I've been lucky/unlucky enough to get to hear the COVID cases and the morbidities/mortalities as a result each day @ VGH.
I'm sure everyone has heard the reports, but she's definitely seeing way more people in our age group (30's) getting admitted into the ICU due to COVID. She was all down last night because one of her patients aged 32 ended being moved from acute care to the ICU yesterday.
Another 30-something actually passed away last night from COVID.
Many of these people though have underlying health issues (although not all).
The overall narrative still here is take care of your health -- If you're one of these people who sit on their ass all day, eat bullshit all the time, and whine and worry about COVID, you're a damn fool.
No one should be stopping their fitness regimes or allowing themselves to succumb to bad habits as a result of this pandemic (sitting around all day sedentary drinking beers, no exercise, poor diet, etc.)
Those habits are far more dangerous then COVID, and I've noticed many of these folks that are extremely fearful of COVID also living such unhealthy lifestyles, with little or no want to change that fact.
I find that so perplexing.

Is it though? I mean everyone knows being obese and eating sugar and shit leads to heart disease and diabetes etc but most people don’t understand the phrase “everything in moderation” or have been highly encouraged by the social movement celebrating everyone just being beautiful as they are... they just keep consuming and then cry when shit goes south for them.
Not that anyone should be crushed emotionally into fitness, but being fat simply isn’t healthy and that’s the end of it.

The difference is sugar, booze, fried foods, blow, etc makes you feel good.
I'd rather kill myself over 5 decades with shit that makes me have a good time than a disease that makes me stop breathing over a few weeks.
That said, I'm drug free (other than alcohol), and eat well, but I understand how vices are a shitload less scary than Covid.

The problem is being a fat slob also makes you more likely to get fucked up from Covid if you get it. I wonder how many people would have survived Covid if they weren't obese when they got it. Having vices and just not giving a shit about your health are different.

I find that so perplexing. | I've seen this with some of my friends who use to be quite fit and active. They don't go to the gym anymore (for good reason) and just sit on their asses all day.
Luckily I have a gym in my building which I have private access to based on booking to keep fit, with the weather getting nicer I'm also back to running to outside.

BCs handling so far can probably be chalked up to luck until this point. Now they have nothing really in place. The next 3 months will just be them throwing shit at a wall to see what sticks until people are vaccinated.

Pisses off the most is the Karen's who say they have a medical exemption and you can't force them to wear a mask. Apparently there was some big anti mask protest or some shit in dt yesterday again

It’s just stupid people that don’t like being told what to do. It’s like the republicans drinking a 40oz big gulp with 8 straws to “stick it to the libs”
People choose the weirdest stands today. Like that’s what matters most to you? Your right to not wear a mask, your right to straws, etc?

I'm gonna burn my wife's UBC degree cause it means nothing now that they give it useless ppl like these two.

I agree.
Horgan is no Hulk Hogan that's for sure when it comes to using his power to beat down someone or something like Covid.
Didn't Horgan use the term a "tonne of bricks" to describe a heavy handed approach to enforce provincial health orders?
Tonne of bricks is more like a truck load of Canada geese feathers.
There are strong Pokemon like Tyrannitar that throw bigger rocks in Pokemon raids than the pebbles that Horgan uses to combat the spread of Covid.

The rest of the world opens up, as the CDC warns against travel to Canada due to record number of cases and variants. Awesome.

Good, we deserve to be shamed how shitty our gov prioritizes things. So all these Karen's can shut the fuck up and can't go anywhere since they don't have their vaccination passports.

This just in: https://www.citynews1130.com/2021/04...ef-businesses/
TL;DR: Quote:
March 30 provincial health order and are eligible to receive between $1,000 and $10,000 in funding. The majority of eligible businesses will receive a grant of about $5,000.
| Yes, it's a drop in the bucket, but something is always better than nothing, right?
(On an unrelated note, yay to more provincial tax hikes later down the line~ But we'll worry about that when we get there...)

Wait until capital gains is applied to primary residences to pay for all this. That will be fun
