The new orders focus on social gatherings, travel, indoor group exercises and workplaces.

Residents of the two affected health regions are being told not to engage in social interactions outside their immediate households. Weddings and funerals can proceed, as long as they include only immediate household members.

Henry strongly recommended that travel in and out of the Fraser Health region and Vancouver Coastal Health region be limited to essential travel only.

Businesses and recreation centres have been ordered to stop holding indoor group physical activities for two weeks, including yoga, spin, dance, and group fitness classes.

Indoor sports where physical distancing can't be maintained are suspended, though this does not apply to physical activities in schools.

Henry said workplaces must ensure physical distancing, especially in break rooms and kitchens. She said businesses that can't maintain COVID-19 protocols will be shut down by health officers and restaurants that can't adhere to safety plans may have to revert to take-out only.

Party buses and limousines are ordered to stop operating immediately.

So restaurants are still allowed because of their safety measures... An empty table beside you... But having dinner at say your parents house where it's just your mom and dad or something will be banned for 2 weeks... Good luck with that... There's more risk at work than elsewhere. The whole safe 6 thig was flawed from the beginning. My safe 6 isn't the same as my best frjends safe 6 and someone in his will have others, etc and etc..

Just do a fucking privince wide lock down. Shut down bars and restaurants and start actually giving out tickets, not warnings. Halloween on granville should've had every cop there writting 2000$ tickets to every persom standing there..

Its just easier to punish everyone than to punish people that deserve it. 2020 logic right there

So the people who were there were all unaware of the current situation the province and rest of the world is in? They were there to party... They deserve it.

AzNightmare 11-07-2020 01:46 PM

It's tough for me to relate since I'm a homebody...

But is it really that hard for everyone to just stay the fuck home and not have a gathering for 2 weeks?

320icar 11-07-2020 01:49 PM

There seems to be mass confusion. I’m fully aware my parents can no longer come see the baby (even though we are extremely restricted and safe). But can we go for a walk? Or is that still considered gathering.

Is it restricted to indoors only, or both indoor/outdoor and I can’t see anyone.

(You know, ignoring the fact i see 6000+ strangers a day at my job)

Not specifically directed at you, but I think the problem with that logic is that for many people who are already more exposed at work, will figure what difference does it make if they gather outside of work then.

If they're in an office with 50 staff, then no difference being at a house party of 50.

westopher 11-07-2020 02:00 PM

There’s a huge difference though if the office is taking all the required safety measures to be open. People aren’t doing that at a house party.

Sorry i was being sarcastic. i actually agree with what you posted. I find it extremely unfair that people who've been following the guidelines and doing everything they can to flatten the curve are being punished for people who simply dgaf

I apologize as well. After rereading I realized you meant punish everyone as in everyone in the province. I read it as punish everyone downtown which is why my reply may have sounded snarky.

Teriyaki 11-07-2020 02:09 PM

I am in favor of this. Just removes most of the if, when, whos, and buts. There were so many people making personal loopholes for themselves out of pure convenience.

Not a perfect plan, but hopeful that the message reaches enough people to flatten the curve somewhat.

Have friends in nursing that have been waiting for something like this since they've been seeing the exponential increase for the last little while now.

Still no mandatory face mask

320icar 11-07-2020 02:14 PM

So, no dog walks with my parents? Can someone give me a firm yes or no, if the immediate household persons applies to both indoor and outdoor, or only indoor.

westopher 11-07-2020 02:15 PM

It says just indoor.
Edit: I misread. It’s unclear.

Exactly lol. It’s unclear so everyone I know is all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Producer 11-07-2020 02:54 PM

once again small business taking the financial hit.

white collar will just keep "working from home" with no difference. "essential business" (ie big business) will continue to operate as per before.

the spin studio owner gets fucked.

inconveniences are not hardships. losing income is a hardship.

Personally I’d say walks are fine.

Gotta get my partying on till 10pm

twitchyzero 11-07-2020 03:55 PM

"2 weeks"
just like how the border closure was "1 month"

i seriously hope we're ready to deal with an increased alcohol and drug overdose too

SkinnyPupp 11-07-2020 04:04 PM

"2 Weeks" likely means "2 weeks at a time" and can evaluate what to do after each period. Either stronger lockdowns, or more relaxed.

If people are responsible, numbers will start to show signs of flattening after 2 weeks. Expect at least 4 weeks though

RRxtar 11-07-2020 04:12 PM

2 weeks to flatten the curve. Rinse repeat

Pretty much all you can do before a vaccine is available.. Otherwise you end up like France, Germany, UK, US

StylinRed 11-07-2020 05:08 PM

So my father just got a call saying he was exposed to someone who may now be infected, his buddy's wife n kids have tested positive, his buddy hasn't tested positive yet, but my father did visit his buddy

Small businesses taking the hit while corporations rake it in.

I feel every time COVID-19 restriction orders are issued, all the language is very vague but I do understand these orders have to be performance based.
We don't need short order statements, we need details on what these orders entail or provide guidelines supporting these orders so we know what "compliance" looks like.

It frustrates me that masks are still not mandated; even though I know even if it is, not everyone is going to wear it.
But I do know people who are not wearing it is because it's not mandatory/required.

I've stopped listening to these briefings since April because I do what I feel is safe and go way above and beyond to ensure the health and safety of my family.
