Most certainly, hence why we need to land somewhere in the middle. Leaving that purely up to the general population doesn't seem likely to work well though.

Yes people can mostly self-isolate and avoid things like restaurants. But at some point those people will have to go to a doctors office, go to a pharmacy, etc and may not have a car to get there. People in apartments have to bring in their groceries and mail using the common areas. The more infected people they encounter in those areas the more risk they have. The more open things are the more infected people there will be at a time.

I feel like that would make a big difference. Require masks everywhere it's possible to wear them so that the higher risk areas are reduced to the places where it isn't practical (ie restaurants etc). If possible then similarly assist those places in being equipped to deny service to those breaking the rules. That way if people do need to venture out they're more likely to be on a bus that has one sick person instead of ten.

Those are terrible analogies. Why do you think there are police handing out fines and tickets for those violations in the first place? You would be surprised how many people wouldn't wear seatbelts if they didn't have to.

His second post was about how he has seen an increasing amount of people lining up to get coronavirus tests at his hospital clinic, and how the first wave in HK never ended - people simply didn't bother getting tested so now cases are going up.

my point at the beginning was simply that most people respond pretty well to a request, but not as well to an order. BC (BH) recognized this at the very beginning. Ask, don't order. People are ready to raise statues in her name - do you think that would happen if everybody was afraid a cop was going to give them a ticket for walking down the street without a mask? The shit tickets they were handing people in ontario for stepping off a sidewalk made national news.

that may not be the case in other parts of the world, where the population is more accepting of government authority, but here it is a better plan.

I just saw redcat records is requiring patrons to wear a mask - good on em for taking responsibility for their own business space. Not because the bylaw guy will come around, but because it's the right thing to do.

Yah, now that you can't go to Pt Roberts to pick up and have to get things shipped across border, not only is it super long ... some items have automatic additional customs/duties plus higher shipping cost to Canada.

I regret buying a few things, after all is said and done ... not worth it.

once things arrive into Canada I've only had a problem with ups, I don't know if they have a backlog or what but my packages sit at their depot for over a week before getting sent out to me, FedEx/CanadaPost on the other hand get sent over to me in a day or two

Just go back and read the thread... He wanted to be banned back then, but I didn't get around to it. If people ask for a ban, I usually oblige. That is literally the only time I ban people besides spam bots. Last night he came back with the same shit again, and I remembered the ban and placed it.

As for his post, he came in calling this place a "shithole" and then incorrectly stated that there aren't varying viral load levels, and incorrectly stated that you are either infected or not infected. It's actually one of the main focuses of research right now, since viral load seems to be correlated to level of contagiousness, but not actually level of sickness one feels. In other words, the people with the highest viral loads are those who are asymptomatic. Just google it if you want to know more.

He then said the reason there are so many people getting sick is because we're doing a lot of testing, he praised Donald Trump and said we should stop testing so much.
