Japan may have seriously fucked things over, especially the chance at having the Olympics go as planned

CDC has increased their travel alert for Japan to level 2 (elderly and at-risk not to go unless absolutely necessary)

CorneringArtist 02-22-2020 05:36 PM

Italian soccer top flight has cancelled three Sunday games in the affected regions over the spread there. Japanese league is mulling over postponing until things improve.

Old man in northern Italy just died from it. No direct linkage to China so this bastard is spreading like the normal flu now. Ruhhhhh oooohhhhh

StylinRed 02-22-2020 06:01 PM

Well yeah with the delay China had in stopping this, and the fact the rest of the world didn't really take it seriously, even after knowing it spreads easily, hope for containment went out the door

Coronavirus outbreak edges closer to pandemic (Washington Post)

It's likely this is just the start and we could be battling the Coronavirus well into 2021. Stock up all before Vancouver is shut down.

Lee Valley, the store that sells useless, over priced items to yuppies............. gulolol.

They still have them in store (Coquitlam location). Sold out everywhere else and on-line.

https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/topi.../respsars.html

I purchase one with extra filters. They are really comfortable. Low profile and very light. I can now airspray my models with ease. Have to wait until it gets warmer, though. I'm too cheap to heat up the rape dungeon and fire up the spray booth. Poor results and extended drying time. Nope.

EDIT: I lied. Burlington, Edmonton, and Kelowna locations have limited stock at the moment.............

welfare 02-23-2020 09:38 AM

I know they're trying to keep panic levels reduced, but telling people that testing/assessment is not recommended for people who've been in contact with this most recent case seems to cross that line into irresponsibility.

On a side note, flu season is here and there's no better timing than Costco having a sale on ColdFX. This week only.......... shit, I think the sale ends today. It's good for two years, so I'm gonna git me some today!

It helps build your immune system to fight off flu. It's too late if you have flu, but prevention is key. As a senior and a diabetic, I get free flu shots, but I have yet to get it. Damn, maybe I should............

Air Canada has confirmed that a passenger aboard one of its flights from Montreal to Vancouver on Valentine's Day has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.

whitev70r 02-23-2020 12:52 PM

I found out that ColdFX ingredient is primarily Ginseng. Looks like my mother-in-law was right all along. You can get pure form of Canadian Ginseng from Jamieson for cheaper.

Hondaracer 02-23-2020 01:38 PM

If you believe that coldFX actually works.

StylinRed 02-23-2020 01:39 PM

Coldfx is a scam, thought everyone knew already

Hondaracer 02-23-2020 01:53 PM

I’ve rarely gotten colds and flus my entire life but in the last 3-4 years I haven’t been sick once

While it’s not a closed experiment really I chalk it up to completely stopping taking any sort of oral painkiller, anti inflammatory etc. Tylenol, Advil, etc.

All that shit fucks with your gut biome and as a result makes you more susceptible to bad bacteria and germs, I’ve seen a marked improvement in even short term runny noses etc since I stopped all that stuff

I believe Ginseng works to build up immunity and is probably good for other things. I believe ColdFX is way overpriced.

StylinRed 02-23-2020 04:45 PM

Is it really ginseng tho? It's some extract of it ehhh..

https://nationalpost.com/health/clas...to-fight-colds

whitev70r 02-23-2020 05:28 PM

^ That's why I just get the pure Ginseng from Jamieson or other brands. Forget the filler that ColdFX puts in and charge twice as much.

SkinnyPupp 02-23-2020 05:42 PM

I thought about immunity boosters as well. There are several substances that can increase immunity. However this shit is super virulent with an R0 between 3.11-4.08 (swine flu pandemic had 1.46, really nasty flus can be a 2 or 3 in densely populated areas)

No amount of immunity boosters will prevent you from getting COVID-19 if the virus comes into contact with your eyes or mouth. I suppose it doesn't hurt anything but your wallet if you take it though... Don't count on it though, be sure to take other precautions, especially washing your hands regularly.

StylinRed 02-23-2020 06:23 PM

Garlic, ginger, ginseng, turmeric, chilli peppers, etc just increase all those in your diet, exercise, clean, clean, clean, and fingers crossed

If you're young and healthy: Astralagus

If you're old and not the best diet: Astralagus + Vitamin E

Also probiotics. EVERYONE should be taking this unless your diet is perfect.

That's not how the immune system works. You can't boost it, only train it. For it to know how to fight something, it would need to have been exposed to it at one point. There are people out there with boosted immune systems but unfortunately they have conditions like psoriasis or crohn's disease which are caused by the immune system being unbalanced.
