Stay safe RS and MG1 stay the fuck home. | I have to say it's been quite encouraging to see many businesses critically thinking and taking the initiative to make changes that may hurt their bottom line but are the responsible thing to do.

was talking to my colleagues about a month ago and we all agreed asepsis at some hospital departments leaves a lot to be desired and most of this is already no brainer in other areas of health care
hope medical personnel would stop leaving a used mask on their chins after all this...as well as no more scrubs in public
face palm on some of the hospital admin...looking bad for a bloodborne communicable diease sure...this early on was known to be respiratory
btw our clnic already donated all the masks we had

Hong Kong has banned ALL foreign visitors. No more quarantine, you just can't come at all.
This excludes Macau and Taiwan. They can still come, but with a 14 day quarantine (if they'd been elsewhere though, they are also banned.
No ban for China either, despite being the source of the virus, and by far the most infected people.
They have also banned serving alcohol, in an attempt to stop the idiots from being in gatherings. So instead of doing a full lockdown by force, they are attempting to just dissuade people from going out.
Stores can still sell though, so they'll all just go to 7-11 and do the same thing anyway |

I mean, you could say that the numbers are due to low testing, but with their aged population and density, you would see a rapid increase in hospitalization if it were attempted to be covered up. AFAIK the government also doesn't censor social media like China, so i think if their numbers weren't genuinely low you would hear about this from the public. | friend living there says they're not really doing much to prevent it. Kind of like Italy in the beginning. The country apparently wanted to not make a big deal of it in hopes of keeping the Olympics running. Not sure how that'll pan out now...

I played some video games this weekend to relax. It did the job but I feel so disconnected from reality. A cruise relaxes me but still connects me to the reality. Quote:

I think many govt. are scared to do a complete shutdown because of the repercussions
Some investment guys I follow on Twitter etc had interesting takes and thought bigger employers and industries should have done everything they could to stay open. His reasoning is that who gives a fuck about a virus when you forclose on your mortgage, your family falls apart, and your homeless.
As it’s been said before somthing insane like 35% of people in the states couldn’t weather a $400 unexpected expense, and many don’t qualify for social security etc.

Not pro CCP or anti CCP, just one factor to consider in terms of true stats and practicality. | In China at the time it was anyone that tested positive for the virus was counted. However it was noted majority of these deaths were due to an already poor immune system due to pre-existing conditions ie. cancer, high blood pressure, etc etc. MOST healthy people without pre-existing conditions recover worry free.

Anyways brother in law works in a car dealership in Richmond (no names will be mention). And he is a tech there. So instead of trying reduce the risk by only doing necessary maintance their manager have deiced to go the other direction. He is making the reception calls their current customer to come in for general check ups even just oil change, filter change etc etc. If the clients are too scare to go out he gets the tech to drive out to the client place pick up the clients car, drive back to the shop do what they do need to, drive back to the client's place and pick up their car and leave.
In a time where people should not be out and about he makes people work more and even do work that will put them as risk just to fill his own pockets. A lot of the techs and people have decided to take non pay days rather than going to work.

| https://www.cheknews.ca/bc-coronavir...3-2020-657171/ Restaurants to deliver liquor products The BC government said restaurants are now allowed to use their servers to deliver liquor products alongside meals. The new service will continue until at least July 15th.$The province also added existing safeguards for consumption remain in place, including I-D verification.$ BC Housing update to come this week Housing Minister Selina Robinson says help is on the way to ensure renters are not evicted as the province cracks down on the spread of the new coronavirus. An update on rent payments is expected this week. B-C is also banning evictions for non-payment of rent in buildings funded by B-C Housing, which develops and manages subsidized housing options. COVID-19 Ads coming to Canada The federal government is rolling out a 30-million-dollar multi-media ad campaign this week, as the number of COVID-19 cases in Canada approaches one-thousand, 500. The country’s death toll from the novel coronavirus rose yesterday to 21. In the new ads, Canada’ chief public health officer urges Canadians to practice social distancing and good personal hygiene. $ $ $
LOL at ad spend, I don't know if that's a good use of resources. It reminds me of the house hippo campaign.

That's retarded.
I'm an installation/repair tech for one of the local tv/internet providers. We're no longer allowed to have any direct contact with customers or enter their homes.
Meanwhile in NS, the premier has struck the hammer down on physical distancing and businesses not operating safely. Also, anyone entering into NS automatically goes into 14day quarantine. Quote:
There will be two summary offences; one for an individual failing to comply to an order from the chief medical officer of health, and one for a business failing to comply to an order from the chief medical officer of health.
The fine is $1,000 per day for individuals, and $7,500 per day for businesses. Individuals and businesses can be fined on multiple days.
As part of the state of emergency, McNeil says, effective immediately, Nova Scotians cannot gather in groups of more than five. Provincial parks are closed effective immediately and anyone who goes there will be treated as trespassing and have their vehicles towed.

From someone who's been through initial month long isolation in Shanghai China, my best advice aside from the obvious social isolation, wash your hands, don't touch your face etc. etc. is:
1. leave your shoes OUTSIDE
2. STOCK UP ON NO PERISHABLE/FROZEN VEG AND FRUITS!!!!!! during the first 2 weeks of lockdown, fresh vegetable were literally impossible to buy. I had to visit 3-4 groceries stores before any were in stock. When I did find any, it was slim pickings and all were on the brink of expiring. Meat was relatively easy to find.
3. don't hoard toilet paper, for a family of 3 and a neighbor that literally stayed over everyday, we only went through maybe 1 24pack in the month?
4. if you decide to hoard anything, hoard alcohol. Me and my neighbor went through 18 bottles of whiskey and 11 bottle of wine in a month hahahahaha
5. buy one of those half face respirators with the appropriate filters for virus/bacteria/smog, JUST IN CASE for backup purposes if it gets really serious and you can't get n95 masks.
6. n95 masks and surgical masks are not meant to be reused. Unless you are very careful on where you touch on the the mask, reusing it literally defeats the purpose of wearing one.
Also not sure why everyone in western media is saying stay 1-2 meters apart. The news here was the virus can be carried up to 8 meters in the air.

Got about 40 bottles of booze and 50+ bottles of wine
Although I really hope it doesn’t get to the point of having to dig into those dregs of my wine..you know the world is over when I’ve gotta drink those bottles

More entitled customer today. This couple is a snowbird and just flew back from England to Vancouver last night and call us to setup internet and cable
When I told them they have wait 14 days before we will book a tech to come they got piss and demanded someone comes out ASAP and if I can't make that happen they will complain to management. Explain to them what's happening and basically why they need to stay self isolate for 14 days and the potential fall out that could happen if we sent someone in and they are in fact infected.
In the end they got piss off coz I refuse to send a tech in within 14 days and they will be going with Shaw. That's fine I don't give a f-uck but I do feel sorry for the shaw tech who goes there and could get infected. People like that really needs a slap in the face to wake them up from their la la land and back to reality.
