Maybe I'm biased, I'll watch anything with Patrick Stewart in it
I'm a bit thrown off by the woke label though? I can understand that for Discovery for sure... but Picard? Hmm... I mean, anyone not wanting spoilers stop reading now, but they even went so far as to show why the dirtier nature of "current day" earth might appeal more to some people when Rios decided to stay behind, etc.
Maybe I don't look deep enough into some of the messaging lol...

It's Friday the 13th.............
Western superstition. Quote:
According to folklore historian Donald Dossey, the unlucky nature of the number "13" originated with a Norse myth about 12 gods having a dinner party in Valhalla. The trickster god Loki, who was not invited, arrived as the 13th guest, and arranged for Höđr to shoot Balder with a mistletoe-tipped arrow. Dossey: "Balder died, and the whole Earth got dark. The whole Earth mourned. It was a bad, unlucky day." This major event in Norse mythology caused the number 13 to be considered unlucky.
| Quote:
The superstition seems to relate to various things, like the story of Jesus' last supper and crucifixion in which there were 13 individuals present in the Upper Room on the 13th of Nisan Maundy Thursday, the night before his death on Good Friday
| Friday, the 13th has always been a good day for me. Off to the casinos, I go. Gulolol.

I suddenly wondered to myself... whether CivicBlues actually had/has a blue Civic... or whether the Civic he had/has gave him a poor disposition...
or whether it's even a car at all... maybe a civic duty of some sort?

Ya got me! My namesake and sour disposition is from having ride this "civic-funded" transportation every day with the plebs:
Now that we're rehashing 20 year old questions, what's with you and Great68? Are you guys the same person? Do you like 68 Mustangs or something? Or is it like "69 style" but I owe you one? |

Haha, we both lived in Richmond way back when... I had a black 68 Mustang... he had a blue one... we both actually still have our cars, I'm still in Richmond but he's on the island nowadays!

Great day for a machete rampage IMO

Obvious ... Victoria Day long weekend. But we should really leave the Commonwealth and our colonial past. Waste of ceremonial money ... Canada Lieutenant Governor ... each province has one. Useless.

Can't leave our past. If it weren't for explorers and conquerers, we would not have the technology we have today. No cool cars, spaceships, trains, planes, you name it. If the Europeans didn't have a want or need to find new lands, riches, whathaveyou, we wouldn't be where we are today. With the bad comes the good and vice versa......... If only the way we treat each other can keep up with technologies and expansion, it'd be good. With Putin, social media, dictatorship, greedy and power hungry nut jobs, religious extremists, etcetera, we are not doing well. Evil doers using technology to do their bidding. I'm not as optimistic as Gene Roddenberry. But, can't give up. Learn from the past and make this world a better place. We can forget about Victoria Day and call it something else, if that's a step in the right direction?

If Europeans hadn't come here and taken over, someone else would have.
People are living in a pretend land if they think otherwise. That said, it would be nice to carve out a real Canadian identity... rather than this weird mishmash homage to a royal family that has nothing to do with us anymore except to smugly say they decided to let us be our own thing.

I’d rather be associated with the royal family than our neighbours to the south though. Canada is a great place to live, especially BC. Perhaps it wouldn’t be that way if things were different.

we could have easily become part of the US of A. British North America (prior to Dominion of Canada) stretched down into Oregon. Lot's of history between France, Spain, Britain, Americans, and Russia.
Russia used to belong to Russia. https://newcanadianlife.com/why-isnt...art-of-canada/ https://www.britannica.com/place/Oregon-Country
Purchase of Louisiana by the amuricans, damn.............
