So I'm seeing more and more posts (poorly done memes, really) from retarded 'deniers' saying the death rate is very low, only x number of people have died, this is all a scam, blah blah. But how is 'death by covid' defined? Is it if you were hospitalized due to covid, and died, it counts regardless of actual mechanism of death? If someone had a preexisting condition that was exacerbated by covid, does that still count? And I guess, are all provinces/states/countries etc using the same metric/criteria? Like there are stats that say so many people died from car accidents in a year, but the actual cause of death could be blunt force trauma, internal bleeding, metal rod in the head, etc. |
Death certificates have multiple methods of death listed if applicable. Either way, if you get pneumonia due to covid, you died from covid. The death certificate lists both. I don’t know where they decided that if you have cancer and you died in a car accident that it’s not the car accident that killed you because you were going to die from cancer anyways, but that’s the direction that argument goes. |
The universal check should be the deaths/month/region compared to previous years, though even that will be a bit low as few people driving = fewer car accidents, etc. Of course the deniers just claim those numbers are fake so it's hard to get through to them. Then of course there's all the people who are "recovered" but are still suffering the long term effects. It's not like death is the only potential negative outcome here. |
203 in this past day, and an elementary school has an outbreak |
https://www.reddit.com/r/instantkarm...ne_on_the_bus/ That's pretty disgusting that the lady spat on the guy. |
Is there any context as to why she did that? Someone called her out for not wearing a mask? She should be charged with assault |
She deserved the Leonidas kick to the chest |
similar shit happened to me.. just before COVID.. I took skytrain to work and some random dude spat on milk bottle and threw it on my direction. Called transit police, and they actually caught the guy who did it. Apparently he's known to police and it's not first time doing that. He is mentally unstable native. No charges were laid to him. I was taking sky train instead of driving to contribute to reduce congestion.. since then, fuck that shit.. it actually costs more to go on public transit than drive everyday (since I am paying for insurance and other stuff whether I decide to commute to work via transit or my car anyway, and cost of gas is cheaper than cost of transit fare) Unfortunately, the world is full of crazy people. If cops were involved, if anything, they'd be more interested in charging poor guy who got span on during pandemic than the woman. |
Native? How dare you |
That's insane. I wish someone would try that to me in public, the fun I would have with them, I envy your stories. my inner beast has been itching :) Speaking of that Alison Lowe person, I somewhat agree with welfare on that one. It seems as though she's using this diagnosis as a bit of a PR stunt/marketing tool, perhaps not the best representation of a person you should be looking at for guidance on COVID. I've lost track what people are even arguing about in this thread anymore. |
Alberta is trying out rapid testing at YYC and US border https://torontosun.com/news/national...nal-travellers |

Seems pretty reasonable doing something like that with Singapore.. Not sure I'd do it with the US though :heckno: |
should've called the police and have her charged with assault. but now she just walks away with some scratches. |

Vancouver city council wanted to make masks mandatory in civic offices/buildings but a group of anti maskers went to protest so council members voted against mandating, but instead to "encourage" masks https://www.citynews1130.com/2020/10...ndatory-masks/ Yikes Quote:

My GF and I are planning a vacation to Mexico in January or February. We originally were trying to do the Philippines, but I doubt they'll be open by then. If I'm quarantined on the way back, I'm fine, because I work from home. She's a nurse however, so it's a little more shitty for her. Given that recent news, anyone believe we'll be back to a full on lockdown by January? I'd like to buy my plane tickets in the next month or so here and book my trip, but don't want to get fucked over. |
Thinking right now any air travel is a gamble. There's no way to predict the future. I tend to be on the cautious side though. |
I think everything outside of Canada will be the easy part. I’d wager you’ll have no issue from the Mexican side or departing Canada. It’s just going to be coming home that may cause issues. Maybe if they have testing on site by then it would streamline the process |

By February I should hope rapid testing will be available at all major Canadian airports. I'd probably bet on it, tbh. |
