I think years from now we're going to have a huge increase of people with cardio issues, as many of the younger people who got the virus but recovered relatively easily will reach the age where these things come up often due to other issues | This is true, and as you already know, these issues include kidney complications as well.
Now that we're about 6 months into this whole pandemic, anyone having any concerns that this will be the new norm going forward in entirety? Will large parties, concerts, major indoor events be stopped entirely for years to come?
I'm truly starting to wonder this due to the fact that any actual vaccine will have its issues with public buy-in. We already have a major anti-vax movement in the Western world, and given the otherwise shortened development span of the vaccine, what happens when people decide not to get treated?
We will never be able to achieve herd immunity unless the majority of people get the vaccine. I think this will be a major barrier that I fear some people aren't thinking about here.

So yeah, new norm.

This greedy fool used Covid relief funds to buy a Lambo.

- A Florida man has been charged with fraud and other criminal offences after he allegedly used COVID-19 relief funds to buy a Lamborghini and other luxury items.
According to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice on Monday, the 29-year-old man fraudulently applied for approximately US$13.5 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans for different companies.

We can't achieve herd immunity without the majority of people getting vaccinated. How will that work within Canada, will we impose forced authority? How will that work worldwide for that matter?
Even if we imposed vaccinations in Canada, what happens in the US, as we know it's a shit show down there. How will the border work in that regard?
There's so may barriers I'm seeing here, I can't see a logical way out.

I think it’s more likely that the “new norm” just becomes more people not giving a fuck and having parties and whatnot regardless.
Eventually people will fatigue with the regulations and while they will still follow stuff in place in public spaces like restaurants etc. I think privately people are just going to become more and more complacent. It’s hard not to.

prove vaccination prior to entry or travel, just like you have to do in some countries with yellow fever (Columbia for instance)

We will never be able to achieve herd immunity unless the majority of people get the vaccine. I think this will be a major barrier that I fear some people aren't thinking about here. | Some stuff might be able to be mitigated with PPE but for anything lengthy or that requires food/drinks it won't work. Being at a music festival wearing an N99 all day won't go well.
Possibly requiring proof of vaccination before entry is permitted? The pro-plaguers might make mandatory vaccination difficult but if they're denied permission to fly, enter some businesses, maybe even some apart complexes, etc. at least their negative impact will be reduced and a lot of them that aren't as hardcore about it will bail pretty quickly when they realize they can't do much. Of course there will always be idiots who get fake certs like some Americans going to the Bahamas which is where harsh precedents for those who knowingly put others at risk will have to come in.

There's so may barriers I'm seeing here, I can't see a logical way out. | I’ve already had to sit in front of someone just this past Sunday who is not a stupid man and owns 4 houses in Vancouver proper he rents out amongst other investments and he was going on ad nauseam about elites wanting to control us and that the virus was a way to force us into this and there would be a 2 tier system going forward where you can only travel if you accept a vaccination (and all the Bill Gates microchips inside them) or you can’t travel and that’s their way of forcing us all into line. He went so far as to proclaim he’s fine never to travel internationally again if that’s what it takes and homeschool his kids to keep them away from the vaccines too.
So yah, it’s going to be a big fucking problem |

I'm totally cool with other people never traveling again and homeschooling their children. The less I see of those kind of people the better.

They'd have been quite isolated too. That's how I'm staying optimistic about my 2 year old anyways, so nobody post up any statistics about them being more likely to be serial killers or something.

Anyone think this might be the start of when China becomes the defacto world power for the next century? They will easily achieve herd immunity when a vaccine is ready versus America.

Long life expectancy might actually work against your countries overall economic position. What you want is a large, young, mobile workforce that is willing to slave for the country ( what they have ). Pension plans, medical costs to care for the elderly, all those are costs that don't have to be paid if average life expectancy is artificially low because of the shit food.
Just a thought.
