Lots of wahhhh wahhhh wahhhh in here.

Its a global pandemic for crying out loud. So what you miss one Christmas dinner with extended family you dont really get along with. By this time next year we're back to normal if the vaccine rollout goes smooth (knock on wood)

Count your blessings we still have many businesses still open and we're not under harsher restrictions like the rest of the world.

And agree with everyone our police aren't doing their Jo s when it comes to covid restriction enforcement, and the penalties should be much stiffer, including jail time (like what they needed to do in Australia to curb the rise)

the parts of the world with harsher restrictions are already mostly back to normal

you're okay with our current situation for another 9 months minimum? even if we average a handful of deaths daily?

I think its a bit optimistic to think things will be back to normal in a year. I think alot of people didn't think things would be where they are now, back in the spring.

No one even knows if the vaccine is actually going to work for sure, so I wouldn't be putting all of my hopes in that basket. No one, including Pfizer, knows if you can still carry and transmit the virus after vaccination. No one even knows if you're immune, or if you just might get a little less sick when you do get the virus. No one knows if you need to keep getting booster shots after. Theres reports of healthy people who have gotten the vaccine during the trial stage and their side effect symptoms in the days following the shot were worse than what they would have been if they had gotten Covid. The follow up shots had worse symptoms than the first one. That itself might continue to kill people in marginal health.

“There’s nothing there [in Pfizer’s data] that suggests that people are less transmissible. All we know is individuals who got the vaccine had less symptomatic disease than people who didn’t get the vaccine.”

Chagla added the trials also showed that individuals who received the vaccine tended to have less severe disease than those who weren’t vaccinated or received a placebo.

Dr. Mario Ostrowski, an immunology professor at the University of Toronto and an infectious disease consultant at St. Michael's Hospital, said vaccine developers won’t be able to tell if vaccinated individuals can still transmit the virus until the vaccine is distributed on a large scale.

“The only way you’re going to tell that spreading is not occurring is by looking at the incidence rates,” he explained during a telephone interview on Tuesday.

“You have to wait until a majority of the population has been vaccinated. So really you can’t answer that question until the vaccine has been rolled out.”

This is not just about Christmas, its about the 12 months as a whole. Our leadership has been behind the 8ball right from the get go. From border control, quarantining, social distancing, mandating masks, to half ass restrictions and locksdowns. When we're half assing everything we gonna get half ass results, which is why this restricted christmas is just the cherry on top of the cake of this entire debacle. And its been said many times, it doesnt help that theres no enforcement for the rules and we have to watch Dr. Bonnie Henry and Horgan scratch their heads trying to figure out why the curve hasnt flattened. We've been forced to live through amateur hour for the past year and im just sick of it.

Wow... this virus is really designed to reshape humanity as a whole.

It's potentially more deadly to elders and now it'd prevent babies to be born in the first place?

I know some people don't like it when I report what's going on here, but I personally like seeing how other countries are handling it on a meta level. So maybe others do too...

So we're back to 100 cases a day, entering another lockdown. Restaurants, bars, etc, closed after 6pm (restaurants takeout only). During the day it's 2 people per table still. Gyms, salons, tattoo shops, etc all shut down for 2 weeks.

This is all the same stuff they did in July, and you can see the results in the chart above. A few changes though:

They increased the fine of non compliance to $5000

Also they will now put entire housing estates under mandatory quarantine if there's a breakout there. This is the one that would freak out Americans and Canadians I think. We already have babies crying about wearing a mask, what would they do if they literally couldn't leave their house?

Sorry what? Source pls.
How is there any indication that someone who had adverse reactions to the vaccine wouldn't have gotten a much more adverse reaction if they had caught COVID itself?

They need to make the fine like 50K per person regardless if you're the host or attendee. If people don't have the money, throw them in jail for 2 weeks. We need the punishment to be severe and enforced so that these anti mask, dgaf about shit idiots aren't an issue.
Can you indicate the demographic of this person's friend? Just curious

How does someone even say “I feel worse after the vaccine than I would have if I had gotten COVID”?

That’s so stupid I don’t even know where to start with it... People living in their own choose your own adventure book? Don’t like the result just go back to make another choice? Pretty powerful psychic abilities there!

^That can easily be a placebo affect. I've heard a number of people who said they felt "even worse" or "like shit" after a flu vaccination, and others, no affect. I wouldn't take it with much credence.

I think that talk refers to people who actually got covid and it was like a couple hour sinus infection or less etc.

Then they see people who get the vaccine and they are laid up for days as a result feeling terrible and the reaction is that actually getting the virus was less painful than the after effects of the vaccine.

Of course it’s impossible to tell what your symptoms may be and the severity until you actually catch covid.

https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/coro...neca-vaccines/

During the initial Pfizer trial, 2 died that received vaccine, 4 that were only given placebo.

FDA's website with all kinds of info on the Pfizer study:

But the deaths are said to raise no new safety issues or questions about the vaccine’s effectiveness because all represented events that occurred in the general population at a similar rate, the FDA concluded.
Relevant statement.
1.52 million people have died from covid as well, which is also pretty relevant.
