Really? He wants to stay anonymous. Really? He's a violent offender with a long history. If he was in prison for a minor offence, I might have a little sympathy. This guy probably caused a lot of pain and anguish to numerous people and their families. He made a choice. It's bad enough worrying about a deadly virus, but having to worry about a repeat offender out on the streets? No sir............ I'm no, "Confess and we'll forgive." type. Explain it to the victims, this is okay. We don't even know what the particulars are as far as his past criminal activities.
There are people who are not self-quarantining for 14 days after they come back to Canada from abroad. I hope these people get nailed to the proverbial cross.
Yes, parts of the public are not self isolating, but I'm sure we can trust that violent offenders caught pistol whipping or accomplices to attempted murder will obey their recommendations to do so.
With judges like these on the bench, it's no wonder this beautiful country is becoming a hotbed for crime. https://globalnews.ca/news/6788223/c...ates-released/

One is the accused getaway driver for a recent Toronto murder attempt. Another allegedly pistol-whipped and Tasered two in Ottawa over a drug debt. A third was allegedly involved in a Toronto strip mall shooting.
A growing number of suspects arrested on serious criminal charges have been ordered released from custody in recent weeks by judges concerned about the spread of COVID-19 in Canada’s prisons.
“These are extraordinary, dire times,” a judge wrote Monday in a decision ordering the release of a man accused of firing a bullet through his ex-girlfriend’s apartment window in Hamilton, Ont.

Really don’t know how much longer this is all sustainable in terms of social isolation etc.
A lot of people I know and work with etc. Are talking about trying to organize bbqs and whatnot and try to social distance there getting together with friends and family. It hasn’t really been too hard for me because the wife and I get along great even stuck with each other day after day but if you live in a small condo and you’re on your own I can really blame em.
They are going to have to figure something out in terms of going out but you must wear a mask etc. Because people are gonna start going out regardless
I agree wholeheartedly. With the Province recently announcing this week that they're closing all parks until end of May? Who knows if the municipal parks will follow suit?
I think it's a terrible idea, you're just going to have people congregate more to the few spaces available.
There is absolutely no way they can keep this up in this manner in terms of forcing people to stay inside until end of May, or even June like some are proposing.
It's already getting hot out, once you have those 20C+ days, all bets are off.
I'm curious to hear what type of plan they have for that, currently there doesn't seem to be one.
I know my parents is having a hard time with it already. They been to Costco, Superstore, Saves on a few times already for "grocery shopping" this week. Also they been to my place twice in the last 2 weeks to bring "grocery" to me and my wife....... They also been the parks but I let them know always wear your mask and wash your hands when you are out.

Just drove past Deer Lake and all the parking lots are closed effective immediately. Some cars are still parked inside the lot but parks board people have closed the gates and are manning the gates to allow those cars out but no more cars in.
Anywhere where you can park is now a gong show. And of course, Deer Lake is busy AF with parents and their kids.
And this will be the new norm for the next little while.

Well going off yesterday's briefing, Trudeau says this will be the new norm for the next 12-18 months.
That's right, no plan whatsoever aside from sitting on their hands until a vaccine "arrives" and showering the public with debt in the meanwhile.
Can you just imagine what the deficit is going to look like at that rate?
I can't bite my tongue on what an absolutely piss poor job this government has done with managing this right from the start.
They made NO attempt to stop or even slow this virus from entering the country. And now they have NO plan on what to do now that it's here.
UTTER INCOMPETENCE.

Bro every country is going to be in a deficit after this, stop whining. Canada is taking care of their people probably better than most if not all others.
Even Hong Kong, who has been so far into a surplus every year in the last decade that they just give money away for no reason (while not developing a proper social welfare program but that's another topic for another place), plans to be in a $140 Billion deficit this year ($18 billion USD) 4.8% GDP.
Canada with 4X the population and were hit much harder by the virus, expects a 184b deficit, 8.5% GDP
Sucks I know, but you know what else sucks? A fucking pandemic that kills hundreds of thousands of people and destroys our way of life. With like half the population out of work, homelessness is coming. Canada is trying to prevent that, and that means... A DEFICIT. HIGHER TAXES for people who can pay them. This is to prevent situations like this
However because it's Trudeau, every decision is a bad one right?
I can't even imagine the shit Canada would be in now if the Conservatives won the last election. I mean things are scary now, but that would be terrifying.

Am I the only one that feels like we haven't even properly gotten started yet? There's still loads of people walking/biking/driving around, kids playing together, etc. I went to the store for a some essentials and I was the only person in the store with a mask of any kind and nobody was keeping their distance in the aisles.
I could see people complaining if we were few months into the much stricter measures other countries have done but if they can't handle the couple weeks of half assing it that we've been doing then they need to give their head a shake.

Just watched a CityNews Toronto video on youtube and the anti-vax conspiracy army is out in full force.
How did we become like this? Mob-mentality, uneducated, anti-science crazies. I feel sorry for all the citizens of Ontario who are actually taking this seriously and have to bear the brunt of protecting society, including these dumbass crazies.
All the greeneries and garden centers in kelowna are absolutely packed today. Probably busier than what they'd normally be. I wonder how many of the people who are there buying their spring flowers and geraniums and other useless shit also have #stayhome on their social media.

Looking forward to Monday articles about how many warnings were issued over the weekend
Without a full flown China style lockdown, you can’t eradicate the virus. Even with their scale of measures it’s still pretty damn tough. Sweden? They are being smart. Sick? Stay home. Old? Stay home and don’t see anyone. Everyone else? Be smart.... yes it will spread, but sitting at home with half ass measures is doing the same thing. So why kill the economy while your at it.
Perhaps our population just isn’t logical or strict enough to not be stupid.

So many people on my Facebook with #stayhome on their profile asking where they can find unmonitored boat launches, what private campgrounds are open, etc.

This hits home personally (I live in Toronto, I know.) It sucks here and this is how people are. No matter how educated, how brilliant one might be, I find that it's an Ontario thing here. People have these crazy, conservative (sometimes far-right) ideas, and of course, vote in crazies like Doug Ford. People say Vancouver is full of NIMBY's, but I find that it's mild in Vancouver. It's more extreme here.
No matter how much people hate the Liberals, I stray away from the Conservatives here, both at the municipal, provincial, and federal level.

You seem to be under the disillusion that somehow taking, by force, citizens money that will accrue interest for the decades to come, to distribute it right now is some sort of crowning achievement.
It is not.

The conservative shadow health minister made recommendations as early as January to restrict travel, enforce mandatory quarantine for those returning from infected areas, and assess PPE stockpiles. Common sense measures that this government would end up taking MONTHS later.
It's not 'because it's Trudeau'. It's because this government continually chose to take its marching orders from the "experts" at the WHO rather than the common sense examples from countries that defied them, and are now seeing the benefits. https://edmontonjournal.com/news/nat...d-19-outbreak/

I've said it before and I'll say it again - blame the WHO for this, not the people who followed their advice like they were supposed to.
WHO has been exposed, and need to be dealt with. China, you know I've been talking about them forever, but they need to be considered as well in future law making.
Very few countries did NOT listen to the WHO. Taiwan is the ultimate example, but in a way they only did so because they weren't allowed to take part. If they were allowed, maybe they'd be in the same situation. If they'd elected a pro-CCP government (and the KMT had been running on that platform lately although they changed their tune after this last loss), they would have had to play nice and leave borders open just like everyone else.
So Taiwan ended up better off, Hong Kong did because the people forced them into it, and Japan nobody has a clue why they aren't completely destroyed by now. Following the WHO guidelines is kind of what you're supposed to do, until now. How many people knew how corrupt they were before this? I didn't know, and I've been critical of them since day 1, although more stuff has come out after...
Yet you criticise the conservatives, who recommended AGAINST the WHO guidelines all the way back in January.
Your comment was not grounded by facts, but bias.
This government is STILL following WHO guidelines.
I can't see how anyone can defend that.

Japan... I’ve travelled a fair bit. Japan is one of the cleanest places I’ve ever been. Their culture is so ridiculously anal about any sort of rule, I’m betting any minor changes put in place to combat the virus would actually work. This has to play a part. For such a densely populated place it really is amazing. But at the same time. The attention to detail is amazing. This shows up everywhere in their culture. Even when wiping down a door knob. Probably one of the easiest things to do with the biggest effect.
A population wearing masks and gloves who lives in disgusting quarters, while
obsessively touching their face with their “safe dirty ass gloved” hands doesn’t accomplish much. I watch people locally who are fully decked out. A lot of them are prepared, and that’s awesome. But seriously, they are moving their masks. touching their faces, using reusable bags, all sorts of acts which are foolish. It’s like by wearing their “space suit” they are now invincible. I feel the same way on my mountain bike when I’m geared up. Way less cautious.
