Eligible for early vaccination due to the nature of my work. I usually don't get sick but planning on getting the 1st dose before the long weekend so I have time to recover if the side effects hit hard. Fingers crossed I guess.

there's a 15 minute sit & wait if you have any side effects of a major allergic reaction. so there's a group of you waiting till everything is okay being monitored by nurses.

Everyone's genetic make up is different, i have an aunt who took the vaccine and had no side effects at all.

they say don't take any anti-inflammatory before the shot too cause you're body needs to know it has to ramp up.

B.C. government is announcing a bigger cash grab, I mean deterrent to make people think twice about attending large gatherings. LUL

https://www.citynews1130.com/2021/03...ovid-19-fines/

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – B.C. is raising some fines for those who continue to attend large gatherings, despite public health orders prohibiting them.

The province is bumping up fines for those who attend parties or other non-compliant gatherings from $230 up to $575, saying the previous amount wasn’t enough to deter people from breaking the rules.

“I am disappointed that a small minority of British Columbians continue to put their health and the health of others at risk by attending unsafe gatherings,” said Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General Mike Farnworth. “This selfish behaviour needs to stop, and police and provincial enforcement authorities will be able to issue these new fines immediately.”

The fine for hosting large events is still capped at $2,300.

The fines for people who ignore mask rules and other measures as part of the provincial health order remain at $230 each.

Keith baldrey was on 980 this morning talking about the increase

Said only 10% of the 1200 or so fines have been paid and it’s unsure whether they will eventually be sent to collections or not.. lol

1 possible solution to get some of the money - don't pay = not allowed to renew your car insurance when it expires until the ticket is paid off.

Isn’t that how the port mann tolls were handled?

Paying and disputing tickets

it's what they do for traffic fines. There's got to be a way to incorporate something similar.

Eventually you’d think it would have to come to that. He speculated on it going to collections and that it may be under works but would have to be some sort of means to collect

Loud exhausts are more of a menace than COVID apparently.

G 03-25-2021 01:15 PM

I think a lot of people are holding back on receiving the vaccine just because it is AZ and not Pfizer or Mod....I haven't really been following much of this thread, but is it true that common folk are only able to choose AZ?

Well there was that lady at Long Beach that refused to wear a mask because she was breathing out Carbon Monoxide lol

Pretty much luck of the draw.
My cousin who was the star of every sport he played, is a cardio maniac and gym freak and is now a fireman in the states got his second shot, he told me he was bed-ridden for 3 days straight.

On the opposite side of the spectrum I also know a nurse who doesn't really take care of herself at all in terms of fitness and diet, was completely fine after both shots. She said just a sore arm for the day.

My mom got her shot today it was the Pfizer she says she’s fine so far (75 years old)

At this point in time aged based vaccinations and clinically vulnerable are getting the Pfizer/Moderna shots.

Those working in certain prescribed industries outside of the current age group are getting the AZ shot

Is this the only fireman you know? They are the biggest whiners and abusers of the union mentality out of anyone. Haha.

But saying that.... early on during covid, didn’t they say it could effect people in great physical shape more then others?

Obsideon 03-26-2021 11:59 AM

Yeah on a personal level he's the only fireman I know. I was not aware of that, I thought they were the most respected. He just started so not sure if his mentality will change but he works hard and he's the rookie of the corp so he's getting hazed hard. First to wake, last to sleep. Has to cook and clean for everyone, etc.

Is there an article that says this?
My mother in-law is diabetic and had a minor stroke a few years ago and is refusing to get the vaccine cause she thinks she is going to get the AZ shot.

Teriyaki 03-26-2021 03:30 PM

900+ cases and the stronger variant is taking hold and rapidly replacing the original.
I would not be surprised to see a daily total over 1000+ over the weekend at all.

Wonder what your thoughts are on new variant and how you'll change behaviour if any. I haven't seen any serious concern or discussion on it at all aside from them being mentioned in the press releases so far.

Hondaracer 03-26-2021 03:34 PM

Hospitalizations down

No change in behaviour. I’ve got plans in Whistler next weekend

mikemhg 03-26-2021 03:50 PM

No change in behavior as well. Just got back from the gym, about to go for beers at a brewery with a friend tonight.

Business as usual.

Tell her the quicker she gets the vaccine the greater the chance she will get Pfizer or Moderna

Re: 900 cases, FFS it's like we blew a 5 goal lead in the 3rd period cause half the players want to go for beers before the game ends.

Gumby 03-26-2021 04:26 PM

So the news is reporting that they’re seeing increased cases of COVID in young adults in their 30s and 40s. Wonder if Hondaracer and mikemhg fall into that age bracket?

320icar 03-26-2021 05:11 PM

All you have to do is go to a Costco any day of the week to see why cases are going up. Soooo fucking busy all the time

EsSenTIal SerViCEs!!!11

The best part about being an 'essential service' are all the poor retail workers stuck having to work inside a mall. I stopped by Metrotown last weekend to pick something up and it was busy as fuck in there. It was ridiculous
