There is heat transfer issues as well, but yeah, it leaks or it doesn't, and shittymoto products leak. They also fit poorly and the welds look like they were done by a blind, one handed sloth.
The plastic/aluminum, OE/aftermarket comparable are:
Thermostat housings
Expansion tank
Radiatior necks

Aluminum thermostat housings have casting issues and are usually warped right out of the box.
Shittymoto expansion tanks just don't fit
The plastic rad necks are resilient until you have motor mounts that are beat to shit. If the motor shifts way too much on acceleration it will crack the rad neck.

Cooling components being a wear item pulled me away from getting an E46. But there are days that I regret not just biting the bullet and getting one when I found out the 4Runner I bought was a turd. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for BMW.

Just like how everyone runs xyz Michelin tire. Don't mean it's good. Just good marketing.

The ET is weird tho, it has this weird overflow hose, which in turn creates an air lock in the system. Pressure tested the ET and the ET cap doesn't actually hold pressure LOL.

Fuck Mishimoto.

I guess everything on BMW is an maintenance item l that repeatedly breaks lol. Like water pump, timing belts that you're supposed to do at 100k.

Cooling system, window regulators, gaskets, door handles, they even want you to replace their OEM emblems

I currently have a Burger Motorsport intake that needs cleaning.

It has a blue cone filter.

I know K&N sells a cleaning kit but it comes with a red oil spray.

Any alternative solutions that I could pick up locally? Quick Google search shows I could use a BBK or S&B cleaning kit.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Or any shops locally that carry Burger Motorsport products that I can pick up a replacement cone filter

The red oil spray is nasty. Screws up the MAF on some cars.

Is your filter even oiled or a dry flow? You don't need the red stuff if it's a dryflow.

It appears to be oiled according to burger Motorsport

What would be a better alternative? Is it just the K&N that's bad or other brands like AFE also screw up the MAF?

So im going to redo my e36 m3 cooling system again and was going to go Mishi. Should i just go OEM again and just do a fan delete or stay clutch fan? I replaced the motor and trans mounts this year.

When I did the cooling system 4 years ago I didnt do the motor mounts. The motor rocked and the fan got chipped this past summer

Say no to mishi. Garbage products.

Clutch fan (new) has better output of CFM. The e-fan is cleaner, defs don't get that weird clutch fan vaccum cleaner noise, but less CFM.

Given the last heat wave, on my E36 M3 I stuck with a new clutch fan. It still made that noise.

I believe you can get the diesel fan blades (11522243303) which are sealed off and have a lower likelihood of it snapping or cutting due to bad motor mounts. Aka not a ticking time bomb.

If I still had my E36 M3 I'd do a euro cooling mod.

Stay away from Mishimoto. If you're thinking about a Mishimoto, pony up the extra $30 or whatever for a CSF, or just go with OEM.

I just use it without the oil. The cleaner is fine.

I THINK some filters need oil, some don't.
