Throw an AstraZeneca shot in my fuckin peehole I don’t care. I’ll take the 1/100000 chance of a non fatal blood clot to get things back to somewhat normal. Come on NDP don’t ruin it for the rest of us.

^ don’t worry. No word on vaccination for “essential” airline crew. So I wouldn’t sweat it yet. Although
I wouldn’t be surprised if passengers got it first. Lol
dr henry acknowledged the feedback from shutting down restaurants without notice from new years eve
then goes and does exactly that again less than 3 months later...who wouldn't be fuming
how do you go from allowing worship gathering then just mere days later take it back? the variants community spread didn't just start happening last week. that's really not helping with trust in the health orders and 'doing our part'
So lets think for a moment and use some logic.
Let's say Bonnie gave out a notice that in two weeks restaurants must shut down for three weeks. What do you think would've happened? For that two week period droves of people are going to try to visit their favorite restaurants before things shut down.
that's a tough break - and an important consideration that I have not made.
i apologize if I have offended you.
No offense taken, it's been a stressful go the last bit so sorry if it came out that way. I just always find it weird that people point fingers at people that are more or less in the same situation and not at those who are actually screwing over all of us (more of a general sentiment, not specific to this).

two weeks is different than 48 hours which is different than 11 hours.

This is a pretty good example of those of us that are in the same boat, vs those that aren't. Theres those of us that give a shit about others, and those that don't. It only takes a few comments to see who belongs to which. People of all demographics have been fucked by all of this, and sometimes all it takes is a take from someone who’s not in the same position as us to think, “oh man this hit someone else a way I didn’t understand” as opposed to trying to put blame on that person for our problems.

we're not in the first several weeks of the pandemic anymore
decisions like this should have SOME consultation from the industry and find a compromise in a timely manner (48-72 hours?)
let's not kid ourselves these are not temporary...2 weeks turned into 5 months...30 day has turned into years, that's a lot of livelihoods gone and maybe never coming back
we didn't learn from wave 2 , so what different approach are they taking in wave 3?

I'm not going to argue if 48-72 hours would've made anyone happier. Point is giving any type of extended notice is doing more harm than good - that rush of people going to restaurants before restrictions will probably delay the lifting of restrictions.
Not temporary? Huh? You could've said that last year but that doesn't really make sense right now. We have 3 approved vaccines with millions of shipments coming by summer's end. The end is in sight.
I feel for the restaurant industry I really do. I support them as much as possible with takeout and have even dined in the last few months. Each time I dine in though there's numerous groups from different households eating at tables of 6. The only exception was Saku on Broadway and Octopus Garden, mostly tables of 2 setup.

I'll go back to what I said. You just don't get it. I also don't get what you have to deal with so I'll try and keep an open mind. Restaurants prep thousands of dollars worth of food 24-48 hours before they open based on projected sales. Thats means I ordered 5k worth of food instead of $1000. I scheduled 8 cooks instead of 3. I had to call 20 people to say they might not be able to pay their rent, mortgage, etc over the next bit. Those hours, days, etc. made a big fucking difference, again.

A heads up makes total sense for the industry (not to the public), that a close is on the table. Then when u announce a close, instead of being immediate, have it 2-3days from the day you announce it.
An immediate shutdown would make sense for a sudden outbreak/issue not a gradual one
It's how they do it elsewhere, like the UK/etc
And they do it that way just so businesses and ppl have time to prepare
Will it spur some to get out there for a last hurrah? Yes, but at least ppl won't be going bust from it
Big White ski resort is terminating its lease with the owner of the Charley Victoria restaurant. The owner that let that huge party of Big White staff, now former staff, happen.

It's still shocking how this government hasn't learned shit from the last time when they got a lot flack for suddenly closing restaurants down.
Everyone knows that restaurants have always operated on razor thin margins. Like westopher said, they order/prep food well in advance and to shut them all down without giving proper notice prior to a long weekend just seems stupid.
Even with 11 frickin hours notice there was a surge... my facebook news feed was filled with "LAST MEAL" posts that night
If it's gonna happen, might as well give the restaurants the break so they can push product out beforehand and offer some discounts or whatever to get rid of inventory/prep in advance.
French pharmaceutical company Sanofi Pasteur will run the centre. It is investing $455 million into this project, which is also receiving $415 million from the federal government.
Meanwhile, the Ontario government is contributing $55 million.
The project is expected to create or maintain more than 1,200 jobs, including 165 high-skilled positions.
The facility, which will be located on the Connaught Laboratories site, will not be fully operational until 2026.
Dunno if anyone is familiar with that Coquihala documentary but they basically planned, built, and opened the coquinala in somthing like 14 months. Cutting a 150km stretch through untouched mountains.
I know building a science facility like this and a highway is apples and oranges, but 5 years to build a building? :/ I guess it’s all planning and beauracy but still
