For me, if I enjoyed enough of the main story, I'll go and do the side quests. Or if I really want the platinum, a lot of them require it.

Like for example I did all the side stuff for AC Odyssey and Valhalla, but I couldn't bring myself to do it for Horizon Zero Dawn. I'm liking GoT enough that I'll probably do it.

This is so true :lol

Once the main story is done, I never touch the game again. I'm not even sure if I've ever even replayed again upon beating it.

I end up finishing all/majority of the side quests before progressing the main story and end up being OP as hell for the storyline.

I'm doing side quests and stuff along with the main story. It's not as overwhelming as the previous few assassins creeds.

I know it sounds silly, but I think RDR2 ruined me.

It's crazy to me that Guardians of the Galaxy, one of the most highly acclaimed games of last year is already coming to Game Pass :ahwow:

All these games that I would buy on sale are just given to me for $5 a month :awwyeah:

Wasn't aware Gran Turismo 7 came out today.

Must…finish… cyberpunk…before..buying more games… :(

So ended up beating CP2077, few thoughts

Really well done game, engaging story, very well done characters. The environment created was amazing and they really nailed a lot of what you’d expect in the future etc.

Main story line was pretty short after coming from such an epic game in RDR2. I basically finished all the side quests I wanted to do, didn’t really have much of an interest in street racing or those theft/delivery quests, nor did I do the limo retrieval ones.

A lot of variation and choosing your route is nice, however most of this happened in the final “point of no return section” and that whole section is so long I don’t know if I’d go back and go the other routes to see what the outcome is.

All in all very enjoyable game, pity it took a year and a half to get right and for how long it was hyped I’d say the overall length was kind of disappointing.

As well, although the scope and scale of the city is massive, I couldn’t help but feel every area was almost the same. Every alley way looked and felt the same, besides maybe some different signage in the Chinese/Japanese areas and then the port areas the majority of the city centre felt the same regardless of where you went. And a lot of the time I ended up just using fast travel so it feels even less engaging

7/10

Feeling the same, completed all the side missions, just entering Act 3 now.

A lot of copy/pasted quests, it's actually quite surprising since Witcher 3 had some of the best side content I've seen in a game, period.

You're right, beautiful city and landscape, but so much of it is just dead.

Why don't some gangs randomly attack me later in the game when I'm walking on the street (as a result of me slaughtering their numbers). Why don't random encounters occur when I'm driving through the badlands?

So much potential, it's unfortunate they had to dedicate so much development time to simply fixing this game from a technical perspective, as opposed to actually having fun and engaging content.

Hondaracer 03-07-2022 12:00 PM

I’ve had more and more “random” occurrences later in the game with tiger claws etc. seemingly as I’ve done more quests against them? I’m not sure if there is an actual allegiance system built into the game or not though

One other thing I’d add is the augmentations had so much potential but fell pretty flat. Outside of the actual physical augs you get like gorilla arms and the spring loaded legs, both of which work pretty sweet and actually change your gameplay, the rest just seem to be stat boosters that don’t really effect gameplay on the level I’d expect

Like the visual augmentations, the most expensive ones for targeting etc. don’t really do much, the brain ones etc. are kinda meh reducing hacking time, would have been wayyyy cooler to expand the ability to see through walls or sonthing like that

mikemhg 03-07-2022 12:15 PM

^I agree, so much potential (as opposed to X% increase, X time cooldown).

These were things promised initially, but never came to fruition.

nabs 03-07-2022 12:23 PM

It is insanely good! First time playing a proper Gran Turismo with a wheel setup. It's gorgeous too. and NO LOADING TIMES!

My GT feels quite dark under FPS optimization mode? Anyone else have this?

My TV is a 2017 LED 4K Sony XBR and I’ve been finding with the PS5 ecen when I adjust the settings properly with those visual ques and checkerboard patterns it’s still too dark for me? Like the interior of the cars is hard to distinguish and some of the courses I don’t see the fine detail? This is really the first time I’ve ever had any issue with brightness/contrast with any component

I haven't played GT7, but I found a lot of those 'in-game calibrations' to be shit. I have a 2018 4K LED, and the screen itself is bright enough for TV use, but I had to crank up the brightness in game for assassins creed valhalla (after doing the in-game screen calibration thing) because I literally could not see shit if I was playing during the day. I use it more as a guide, and change my settings to whatever I want.

Another thing worth noting is some TV's have "game mode" to try and maximize contrast and HDR and whatever; those have pretty big impacts as well.

Leave the game calibration to its default settings. Adjust the contrast on your tv. If you have a game mode, try it out first, a lot of Sony TV's have well calibrated game modes specifically for Playstations. I was having this issue with my PS4 before discovering game mode.

Hondaracer 03-07-2022 01:50 PM

Yea I actually didn’t even think of Messing with the actual TV settings, because even cranking those in game settings doesn’t really change the issue I’m seeing. Will try that later.

Man, GT on expert mode is hard af though lol. I had to go back to normal thinking I was good enough to go expert and one bump into the wall and you’re done

SkinnyPupp 03-07-2022 01:58 PM

Are you guys using HDR? I find that it's probably too dark for games, as great as it is for movies and TV

For ACV, which is by default very bleak, I turned it off. For games like Tsushima, I left it in because it looks so much cooler. But yeah it's pretty YMMV.

GLOW 03-07-2022 02:49 PM

seems like most of you have ps5's (unless baller and have both).

which ps5 did you guys end up getting, digital or disk?
i imagine you get disk if you only want to play ps4 games?

Disc.

I like seeing the games in my bookshelf, being able to buy/sell, etc.

Also not a fan of digital, doesn't feel like you "own" the game (although technically the same can be said for the disc)

donk. 03-07-2022 03:55 PM

Picked up elden ring to play with friends

They updated the game and you can't PS4 / PS5 cross play

Facepalm....

Hopefully they patch it soon.
So many games released within the last year with so many errors

Cyberpunk and farcry 6 being the absolute worst

Beat the game and unlocked all six endings in the playthrough. People are speculating there's a seventh one, but I guess we'll see.

Had a great time. Now I got nothing else to play.

:okay:

SkinnyPupp 03-08-2022 02:40 AM

Holy fuck and I thought I was playing a lot :ahwow:

Level 164 did you farm runes to overlevel? Or is that a natural level?

I am waaaaaaaay overleveled for the stuff I'm doing, and IMO it makes the game much more tolerable. Bosses are still tough as shit, and even trash mobs can fuck you up if you're not careful, but you don't get punished by bullshit 1 hits. And if I can't beat a boss, I use a gold finger to carry me past it. I don't have any interest in playing a boss over and over, I just want to get to the part of the game I like.

I'm like level 71 and just beat the teacher a while ago (maybe level 65 or so for her)

This game is interesting.. I know I like it, but I can't say it's a "great game". Some parts of it feel like 10/10, and some parts - mostly technical and bad game design - are 0/10. So overall, I guess it's a 5/10 or 6/10, but highly enjoyable. Like how some 5/10 movies can be enjoyable too.

BOTW was like this too. 10/10 in some ways, and 3/10 in others. Still beat it and enjoyed it a lot.
