What if Covid sends you to the hospital only to reveal something more severe wrong with you, but since they caught it early getting Covid actually saved your life?

Her case was so severe in fact that she managed to snap some IG selfies while in the ICU

That's kind of the point of the story. She represents the clueless segment of the population who think they are invincible to everything, including covid. She was out partying, being dumb, and is the type of person to take selfies in the hospital. Then she died.

She is literally the people everyone is getting outraged about. The question is, how many others did she spread it to? How many of them had pre-existing conditions, or were old age?

How hard is it to NOT be selfish? Wearing a mask sucks to be sure, not partying sucks to be sure. But it's not difficult to do those things.

Well yea that’s kind of the irony in the way those stories are presented as “if it can happen to me it can happen to anyone!!”

Really? It can happen to Somone who takes precautions, wears a mask, and is up to date in matters of their health?

She hardly represents the norm which you clearly laid out yet the news positions the story like it’s just a regular, cautious, citizen when bu the looks of it she’s anything but.

Actual American politicians comparing wearing a mask to the Jews in nazi Germany. What the fuck is wrong with that country

You're missing the angle here. She's being used as a cautionary tale to convince people who are being negligent to take precautions, and wear a mask, because even though you think you are young and healthy, you can still get fucked.
It's not some super media conspiracy to tell people who are being cautious to get super scared.

From the first paragraph

Alison Lowe admits she didn’t take COVID-19 too seriously last summer, instead enjoying gatherings with her group of friends. “We made the most of our summer. We thought we were invincible, we really honestly thought we were invincible. I thought I was invincible, she said.
This article is calling out people who aren't taking it seriously. I'm not sure how you and welfare are interpreting it so differently... It's a very short, simple article

Hey all I'm saying is don't present a story in a manner that looks like there's some agenda. Or else people are likely to think there's, well, an agenda. Which was pretty evident in the comments of that story there and on Twitter.
Regardless of the intentions, i don't think it helps.

I can see the headlines already "covid saves young woman's life".
Man that story could have gone in a completely different direction

What is it you think the agenda is?

Because if you actually read it without looking for some weird agenda, it's just a story of a person admitting they didn't take it seriously because it turns out she had a condition that made it nearly deadly for her, and she wants to warn other dumb/ignorant kids not to be like her.

But I wonder what you think the actual "agenda" is? It's an incredible short, easy to digest story so I am genuinely curious what it takes to find extra meaning.

For the love of God.
I'm not saying there's an agenda behind the story, but it could certainly be viewed that way by some, and clearly was.
I mean ffs the video interview didn't even mention her tumor at all

Oh one other thing; i think it's pretty retarded that the emphasis of the whole story was covid when she's got a friggin tumor in her chest.
I mean really? I don't know about anyone else here but i know if i got covid, at 31, and they found a tumor in my lungs, the covid isn't gonna be my first priority. Call me crazy.

If you were at death's door unable to breathe on your own, covid is absolutely your first priority

If you survive that, then you can deal with whatever the tumor is. Could be anything from a benign cyst, to cancer

Yea. I get that. But you think they could have mentioned something like a tumor in her lungs a little more explicitly.
Rather than deceptively dropping it in the story, in a single sentence, at the end.

You think them blatantly editing that part of the story is a good idea?
That the segment of the population not taking it seriously aren't going to see that garbage and use it to assure themselves?
It's no wonder people don't trust these clowns in the media and then go off on their conspiracy tangents
The story was on cbc or global news when I first saw it, and half of the coverage was about how they found a tumour, and they showed the xrays of it as well, so she has another battle ahead of her, if the tumour isn't benign, and she's not completely recovered from her covid struggle

What got me is she's like "omgggggg I can't believe it.... but no I wouldn't have changed my summer"

Do you know how many Canadians age 30-39 have died from covid?
16.
Looking at previous stats, that same age bracket, the number is probably 40-50 times that for cancer this year.

I'm not saying this thing isn't nasty if you get a severe case. I know of several people who've gotten it bad. But there are much more fatal and prevalent illnesses (like cancer) for people in that age group.

Yes, and between covid and cancer, one can be mitigated by taking certain actions, and avoiding other activities. Also you can help prevent other people from getting it. And only one has the potential to rapidly spread across a population, overcrowding and shutting down hospitals in a bad enough scenario.

I feel for her ordeal and wish her better health, but all the comments about her makeup honestly are kinda hilarious ngl.

Other interesting fact through google-fu, she claims to be a PHD candidate turned MLM pusher though:
