maybe you have to have special provisions for students who do not have devices to attend in person school. What .. 10-20% at most?
Not sure what the true numbers are but since the school board opted against it, I would only hope there was a really reason behind it.

-Masks are required in all INDOOR public and retail spaces.
-mandatory masks in shared workspaces like offices, retail area with interactions with customers.
Dr. Bonnie is advising people to minimize social interactions in work environments.
This is a key point. I always see a bunch of older staff in my workspace, talk at their cubicles. People in their 50s and 60s.
-not even close to minimum 6 feet for social distancing between them! They better wear a mask at the office now. I'm wearing my mask when I am in the office!

Masks mandatory in indoor public spaces among new B.C. COVID-19 restrictions
Quote:
VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) — Masks will be required in retail and indoor places, except for schools, as part of the new COVID-19 directives announced Thursday.
The new restrictions are aimed at reducing social interactions in order to stop the spread of the virus and apply to the entire province as high case counts continue in the second wave of the pandemic.
“We knew that every pandemic that we’ve ever had, has had more than one wave,” said Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry. “And this has been proving to us, and to people around the globe, that this is a challenging virus to deal with in spite of where we may be today.”
All in-person religious services are also banned for two weeks, while the entire province is to only socialize with their “immediate household,” with some exceptions.
Employers will need to focus on keeping people working at home as much as possible.
Gatherings under 50 people that were previously allowed aren’t anymore. There is an exception for funerals, weddings, and baptisms with fewer than 10 people.
This comes as the province announced 538 new infections and one death.

I was expecting more but I guess this will have to do ... for now... she still sounds too nice all the time. Need an angry Bonnie like the angry Obama.
So High Intensity Training is banned, BUT low intensity is allowed ... how do they judge or enforce that? So they can do HIIT but at 70% speed so it's ok?
Dance classes are also allowed ... is there specifics like no ball room dancing or cha cha but you can do the running man 6 feet apart?
Dr. Bonnie did not mention anything about outdoor gatherings.
What if some guys, girls, and their homies gather outside during New Year's Eve celebrations with nobody wearing a mask?
Why should that type of gathering be allowed during this pandemic??
My understanding is it's a blanket ban of no social gatherings, indoor or out. You weren't allowed to gather outside with people outside of your household (i mean, you could go on walks social distancing and stuff, but no 'gatherings'). They just extended that by also banning the 50 gatherings with controls. So no gatherings, period.
Now, there's that march of morons happening this weekend again, so we'll see how/if they actually enforce this.
This has always been an issue; there will never be enough people to enforce. Heck, we are still trying to catch people who break their quarantine.

A good concept; maybe the colder weather... the transmission will kill COVID. Didn't happen even in Nunavut and Atlantic Canada. India is hot a F, Spain, Brazil were hot during the summer months; still didn't help.

I always wonder what it is like for work; amazon warehouse workers, distribution centers, essential workers lunch rooms... still crazy 50+ people and they aren't bounded by these rules.
All in all, the crazy transmission has always been the home gathering / parties / get togethers, where the MOMENT you walk into someone's house, within 5 min, you take off your mask.. and that's when it hits.
Retail, restaurants, shopping centers are the last of helath BC's concern.
Air temperature doesn't affect transmission rates, it's the number of people gathering indoors and low humidity apparently. People in hot climates gather in A/C rooms when it's hot.
So for us, why not switch to Summer school, when presumably we have lower rates of transmission in the community? Only push back we'll see is probably from the tourism industry and the kids themselves. But it'll only be for one more season, hopefully.

Love them?
Hold on to them like there's no tomorrow. Get to know them better? Here's their chance. So many parents out there have no idea how to talk to their kids. Kids are an inconvenience. It's like the statistic that show domestic violence is on the rise. Too many parents into themselves.
You'd figure a pandemic like this would bring families together, not break them apart.
Have a family pow wow..... that's what my wife and I called it. Talk it out, come up with rules and boundaries. What they hate and like, then work from there. Respect is key.
This is a crisis and it should be an opportunity to strengthen the bonds between family members. Sounds kind of sucky, but...................
And, whatever you do, don't lose it in front of your kids. How you react to this crisis is probably the most important......... OK, I'll just shut up.

MG1 there are a lot of single parents, or two parents who work full time. We don’t have affordable child care here, people aren’t suppose to be socializing. What are parents suppose to do who can’t afford to lose $3000/mo by staying home with the kids

I understand that, and I truly feel for them, but there are people out there who have a choice.
When shit hits the fan, people have to make supreme sacrifices. Hopefully this crisis won't go on forever.

I always love when a prank caller gets through on cbc' BC Today. Today a man called in saying we should have road checks, with guards, and (now in a bad german accent) said you must produce your papers, as proof you don't have Covid. Only this time, the host took the call seriously and posed the question to her guest. The guest just said there would be logistical and legal difficulties, and so on. Funny and scary when obvious satire is mistaken for legitimate suggestions of authoritarian measures, and people are willing to consider them.
