That’s what happens when you have to beg India for garbage vaccines?

underscore 04-06-2021 01:53 PM

Is the risk higher than COVID itself? Unless somethings changed recently wasn't the clotting something like 44 cases out of 9.2 million vaccinated? That's 0.0004%. If any of them sounded like they were doing actual research or talking to their doctors I wouldn't be so annoyed with them but it's just random crap based on nothing that ignores basic fucking math.

edit to use westophers numbers.

whitev70r 04-06-2021 02:55 PM

^ So if you were offered the AZ vaccine, you'd take it this afternoon?

It's just the drip drip drip news release raises concern. My bro is a Dr and he said, 'if you can wait, I would wait.'

Not an anti-vaxxer ... but I would personally wait.

Again, it is your choice ... don't piss on those who prefer to wait. There should be enough people who are willing to take the AZ vaccine.

RiceIntegraRS 04-06-2021 03:06 PM

sorry if its been posted earlier, i didnt see it but

how long is the wait for the pfizer or moderna shot? my parents are wanting the shot but they'd prefer those to over the AZ if possible.

TIA

Scroll down to Phase 3 and 4 and you will see the vaccination schedule for the general public:

The Producer 04-06-2021 03:16 PM

you know what would have been a better question on the sign up than "do you identify as indigenous?"

would you be willing to take the AZ shot at any time

they said at the beginning of this you wouldn't get to choose, now it turns out quite a few people don't like that requirement.

I've got no problem w people passing on their opportunity to get vaccinated - but back of the line please. if a few weeks isn't a big deal, just wait and go last.

Age data.

hud 91gt 04-06-2021 03:39 PM

Isn’t the concern hospitalization of young people, not just cases?

I saw a video of the corduroy owner today. I won’t lie, I boycotted that place about 8 years ago (I was an almost daily customer at one point since I live across the street). A single bad instance with a waitress, then a personal message to their management without reply and I was done....

But besides that, I can totally understand the owners frustrations, and although in no way do I condone her actions, how god damn stupid is she to carry her bloody baby with her in that crowded place. Risk your life, risk your customers whatever. They make their own decisions, but pretty sure my stubbornness (oh and I’m bloody stubborn) would give when I were to have a kid. What a piece of work, wow.

at this point the only thing any reporter should be asking is what are the roadblocks to getting more people vaccinated ASAP. supplies?, staffing?, vaccine hesitancy? etc.

speed the fuck up w the jabs. :fuckyea:

MarkyMark 04-06-2021 03:57 PM

If given the option is AstraZeneca anyone's first or second choice? I really don't blame anyone for not wanting to get it, as long as they are willing to wait for the shot they want and don't demand that they get it as soon as the AZ shot.

Like said earlier, I'm sure there's enough people out there who don't care what shot they get, so they'll get used up regardless.

Personally I'll wait until I know which one I'm getting beforehand, even if it makes me only feel 0.0000004% safer.

SkinnyPupp 04-06-2021 04:04 PM

I don't blame people for waiting on AZ. Same as Sinovac here. But if I was over 60 I'd just get it. The risk of getting really sick from covid is high, and the risk of passing it on to other oldies is high. Much more risky than the 44 people out of 10 million who got blood clots.

StylinRed 04-06-2021 04:38 PM

Isn't our AZ supply much lower than our Pfizer and Modern anyhow? Aren't most getting the pfizer/modern ones anyways?

westopher 04-06-2021 05:36 PM

Worth mentioning there are approximately 1.6 million people between 20-40 in the labour market.
There are 600k over 55.
Wonder if that has something to do with people 20-40 accounting for 40(ish)% of the cases?
No must just be all of us partying.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was developed in the UK.

Come on man.

whitev70r 04-06-2021 07:06 PM

The US 'gifted' us with 1.5 mill doses ... or maybe they just wanted to pass it on to another country.

People on the front lines health care, Emerge Dr's are reporting that right now, it's worst than it's ever been in terms of ICU, Covid wards full, except 20-55 yo on intubators, turned upside down in ICU ... not 65+year olds. This sh*t is for real ... up to you man what you want to do. I think for younger folks in that age range, this variant is mother nature saying ... it's your effin turn.

westopher 04-06-2021 07:10 PM

Well maybe people should take a fuckin vaccine with 0.00004% chance of blood clots (that aren't fatal) if they are so afraid of a virus with a 3% death rate?
I don't get what your angle is here.

Vancouver240sx 04-06-2021 07:11 PM

I look forward to the US completing their vaccinations (pretty soon) so we can get some.

Rich

hud 91gt 04-06-2021 07:14 PM

I’ve heard otherwise through the vines of Bonnie. Our numbers were just as high in November, but were reported differently. New strain, new spikes. Good, no. Media craziness, yes.

westopher 04-06-2021 07:16 PM

Thats an issue with the BC CDC/NDPs reporting, not the media. If they are mentioning things like that, and not making it common knowledge, that's a pretty notable breach of trust.

twitchyzero 04-06-2021 07:47 PM

every day the variants here are gaining momentum against the vaccintaion efforts

once every 65 & above gets a chance should they start at 30 then expanding up and down from that point?

feels like they are not adapting fast enough to the changing conditions...the phases setup was put in place 3 months ago and a lot has changed since

:fulloffuck:

i don't understand what you want us to do - take any vaccine that could avoid your scenario?, or don't take a vaccine and end up in your scenario?

which should I pick? those are my 2 choices. (edit: that's not true, I can't choose to take the vaccine yet, unless i push for a manufacturing sector waiver)

the 3rd choice of just magically avoiding the virus is a fallacy

SkinnyPupp 04-06-2021 08:27 PM

Also US isn't gifting the AZ vaccines, they're selling them to Canada. Because Canada needs them more urgently, and they aren't using them yet anyway, since that vaccine hasn't received emergency use exemption by the FDA yet (waiting for 3rd phase trial results)

I don't get what your angle is here.

People who have been saying they aren't worried about COVID but then go on to say they're worried about the vaccine boggle my mind. How difficult is it to comprehend which number is bigger? Why are you scared of a wee number and not a big one? You're 7500x more likely to die from the virus than to get a non-fatal clot. Figure it out.
