Im actually in kelowna right now looking at some developments as well as trying out some wine tastings. The employees at vineyards are taking it seriously, the guests are not. Went through downtown kelowna and barely anyone wears a mask, enforcement/voluntarily adhering to the 2m apart rule is rarely followed, especially in the popup farmers markets. It's like there's no seriousness taken from the people, granted they blame vancouverites for the outbreaks but at the same time they need to at least take precautions seriously here.

Heading to the Okanagan on Monday, ready to rock onnnnnnn
In my experience there at least a few weeks ago the wineries generally put in procedures that allow people to be a bit more lax because the staff go above and beyond. However people are seemingly too dumb to follow basic instructions like where to enter and where to exit. But at the same time, businesses do a pretty poor job at clearly laying out their direction of traffic etc

This was at Oak and W King Edward RBC today.
It was a sticky screen even with my gloves on. People, wear gloves (or use tissue, use a touchscreen pen, brass buddy, etc) when touching high contact points in public places. Use your judgement.. who cleans an ATM machine at a bank on the weekend? No one. Better to be clean and safe yourself than relying on others to and expecting others to do the same.

I haven't gone to an ATM since March.
And this is from someone who withdrew cash every week pre-Covid

Translink makes this announcement today:
TransLink will require passengers to wear non-medical masks or face coverings while onboard transit vehicles, as of Aug. 24.
The decision is meant to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19 as physical distancing is not always possible on transit.
People with underlying health conditions or disabilities, as well as children under five years old will be exempt.
“Physical distancing is not always going to be possible on transit, particularly once more riders return to the system,” TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond says of the new policy. https://www.citynews1130.com/2020/08...ry-on-transit/

Hong Kong's cases are starting to slow down, we're in our second week of VERY strict rules, and they look to be effective so far.
My local post office is in one of the outbreak spots, so mail is rerouted to another location. I go all the way there to pick up a package, only to find out they are only open 3 days a week
Also it REALLY sucks to wear a mask in "feels like 43 degrees" weather, god damn. But we gotta do it. Suck it up!

Lets face it, the ones that are going to wear a mask on transit already do. The ones that refuse for one reason or other will be the uphill battle. The time allows them to educate and slowly cohort these people to consider one before the "deadline".
If the deadline were immediate with no adjustment period, these people would likely just dig their heels in and say "NO", or "You can't make me" or the classic " Well Nobody TOLD ME"
I don't know, just MO at trying to figure out the psychology of it all.

I'm not sure if it's because it's Walmart, but most of their employees (except maybe management), while very nice, are not as professional.
90% of their employees seem to be between 18 and 22, or 50+, and it shows how they work. The queensborough one most are not wearing masks or have it under their nose, and are always standing close to each other when they're working in teams.
Hopefully they enforce this aggressively, both for staff and customers.

Yea I've been to Langley, Vancouver, Richmond Walmarts and barely any of the employees wear mask plus they don't distance. Also there's no hand sanitizer for customers |

I don't get the logic, cuz aren't they more at risk if they have no Health and safety benefits if they get sick. They should be even more worried if they are barely making minimum wage and likely living paycheck to paycheck |

Was at superstore richmond yesterday. Maybe 30% of staff had masks on. Kind of disappointing since most of you know where I work, and we require all employees wear masks 100% of the time (other than lunch, but each seat has about 4-6’ spacing so we’re still distanced)

Wonder if it's a Surrey party since they don't say where but Fraser Heath. They should really be listing the address and floor of the person like they do in HK |
