Black was the right way to go. Now I got a UFO looking thing in my TV stand, but no option, lol.

My tv stand is all white so mine should blend right in, but a black option would have been nice.

The outer plates are replaceable so maybe they will sell different colours at some point. Apparently Sony stopped some person who was trying to make different coloured plates and sell them.

Anyone go with the digital edition, or disk?

I find I NEVER use my disk drive on my PS4 Pro, and actually found the disk drive itself tends to break over time (this happened with my original PS4).

Curious if I'm silly to get the digital only edition?

I don't think it's silly, you're just 100% at the whims of Sony's online store pricing. As time goes on, they'll have less incentive to have sales.

So if you want a game, you're paying $70 USD for it, and will be unable to get in on a deal when Amazon or Best Buy, etc, has a sale, and of course the used market.

I got a disk drive specifically for the option to buy cheaper games down the line. The online store isn't always the cheapest place to buy games. I also lend out games and borrow some from my buddies after they are done with them which saves money as well.

You have a point, I just found myself always buying through the store during Cyber and holiday sales every year. Never really found a good used game sale in terms of physical copy, everyone on Facebook/Craigslist think their used game is worth pretty much the retail price, from what I've seen at least.

I was shopping for Ghosts of Tsushima a few months back and used prices were more than the PS store :lol

I've always wanted the ps3/ps4 on white and we only saw concepts, or limited editions, in different colours, so I'm glad the ps5 is in white, and considering how easy the panels are to remove, we can easily have different coloured ps5s

I chose the disc option for the ps5 bcuz I'm just used to having a disc option, for blurays n games, though I haven't watched a bluray or used a disc for games in ages

Got PS5 yesterday... was only able to play for half an hour last night (Spidey)... it's AWESOME! It's like the original spiderman with a twist for the better... absolute must-have if you are into action games.

Basically you gotta get lucky at the moment, PS5 is sold out everywhere.

I lurked this thread when the major retailers were supposed to get more stock in, those guys are crazy fast at finding out the second a website has some in stock.

I tried picking up another ps5 to give as a Christmas gift to my nephews, thesource was supposed to have stock at 11am est and the website crashed 10mins before :lol when I finally loaded the site it put me into a 10k long queue lol

Haha, as everyone stated above, the disk ver. is there for used games... and actually for 4k blu rays as well as I dont have another player for 4K blu rays...

PS3 white was japan only (the DS3 controller showing its age but still works fine)

PS4 white was destiny special edition...

interesting... I never had a console fail on me (knock on wood), even my PS2 at my parents house still works (I booted it up for GT4 like Jan of this year lol, to show my kids how I almost had all golds in the license tests).. now Im curious if my PSX still works... I was gonna grab the PSX + PS2 from my parents house the next time Im there so I can take a family photo of the PlayStation hahaha..

PS3 still works as it did, but I did upgrade to a 500GB HDD

PS4 works as well

(I do take apart my consoles to clean dusts every 6 month~1 year though)

Kinda weird how white components did not even try to become available in the North American market. Compared to Asia where they have white TV’s etc.

Generally white components pretty ugly lol so maybe it’s a North American sentiment

White stuff always looks great brand new, but in a few years it turns yellow and ugly. I guess it's OK if you replace your console every generation, but if you have an old TV or monitor still in use, it looks pretty bad

Black was always considered premium in NA like for HiFi equipment n entertainment furniture, but that was never the case in Asia where hifi equipment would be silver or gold same with furniture and even cars (look at all the white luxury cars)

For me, my TV stand/cabinet is high gloss white, TV is silver, and my pc is a high gloss white case too hehe

Kid was just messing around with the PS5 today. They found Astro's Playroom... which came pre-loaded with all PS5s. It's basically a Mario-like game while showcasing all the new controls and functions of the PS5.

Very clever... think it as a User Manual made into a little game.

Also, not sure if XBox got any upgrades, but the new PS5 controller is soooo good. Vibration for example, I don't think it's the same little motor like before anymore. It's much more refined where when I was playing Astro, stepping onto different surface would give different feedback. And the L2/R2 trigger (and I think all buttons, just more noticeable on these 2) are now pressure sensitive.

Yeah Astro is a great showcase for the controller. Gives you an idea of what you can expect from first party Sony games in the future.

Astro was definitely a nostalgia trip. Seeing the PSP style buttons (clear) on the new dualsense controller was definitely nice as well. Just a note for those who have the PS5:

If you are using an external hard drive TURN OFF Rest Mode. The PS5 could cut power to the external HDD while updating in Rest Mode and potentially corrupt system files (would require a factory reset, otherwise fine). There are also mentions of coil whine on the new PS5 (I have it and a friend of mine also has it) which is similar to the coil whine on a PC. Not too worried about the coil whine either way but just an FYI

i think all buttons r pressure sensitive since PS3, if not since PS4. the only major difference r the triggers having force feedback on the L2/R2 triggers this time. if only sony would go with offset joy sticks like xbox controllers, but that will never happen since it was a microsoft idea.

Anyone think there will be a viable restock prior to 2021? Just curious if I'm shit out of luck purchasing a PS5 this year?
