Well worth it if it means we can make people feel more comfortable, be a safe place to be, and have some semblance of success when the odds are stacked against it.

So, kudos for using it all the time because I get uncomfortable after half hours... can't imagine if I had to wear that thing the entire work time. | Discomfort is something people used to just face head on. In many cases, experiencing and dealing with discomfort head on leads to learning and growth.
Not calling you out specifically, but speaking in wide generalizations society today is too coddled and comfortable anyway, avoiding any sort of discomfort, however minor, by any means possible.

I know it's all relative to what you're used to, but I'd imagine anyone who has worked something like roofing or an oilfield job in the summer would love to only have the discomfort level of a mask for PPE.

poco costco the other night was definitely less than half the people wear a mask
then you get a kid wearing one while the parent doesn't...right that makes sense

richmond is doing pretty well; a lot of people wear them.
I find it mind blowing when people say "do you know how crazy HK COVID is"
I blown their mind when I say you STFU and do some research.
8 million in HK 1100 cases 37 new cases
5 Mill in BC 3300 cases with 80 new cases..
why the fuck are you saying HK is scary when you don't even recognize Kelowna (and other places) are worse....
people need to be properly educated

Total HK cases are that low?? Wow very impressive. Geographically that makes no difference; any super dense populated area with low numbers like that is truly impressive

I can't stand a mask when it's muggy out, it's why I barely wore one when I was in HK earlier this year
At Coquitlam Centre about 20% of ppl (being generous) are wearing a mask, some that have em have it sitting under their chin

I was on the island for 3 weeks, I’ve come back and come to realize the tri-cities went from 5% mask wearers to well over 50%. Id say 80%. At least the day time shopping crowd.

Cases are still going up. There are outbreaks throughout the city, and nobody knows the source.
They released a list of places where confirmed infected people accessed. I was at 2 of them the Saturday before last. Same restaurant... No symptoms, but it's scary knowing that for a fact, I was at the same place on the same day as someone who 100% has the virus Also one patient regularly takes the same minibus I do. |

Australia's flu season has started, and since the same precautions that people take for Covid also apply to influenza, the flu outbreak has been a fraction of what it usually is |

That's some great news! Honestly, the way things are these days I have zero issue wearing a mask during flu season regardless of a pandemic occuring or not.

Hopefully we get something meaningful out of the vaccines.
Without a viable vaccination, the pandemic has really no end in sight. And its infection/death rate is just too high for one to be comfortable to do normal things like sending kids to school... because all parents know that when you send a kid to school, you just expect kid to come back sick someday because that's school. But when there's a high chance that it would led to the death of kid of his families... I really think I'd rather to keep my kids home.

My kids aren’t going to school until there’s a proven vaccine.

Keep in mind that no vaccine will be 100% effective. What they will do is convince your body to make antigens against covid19. This hopefully will stop you from getting the disease when the virus enters your body. The one talked about in the article combines genetic material from covid19 spike proteins with a chimpanzee common cold virus to deliver it.
The key is, how effective does it need to be to stop the pandemic? How many people need to actually be vaccinated? How often? At what cost? And how soon can this happen?
It will be nothing short of amazing if the vaccine ends up being safe, and enough people are able to get it to stop covid in its tracks, within say 2 years from now.
Until then, get used to wearing masks.

Considering they can’t even get 1/3 of ‘Murricans to wear masks, distance, or even acknowledge that it’s real or a threat, we’re pretty much fucked.
