Fuck that shit........... build an internment camp for the homeless. Barnston Island would be perfect, lol (old Revscene joke/reference).

I think it is both a bit pre-mature yet at the same time heindsite is 20/20 to harp on sweden for their response. Sweden didnt spend the kind of money Canada did at the beginning of the pandemic. They tried a different approach when everyone was learning what the right approach should be. Remember when we were told to absolutely not under any circumstances wear a Mask? Where are we now? Canada isn't out of the woods eitehr here and by all accounts, we are just getting into the real shit of this second wave. Once all the dust settles on Covid in 2-3 years or however long that is going to be, I would bet you the majority of Countries end up somewhere around the same effect. We will all have a pile of cases, a lot of lives lost, and generations of money spent. Canada absolutely didn't do it right either. We spent all the money we could spend in the first 4 months before Covid actually took hold. Now that money is gone, we cant afford the handouts and bailouts a second time, and Covid is taking off like a rocket ship, even after 10 months of learning what to do... (masks in some places and dont stand too close together if you can).

No, they went against what pandemic experts have known for centuries, and ignored new science as well. They completely ignored countries that were more successful than others, and did WORSE than the countries that did poorly.

With masks, yes officially they thought masks weren't useful unless they were N95, etc, but again you look at the countries that quickly adopted mask wearing and how much better off they were because of it. We talked about that for weeks before it became "official" from WHO and CDC.

Sure hindsight is 20/20, but it's not a huge leap to predict how they would most likely end up. We had arguments about it here when it was happening (and even after it was proven to be a mistake but those are just people trolling)

Our mask directives weren't a matter of the unknown, they just didn't want us hoarding all the supply, and leaving medical staff sol

Yup, and surgical masks were never really a concern for hospitals, it was N95 that they literally didn't have enough of (to the point where the US was stealing them from Germany and Canada)

I can see why you wouldn't want people going nuts over masks, but they did anyway over toilet paper and hand sanitizer. So overall it was a horrible idea to lie and say masks weren't needed when the evidence clearly showed otherwise.

There's also a 10yr old video of Dr tam saying a possible solution of control, during a hypothetical pandemic, would be internment camps for those refusing a vaccine, the nut jobs are passing it around like its the end of the world (someone on my fb sent it to me eek)

This is just shoot in’ the shit, but I’d assume the average health of a swede would be much much better than an American.

I don't know where you are getting your info. I feel like it is random public perception that hospitals were all stocked up. My wife and most of her friends are nurses in various Metro Vancouver hospitals, and there are a few doctors in her family. Between March and May, many of the hospitals were tight on masks. They had to keep locking them up because there was a ton of internal theft. They were re-using masks multiple times when typically they would be thrown out.

Our hospital was also really tight on masks (not just N95s) and other PPE until mid-late May IIRC. Reserved for individuals doing direct patient care until then.

One of the biggest issues for Canada, was that a lot of time was wasted dealing with pipeline protest and no one in the federal level were talking about this virus.

I recall late january, around CNY, there were pictures circulating online where people where hoarding all P95/N95 masks and sending them to asia.

*** Edit

Heck, OP posted January 21st. The first things I saw online about the outbreak in China was at the end of November. The Canadian government pretty much didn't do anything for Canada till much later after everyone locally started to freak out.
