fk it - shut it all down
no pay for anybody tho (or, I submit my total lost earnings and get compensated in full)
if i have to lose another single penny, so should everybody else.
let's see how long the shutdown advocates last without a paycheque. think the tunes will change after a few weeks? I don't think a large portion of the population can make it a month.
get the vaccines in arms. pay the "burnt out" medical professionals x10 pay to work 24/7. The vaccine is, and always has been the ONLY way out of this. Every second counts.

What don't you get about delaying a vaccine if it is AZ? I know the risk is small but it is something being injected into you.
By delaying, I just live my careful Covid lifestyle till it hits my age group ... another 3-4 weeks?
The risk isn't 0.000004% vs. 3%, the risk is taking an increasingly questionable vaccine vs. waiting 3-4 weeks. Most people who are already careful and living with all the safety measures can easily keep it up for another month.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Just because the 55+ waits another 3 weeks doesn't mean they won't get AZ vaccine. You don't get to choose. Unless you show up and bail last second.

^ you'll get pfizer/moderna if you wait your turn
yep i don't get it either
this is not a boomer/generational issue
why take the risk when you're up for your age group in a month? US is one of the leaders in vaccination and if they haven't approved it why rush it, you're not suddenly getting back to normal a month earlier just because you have AZ first dose...we're all gonna be masking/distancing for basically rest of the year...borders aint opening up, economy will still be just as fucked by october-november whether or not you take an AZ dose this month

Feel free to not take the vaccine, but if you don’t, you’ve really got no leg to stand on about lecturing people how serious this shit is.
People don’t get the luxury of “living the careful covid lifestyle”
Not everyone who’s gotten it has gone around licking toilet seats and partying in big white. People have gotten it at work, schools, regular errands while doing their part and taking proper precautions. Shit happens.

Got my vaccine Wednesday last week.
Had sore arm through to Saturday.
Now have the fairly common side effect of expanded lymph nodes... mine are pressing on the nerve that runs down the arm.

biden will offer a vaccine to all adults down south in less than 2 weeks
shortly after i assume all 4 brands will come in ample supplies for canada/mexico
operation warpspeed has the rigour to throw out 15M batches of J&J like it's nothing (almost half of our population since it's 1-dose only), i think it's important to follow the updates of the FDA

45,000 people at a baseball game in Texas and we can’t get restaurants open with 5 people inside..

I love this country and this province but the way this whole thing has been handled...this is the first time in my life where I’m actively considering leaving Canada.

| We just don't live in the same reality. That's OK - i'm working on coming to terms with this.
for me, 4 more weeks (more like 8-10 ), when it could be over now carries an infinitely greater risk of disaster than 44 in 10 million. Either acquiring the virus myself and/or passing it on to somebody else. My lifestyle requires daily interaction w the public. Until I get shut down - I'm open
it's all moot, I'm not getting an early chance at it anyways. Every spare AZ vaccine was snapped up within 90 minutes the other day, by people who I assume also can't afford to wait.
best of luck my guy - I really hope that we all get out of this and get to have a laugh about it this summer. We can all have a beer standing around the facemask bonfire together. RS Summer Meet 2021

At the end of the day the only people who are going to make it shitty for others are the people who refuse to get any vaccine and/or don't wear a mask. Opting for which brand you want just changes who gets their shot first, not how many people get vaccinated overall.

In the last few days I’ve run into some, let’s say acquaintances
2 people were offered AZ and turned it down. The other 2 are going to simply turn down any vaccine going forward until there’s more long term data.
These people are not overly intelligent people. However, this seems to be a common sentiment now
Add to that, in the last month or so I’ve run into customers at work who are questioning whether or not people are even in the hospital..lol

Can someone explain to me how Texas is doing so well? Their cases are rapidly dropping 3 weeks after covid restrictions are lifted, no masks, no nothing. Vaccination only at 20% so far, is that all it takes for herd immunity to kick in? https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...vid-cases.html |

Just a guess, but could have lots to do with the fact like 12% of their population has already tested positive for it, couple that with a symptomatic infections and the vaccination being at about 20% fully vaccinated, they could be looking as high as 40% of their population having the antibodies now. Lots of people died to get there, and lots got sick.

too much media fear is gonna cost the dumb people risking their chances on permanent lung damage.
i know a close friend who got covid when it was almost first announced last year and 10 steps he was gassed out of breath at age 42 trying to do a simple walk after recovering.
doctors couldn't do anything for him but just saying continue to walk & gain strength up in the lungs was the only possible thing.
in his word it was "really severe chest pains … On about day eleven, I woke up at 5 a.m. thinking I was having a heart attack. I had severe, excruciating chest pains. It was just terrifying. I had a lot of physical pain, but when you multiply it with the emotional side of being ill"
