Of course, because he's a mod of VCC and has the power to delete posts/comments that he doesn't agree with.

Ok, recently imported the funny car for 19 grands (auction fees+car), when it landed it costed 22-23(customs duty port fees), to licence and pass inspection 24-25(make DOT complaint). Yep, that is why i do it myself, a bit of gambling, but no one guarantee you anything anyway and old car is still old car. MR2 traveled on a flat bed to home (ECU capacitors), bad wheel bearing, rusted exaust + fresh tires, aluminium coffin's cooling system was full of rust + fresh tires. Even Chaser with 30k on odo had leaking shocks + fresh tires. Generally was lucky.

The only pain is customs visit and inspection. But if you know what to do question of 3-6 hours and you pick up yourself from a port, which is fun part as you get surprise basically.

Is this part of the reason why I see so many old JDMs with Toys R Us interiors selling for high teens / low 30s? Are they, too, people who made a retarded decision based on fanboyism and are now regretting it?

I've imported a couple of cars for my personal use over the years. The process isn't that hard once you do it a couple times. If you are able to find a reliable agent overseas that can deal with the Japanese side of things for you, that's even better. There are certain costs that you can't get away with even if you don't go through a local dealer. Basically everyone who has to do anything with the car the moment you decide to bid has to get paid. Typically, your agent, agent in Japan, local Japan transporters, selling dealer or auction house in Japan, vehicle shipping company, receiving company at Canadian docks, local cdn transporting company, cbsa/government, icbc, provincial inspection/repair facility, vehicle brokers, banks, foreign currency exchange, all the people processing the paperwork, everyone needs a cut. All this gets added to the winning bid price of the car. If you add a local dealer into the mix, then the amount of parties that needs a cut pretty much doubles. Basically, for anyone wanting to import, the more leg work you are willing to do, to cut down on the amount of people that needs a cut for their services, the less money you will need to spend to get your car landed. Real PSA: All dealers are scammers. Over promise, under deliver. Every single one.

$40k down, I can get you a lease on a MP4-12C for less than a new 7 series.

I will work with a software engineer and make this work in the 650S or MP4-12C.

People should just leave the group if a mod/admin is scamming. I got kicked out of the e36 group on FB for calling out the Admin for lying about dealer costs and availability of parts lol.

Too much power. I've seen it on a MK4 Supra group in the US which was run by a flipper and his friends. They would use admin powers for all sorts of ways to make money and screw others out of deals.

F**k Facebook.

Thats exactly it. The more people involve the more it cost. The overhead of a dealership is insane. Not defending Matt but complaining that a car dealership is $$$$$ comparing to doing it yourself is the most pointless argument in the world. I think most people realize that you can import a car for alot less but when you go to a dealership you are expecting all of that to be taken care of for a price. The surcharge goes to upkeep the business and paying the salary of all those that work for said business. Who know one of those guys might turn around and spent money at a business that you own or you work for who also up charges to keep the machine ticking.

Canada economy as a whole is a service economy. I'm sure Applewood has done their homework and priced their cars appropriately to make sure everybody in the corporation get pay accordingly. And there is an insane amount of people and resource that goes to running a dealership.

Matt may have done a piss poor job explaining all the fees etc that lead to this guy thinking he got screw. But if anything happens to Matt and he gets replaced. Guess what Applewood is still going charge what they charge.

Don't like being overcharge? Well you can definitely take on the headache and do it yourself. And some people do. The reality of running is business is some people are going to be unhappy. There are zero business in the world with a 100% satisfaction rate, and people tend to zoom in on the negative comment.

because high overhead and poor job explaining fee is pathetic excuse for

1. doing unauthorized work already declined by the buyer multiple times
2. silent treatment from the finance staff
3. worst of fucking all, a finance turned in a lease? how in the fuck?!

buyer obviously should've been smarter (a non-refundable deposit with a BC dealer network?) but this sounds predatory at best

To be very specific. I was just referring to the high prices of these imported cars
Not the behaviour of the people involve.

RHD cars don't have financing unless in house (applewood being their own bank and will charge 8-15% rates) or Leasing based on $1 residuals.

I must be missing something but can someone explain how Applewood plays into this?
Are they the company the lease or payments are being made to on Colin's behalf?

I don't see how Applewood fits into the import and purchase of the vehicle?
I have seen an R34 or two in their showroom in Langley so do they have a division I'm unaware of?
