I do think it's a horrible idea to start social gathering again. Even if everything is totally fine, it's way too soon to assume that. There's a higher chance that another round of infections will start up again, then all hell will break loose.

U.K. p.m. Boris Johnson tested positive. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-52060791 Quote:
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus.
Mr Johnson said he had developed mild symptoms over the past 24 hours, including a temperature and cough.
He is self-isolating in Downing Street but said he will "continue to lead the government's response via video-conference as we fight this virus".
| JT says the government will now cover 75% of wages. Also offering 40k to businesses with no interest for the first year with 10k forgivable.

It looks like the stored and expired 55 million face masks, among other critical equipment, in Ontario, that I'd posted previously, was destroyed.
Why it wasn't rotated into circulation to be kept up to date is beyond me. https://www.insideottawavalley.com/o...estroyed-them/ Quote:
Ontario had all the top-grade face masks it needed for doctors and nurses in an unforeseen medical crisis of hellfire proportions.
That was the lesson learned from the 2003 SARS epidemic in Toronto: Stockpile. Be prepared. Protect health-care workers. Twenty-six-thousand pallets of supplies, $45 million worth, including N95 respirators, face shields, needles, disinfectant wipes and disposable thermometers.
Fifty-five million face masks.
Then the province began methodically destroying the goods. They’d reached their best-before date, which for most N95s – it varies among manufacturers – was five to 10 years.
By 2013, according to the annual auditor’s report, Ontario had disposed of 80 per cent of the stockpile because they were deemed not up to 100 per cent par. Elastic bands had degraded and were susceptible to snapping. The crucial filtering material had deteriorated.
Now the Centers for Disease Control has changed its protocols, its National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health branch concluding from controlled testing that expired N95s remain effective beyond the manufacturer’s expiry date if they’ve been stored properly. Indeed, in a crunch – and this is a crunch – health care workers should try bandanas and scarves.

Honestly, i've seen a lot of hilarious content lol. I just didn't want to post it in here since we've amassed a lot of important information and comments in this thread. Maybe we could do a separate thread for funny shit. Humour is a great way for some of us to cope with the stress despite what some are too sensitive towards.

u might think we are crazy but when CHINA NUMBER 1.........with corona virus is allowing social gathering then u know its a good sign | Propaganda. How do you know they are not paid actors by CCP order to go out and pretend to have fun. /s
For reals though, China's back to normal timeline should not be use as a yardstick for other countries. Certainly not by any non authoritarian government. The only reason they are even entertaining this idea is because of the draconian measure they took in the beginning. Who know there might be a second wave of infection.

Had another guy come in the office just travel back to Canada want to setup service. We told him no he have to self isolate 14 days at home and he shouldn't be out. Came back an hour later want to talk to someone else to connect again the front desk told him no and is getting freak out. Since she is been talking to him twice now and pretty tell them to gtfo or we are going to call the police. And that is why self isolation isn't working. You have asshole who doesn't give a crap about it. Do what China/HK does once you land have the police/military pick you up and send you to an offsite area guarded by military for 14 days. If you are healthy after 14 days you get to go home.

So I purchased these off Amazon about 2 weeks ago before any of the 1 star reviews came pouring in: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They finally came today and basically what I got was this in plastic, no box. So yeah, I was scammed: mask.jpg
photo is from amazon reviews, but mine are basically the same, just individually wrapped in plastic
Use or No?

Use or No? | What's wrong with them exactly? It looks like there's no ear loops but that could just be the picture. Also I can't tell whether there's a nose bridge metal or not...
It's likely that they were taken from a huge box and then wrapped in smaller bundles for sale on Amazon.
If they're 3 layer they should be OK to use. At the very least, they will be "better than nothing". You could tie a few layers of paper towel around your face and it would be somewhat effective.

Fits much more snug than masks with ear loops,as you can tie it somewhat tight.
Better than nothing at least. Heck, might even be better than those masks.

Are you fucken serious? BC isnt even fully testing everyone so in a way they are artificially keeping their numbers down. I know a few people who have moderate symptoms and were in contact with ppl who was tested positive from work, but they were told they cant be tested because all the resources and testing kits are being pooled towards health care workers, geriatric population and those who are higher risk due to medical/health reasons. So there are probably more than a few hundred people who are positive but just havent been tested nor counted circulating around out there in BC and our government is boasting and comparing ourselves to South korea where they have better, faster and more testing than any country in the world. What a fucken joke.

The rise in demand from both medical professionals and the public has left health workers worried about whether the supply will be adequate in the weeks and months ahead.
Jennifer Graham, owner of Duncan-based clothing company Salts and West, started making a few reusable masks for clients who are doctors.
Word got out and before long, she started getting requests from clinics in Canada and recently from New York.
She and her group of 10 seamstresses have been manufacturing the masks at a rate of about 60 per hour. “My seamstresses and I are already in isolation, so we can keep them as clean as possible,” said Graham, who normally creates fashionable clothing for women.
