Some people might actually have no options other than to carry on feeling ill or feeling well.

Been loosely following this one. Am I correct in understanding that we developed a vaccine, shared it with China for manufacturing. They basically say, fuck you we're taking this. You're not getting anything we make. We go oh, ok. Feels bad man.

This is what happens when you'd rather trust an authoritarian state who has constantly lied about something.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/amp/...joint-vaccine/

Canada wasn't involved with the research tho, they just licensed out a cell line to the company, in the license deal, phase 1 testing would've been done in Canada, and would get to produce the vaccine for emergency use/testing

Interesting findings from Fraser Institute:

In their July study (https://www.fraserinstitute.org/stud...g-with-parents)

Ottawa is transferring up to $11.8 billion to young people (aged 15 to 24) who live as dependents in families with at least $100,000 in household income. In almost every case, the benefits CERB provides to these young Canadians—almost one million of them—exceed their monthly earnings in 2019, actually making them better off now, during one of the worst recessions in Canadian history.

In new August study (https://www.fraserinstitute.org/stud...ted-assistance)

Our new analysis involves spouses who earned between $5,000 and $23,999 in 2019 and currently live in families with at least $100,000 in household income. These spouses—an estimated 581,000 of them—are eligible for CERB benefits and represent a potential CERB price tag of $7.0 billion (not counting the recent extension of the program for another month). These are individuals whose monthly income will be higher under CERB than when they were working.

Govt could have potentially spent up to ~19B on these two demographics (dependent young people <25 age living in household income >=100K, spouse with family income >=100K)

And it’s gonna be essential minimum wage grocery store workers who never took a penny paying all this back for decades to come

Edit: but you can’t have your cake and eat it too. I like Canada with its socialist programs and support systems. Someone’s gotta pay for it... all of us

Honestly, if history has taught us anything, our kids, kids, kids will be paying the same taxes even after the debt from this pandemic has been paid off.

The sheer amount of stupid people finally coming out from their sheds is the only explanation for this.

I stumbled across some "STOP TYRANNY IN CANADA" fb group and the collective amount of brainpower in there was about 4. They're all discussing ways to circumvent mask rules and how it's some government ploy to lie to everyone. Of course Bill Gates is mentioned numerous times.

Those people are seriously the dumbest pieces of trash on the planet. How they have survived to be adults is simultaneously an anomaly and a burden to all of us.

Hong Kong has essentially recovered from the second wave. Strict policies were lifted yesterday - we can no go outside and exercise without a mask. Restaurants can offer full dine in service until 9pm rather than 6pm. Salons, tattoo shops, etc can open again

This shows what needs to be done when numbers hit the triple digits out of nowhere. No need for full lockdown, but strict policies are needed in certain segments. Do this for a month or so while keeping tight border controls, and infections will go down. Will BC do the same?

It's truly mind boggling. As a tech guy, I've always been enamored by Bill Gates, and what he's done with Microsoft.

I would never have imagined he'd be turned into the supposed sex trafficking pedophile, eugenics advocate, that QAnon has now turned him into.

In our office we jokingly called the PM, "Oprah Trudeau". We'd wait for his morning announcements "Free money for you, you, and you!" We were debating when the prisoner relief package would be announced.

it seems like maybe HK is more on top of things on a day to day basis? i havent been following as closely as you.

i think people would be more open to another (or real) lockdown or whatever set of rules you want, if we believed our government here would be quick to make adjustments. like if all of a sudden a surge occurred like what we are seeing now, we would be more likely to comply and be supportive if we felt as soon as the numbers dropped down again, they would be relaxed to phase 2 or 3 if the numbers dropped immediately instead of an arbitrary decision system. like if the government said "ok numbers are over 100/day, we are back to phase 1 until numbers are under 50" i think most people are afraid our government might say "ok numbers are up, we are back to phase 1 indefinitely".

i also think, given the enormous size and massive social and density diversity in our province, it needs to be region by region. if greater vancouver is the reason for 99/100 new cases per day, it is hard for someone living in fort st john to be on board with going into lock down if they have had 0 new cases for weeks.

Save-Ons is slacking a bit on their online order pick-ups. Certain kinds of items seem to be out-of-stock when I arrive for pickup. They are always items that contain liquids that weigh more than a kilo. My last order had 5 items that weren't in stock. All of them were liquids, like juice.

I was fed up enough this time to break the seal and enter a grocery store for the first time in 5 months. I didn't feel like going into Save-Ons. 80% of people going in weren't wearing a mask. I went to H-Mart, and it was awesome. Everyone, except for the trash couple that probably got kicked from Superstore, was wearing a mask. The couple was easy to avoid, but fuck those bitches. Show some goddamn respect, and wear a fucking mask.

Didnt realize that Robert Kennedy's son is a nut

Quote:
The protests have also gained support from Robert F Kennedy Jr. The anti-vaccination campaigner, also the son of assassinated US Democratic presidential hopeful Robert F Kennedy and nephew of assassinated US President John F Kennedy, is at the demonstrations in Berlin.

Mr Kennedy told the crowd at the Victory Column that his uncle had famously addressed Berlin in 1963 to counter totalitarianism and that "today Berlin is again the front against totalitarianism", warning of a surveillance state and the power of 5G phone networks.

Photos shared online also showed flags and slogans linked to the conspiracy theory QAnon. The wide-ranging, unfounded conspiracy theory says that US President Donald Trump is waging a secret war against elite Satan-worshipping paedophiles in government, business and the media, among other claims.
