What are your allergies? I have an anaphylactic nut allergy, but it sounds like the food allergy issues are becoming a lot more specific than they reported originally, where they kind of implied anyone with allergies should avoid it.

Those of you who got it, what is your personal situation that bumped you to the front of the line?

Also, what side effects did you experience, if any?

hospital worker. my role in emergency room bumped me ahead of my colleagues.

side effects: sleepiness for a few hours after injection, muscle soreness for 1 day. that's it.

My Mother-In-Law just got her Pfizer shot a few days ago. No side effects whatsoever. She's over 80 years old. She did test positive for COVID a month ago.

This was the last update I got from the place. No idea what the numbers are as of today, but holy cow!

Of the 1000 deaths in BC how many happened in care homes? 900?

It tallies up pretty quick when all these places are seeing 15/20/40 deaths. Pretty sad state

One of my moms best friends Dad had quickly progressing Alzheimer’s. He was also a big guy and was becoming increasingly violent/hard to handle for the family so they had no choice but to put him in a care home when a spot became available. Fast forward a month into living there and he got covid and died last week, he was 80.

Kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don’t scenario

Edit: not the allergy one.. paraphylaxis? I dunno what it’s called but when your body freaks out, pass out and throw up etc

Pussiphylaxis

Lol I used to be like that giving blood but I’ve gotten in the habit of getting blood tests annually or semi annually and it’s become fine

I'm one of the lucky ones. No major allergies. I can eat ice cream, peanuts, eggs, drink milk, pineapple juice, etc. I'm probably allergic to some seafood (don't know as I avoid anything crustacean - insects of the sea, I say). Anyway, as a student of Strathcona Elementary, we received all kinds of shots. Even shit mad scientists probably came up with for shits and giggles. I mean who cares about kids from the DTES, right? (Like Compound V). The one shot, however, that really did me in to the point I thought I was going to die was the Shingles vaccine, Shingrix. Pain from my fingertips to my dick. I shit you not. I used to say, yeah, whatever you got, doc, give it to me. Not after the Shingrix. On top of that, the cost of the fucking vaccine wasn't covered by anybody. A bit expensive, but the killer was having to get it twice. I thought the first one was bad. The second one was twice as deadly. They now say it's not 100 % and I might have to do it again. Someone told me what I experienced was what you go through on a daily basis if you actually get shingles. I felt better after hearing that, lol.

I've had enough people tell me of the misery of actual shingles that if nothing else knowing when you're gonna be feeling it makes the shot worth it. I know a guy who got it on vacation in Europe, that sounds like a terrible way to soend your trip.

I remember getting the Polio vaccine. It was administered orally. Red drops on sugar cubes. Looked delicious, but tasted like crap.

For y'all that got the shingrex, true that you need to be over 50 to get it? Was told that it's limited to those over 50 by my physician. Family member recently got hit with shingles and only in their 30s. Not cool.

i had shingles twice. once at 25, again at 30. I was lucky that (relatively) young age meant the symptoms were pretty mild. both times left scars though.

both times manifested under immense stress. I just don't let myself get to that point anymore. still get pretty freaked out if the telltale sunburn prickle feeling comes along. this is usually only at the onset of the good old seasonal flu though.

confirmed - it's def def not cool

my wife had shingles a couple years ago....30 years old

refering to above, that's terrible to hear about all the people getting COVID at Harmony Court. my grandma was there for about 4-5 years. she passed about 3 years ago now. I can't imagine what it would be like having a grandparent in a facility like that these days

So what's with some doctors in BC getting their second shot ahead of time? Every profession has their bad apples, but doctors?
