People have been getting together in groups of more than people you live with since the beginning because either A) they are too dumb to understand the gravity of the situation or B) they simply don’t care.

With that said I really don’t see how you can really say how effective the overall strategy is. Public transit is obviously a big transmission point, as would large gatherings like Canucks games etc. However, people have been ignoring the guidelines from the beginning. It’s not just this past weekend at the beach. Imo if community transmission was as big of an issue as it’s said to be, we would be wayyyy worse off.

Even at work for me, a giant company does not understand nor provide adequate information and teaching as to properly remove PPE. As I said before I used to run asbestos abatements with my former company. The procedure to remove PPE for particles which are essentially visible to the naked eye takes 7-10 minutes. Companies thinking its adequate to wear a surgical mask and wipe down your phone while going into high rises of 600+ People are out of their fucking minds. If the virus was present on a surface you touched, you’ve got it if it’s as contagious as led to believe.

So if we go a couple weeks and see no spike in cases, or everything continues to level off and decline, I think you seriously have to look at other factors such as quality of living, accessibility, density, and overall general health of the lower mainland population as oppose to “strict” controls which achieved this current state.

So the dummies are right that we didn't have to lock down, since we didn't lock down anyway... But since we didn't lock down anyway, nobody lost their jobs and "the economy" is doing just fine?

pro-tip: costco.ca will deliver many of those products right to your door.

Costco has had some of the best “social distancing” procedures from the beginning. Employees watching for social distancing, well marked. Proper line control.

The local veggie mart? First time I went in there on Broadway it was 30 people in a 1500sq/f place.... and most of that space is occupied with vegetables lol. They have since implemented a self guided lineup outside which no one watches, but you can walk through that place without going going into someone’s personal space.

I can agree with you if you want to support local, but to say it’s a bad and dangerous place to go to is ridiculous. One stop shop, go home and your good for a seriously long time.

I would be that oddball. I will even wear a mask if I go to a local beach and sit down. Better be safe than sorry.

Any enclosed indoor space full of people is bad and dangerous. Wearing a mask in those places is literally acknowledging that is the case.

Avoiding them is the core tenet of our pandemic strategy in this province.

Why expose yourself if you don't have to?

Had to head out the last couple days, and I'm shocked... Traffic is like back to normal... Hell worse even, I've never experienced a traffic jam @ 7:30pm out at my rents

at the initial outbreak and it was over-preparing and over-protection but now 2 months of no structure/routine is getting to me

Traffic was so light mid-March, it was great for people like me who still had to commute. Not only did it cut my time down quite a bit, but my fuel economy went from about 8.3 L/100 km to 6.7 L/100 km (combined with Chevron’s offer for healthcare workers of $10/off with min. 20 L fill and low gas prices, meant I was paying about $5.50/day in fuel (50 L) vs my usual $13.50/day). If I filled every 20 L would’ve been less but obviously not work the extra risk to save a few bucks.

It’s been as bad, if not worse, here since Easter. Fucking sucks. Combined with free parking at the hospital, means also a massive pain in the ass trying to find parking when I get to work.

i left work a little later than normal yesterday, 5pm and was quite shocked how much traffic there was around coquitlam center.

not sure if it was because it was an hour later than normal or just the start of a new week and some people getting back outside or to work

Maybe this insane traffic is just the burbs. While in Van you can notice the amount of cars has risen since March, I have still yet to experience anything remotely close to regular levels and I do leave the house in my car at least 6 times a week.

I've been working as per normal since the lock down but changed my work location from Olympic Village to Downtown, really the difference of just over the Cambie Bridge. Daily commute from East Van and leaving the house between 730/800 and coming home between 430/500.

Traffic was non existent in March like no joke I'd be going down Kingsway and see a total of maybe 10 cars from Nanaimo to Main. Coming home was dead too.

April had a a rise but still definitely like 20% of normal volume in the morning and maybe 30% after work.

Now in May it's more the same for me on my routes and times. Maybe a 5-10% increase from what I saw in April. Only different is weekend traffic is heavier but again still no where near normal weekend traffic yet.

People ignoring the lockdown is different from business ignoring lockdown orders. Businesses wont risk losing their licenses permanently whereas individuals have nothing to lose other than "maybe" getting a ticket?

So essentially you fucked yourself up for minimal benefit.

Hong Kong just had another local case after how many months of 100% masking and social distancing measures? Would it be outrageous to assume there is a large undiagnosed infection reservoir out there? Otherwise, where would she get the virus from? So do you lock down again? Then if it comes under control, you relax measures then comes the third wave, fourth wave, etc. What is the long term plan?

I got hit with a $20 FedEx bill for the artscow masks I ordered. Bill came over a month after I got the masks

I've barely been driving at all, Grocery store ever 7 to 10 days, I've made a few dump runs and some misc. since beginning of March.

As a matter of fact I just filled up for the first time yesterday since the beginning of March, cheapest gas in a long time and no need to buy gas. :)

I'm thinking I might start working from the office in June but I'm playing it by ear really.

I think there was a lot more outrage at the Twitter post which cut it off at “... world is now on hold”. So you didn’t see the pro-vegan portion and lost the context. Still not something a public figure should be posting on a public forum.

I ordered from them pretty early on and I haven't received any additional FedEx charge since then. So it must've been something that started happening later on.

Was this a 2nd bill or first? I ordered 100 KN95s and recieved a call from FedEx part way through the shipping to pay the bill and it was roughly $28
