Netflix - Hyperdrive
It's been up for almost 24hrs, and no thread about it?
Watched the first episode, would have shut it off after the first driver but (full disclosure) I have a good friend on the production team so toughed it out. By the end of the first episode we were interested in watching the second.
i shut my brain off and enjoyed the show. by the middle of the first episode I was kinda "bleh" and i held in there and watched another 3 episodes.
it's not for everybody...i'm not even really sure who this show is made for....but I like it so far.
The average person will get bored with it pretty quickly
Real drivers will hate it
Average car guys/girls will find it a bit too over the top and wonder why they didn't just bring in all drifters

If you like Formula D drifting you will probably enjoy the show. It's silly entertainment.
I find it bizarre that Charlize Theron is a producer.

Didn't know the cars were all supplied by the contestants themselves. Don't get why it's essentially an FD course on steroids with so much emphasis on drifting (guess it's the most stylish way around a corner?).
Just finished first episode. I think my favorite driver is the one with the blue 350z. It's not too over the top, not too cocky. Yes, I'm wondering why they had track guys come on to this show. Doesn't make sense at all. Guess track driving doesnt look as exciting to normal people. Also sucks that contestants have to destroy their cars to participate. I wonder if they got any participation money.

It's not made for enthusiast in mind, I think we're the wrong client base for it. We want more sideways more action more details, this is great for people who like American Ninja and just want a car version. Bridging that gap.
This show is for the ricers. The kind of people who rice out their car for the IG fame, not for track/drift purposes. Unfortunate too, because some of the contestants seem super legit.

I have more eps to go but I have enjoyed it. Some pretty crazy cars like e92 with 2JZ. The announcers get a bit tiresome but I would watch future seasons.

lol at the difference in the car owner types "go fast in a straight line and a few curves"

Yea, i'm thinking the guy with the wrap-around shades is their primary target

I enjoyed the show. Spoiler alert: I can't believe that happened to Joao Barion in the last race! I wouldn't be surprised if his nemesis had something to do with that. Brazilians...
Watched half of the first episode and couldn't take anymore. Just the usual cringe-worthy scripted garbage. Definitely not created with enthusiasts in mind, especially when I had several people from work who were not even remotely car people, tell me how much they enjoyed watching it.

I don't think it was "scripted" per-se, but there probably was a bit of editing fuckery.
Anyway, i watched the entire thing because my wife one night said "ooh, look, something you'll like!"...and then SHE got hooked on it.
It's a good show to just turn off your brain and watch. They do a good job with story telling and pacing, and by the end you definitely have someone you're rooting for.
A few of the drivers do have actual skill and heart, while some are just

Also, I'd pay $$$ to have a go at the Leveler.
i was just explaining this to a friend. Unlike other "reality" tv shows and competitions, there are lots of different people to love and hate for different reasons. So my heroes and my villains are not the same people as others.

my biggest issue with fastest car is that it's whole premise is "fast car vs sleeper" and most, if not all, of the "sleeper" cars are not what i would consider a sleeper.

A AWD civic with a big turbo is anything but a sleeper, as long as it doesnt blow up it should beat supercars all day
