future tournaments. Now, they’ve been officially banned for half a year.
Seems like they wanted to get banned. No sympathy from me for poking a bear
Info: the cops that were caught red-handed torturing/beating a patient in the hospital room brought in two extra cops at the cour hearing to "try to" confuse the reporters.
Of course, right away the apple daily reporters ID'd the real cops and people are calling out these coward cops and the Police Association as no better than triads.
Adam Silver: Chinese Government Asked NBA to Fire and Discipline Daryl Morey
JENNA WEST8 HOURS AGO
As the fallout from the controversy between the NBA and China continues, commissioner Adam Silver addressed how the Chinese government responded to Rockets general manager Daryl Morey's tweet.
"We were being asked to fire him, by the Chinese government, by the parties we dealt with in government and business. We said there's no chance that's happening. There's no chance we'll even discipline him," Silver said at the TIME 100 Health Summit on Thursday.

sorry to say, there are always bad cops and good cops. Sucks to see this; however, even the protesters are bias. 80% are peaceful, its the 20% who are the bad apples which gets the most attention on the news.
I can sympathize why there are bad cops; the cops are saying they are working 18-36 hrs straight... man..that sucks.
I know you ignored my NY Times article about Silver when this first happened (even replying to say you didn't read, which was a fail for you), but he deserves major props for standing up to China. They even backed down from him, something they rarely ever do.
Unfortunately some of his players are showing just how stupid humans can be, but he should get respect. NBA is going to be a 'battlefield' for a while now.

You think 20% of 3 million people are rioters?
There's probably like 50 or 100 "bad apples" going around vandalising things. Maybe 200 now that China continues to provoke. And who knows how many agents provocateur on top of that...
