The spread of the p1 variant and b117 is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT the federal governments fault. There is zero reason for those to be here in the volume they are.

People can also just say "no thanks" to paying any fines. At our very core, our justice and enforcement system is broken. It worked and teetered on when everyone was getting along, but these situations shows we need reform and thats not something you can do with just a pen-stroke.

The whole Whistler spring break thing just blows my mind as well.
Like, last year one of the big reasons BC wasn't hit as hard as back east was because their spring break happened before ours and our initial closings and restrictions curbed our spring break.
You'd think they would have remembered that for this year, but fucking of course not.

If I understand it correctly, anyone over 50 could book for vaccine as of yesterday (Wednesday) and anyone over 45 can start booking tomorrow. Do we have any RSers over 50 who have booked? Was the process smooth?

They will contact you when you are eligible to book a vaccine appointment. They're currently sending booking invitations for people born in 1958 or earlier (63+). https://www2.gov.bc.ca/getvaccinated.html |

Father in law got his Pfizer shot today, says staff told him that there's a pause next week due to vaccine shortage. VCH.
You can't book until they send you an email allowing you to book. The registration puts you in the queue. MIL is waiting for the booking email. she's 2 years younger than FIL, and couldn't get booked at the same time.
My parents are under FHA, so they booked under the old system they had, not the provincial one, and got their first shots last week.

It’s perfect when you’re sitting down with a glass of wine and eating course after course, but it would seem kinda shit to take home small little containers that have slid around and made a mess (not to say it would taste any different but it’s kind of a detriment to the restaurant as a whole to present their food in this way imo) | Despite that it's still a decent experience getting fine dining at home, especially knowing you're supporting struggling restaurants. If anybody's been hesitant, I encourage you to try it.
Over the course of the pandemic I've ordered prix fixe and set menus from Mackenzie Room and say Mercy probably 8-10 times, including their take home kits that they had for awhile through collective goods.
Besides that I've ordered the tasting menu through Pidgin which was fantastic, as well as st Lawrence and l'abbatoir
There are pros as well, especially not worrying about parking or driving home after a full 8 course menu with individual drink pairings.
You can simply roll over to the couch and go straight to Netflix and chill.
A few pics from the Pidgin menu:

CBC News Alerts
@CBCAlerts
Update: Doug Ford has asked Jason Kenney to send healthcare workers to Ontario from Alberta to help, sources with knowledge of request tell CBC News. Alberta has not yet made any commitments, the sources say. Sources also say Ford has made a similar request to Sask.'s Scott Moe.
| I don't even know where to begin but I doubt healthcare professionals in Alberta want to go to Ontario.

Pretty sure anyone who could would leave Alberta at this point, but considering they are worse off than anyone right now, I don’t think they have the health care workers to spare.

They aren’t just sitting there with a thumb up their asses waiting to go to Ontario. They are all probably employed in private sector jobs or other parts of the country already. You don’t usually pass up moving for a 100k job to stay in airdrie.

I just remembered why I hate going on FB.
Clicked on a news article about the hospitals nearing capacity and the comments.
They hurt my brain.
It's the same comments that my coworker made.
News is fake, think for yourself. Hospitals aren't that busy. They fired a bunch of doctors and nurses to make the hospitals look busy.
I love this comment Quote:
Taking vaccinations can give u blood clots n blood clots can give u a stroke. n strokes kill.
| Covid has a higher chance of blood cots, dumbass.

Yay, finally some more good news from Turd. https://www.citynews1130.com/2021/04...ne-deliveries/ Canada new agreement to secure additional 8 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine between May and July
Canada getting 4 million additional Pfizer doses in May, another 2 million in June, and 2 million more in July
News of additional Pfizer vaccine doses comes as Canada told incoming Moderna shipments are being cut nearly in half
“For next month alone, this will come out to about double the Pfizer doses we were originally expecting. All told, we’ll be receiving eight million doses in May and almost 12 million in June from Pfizer alone,” Trudeau explained.
“Here’s the bottom line. More doses arriving sooner means more people getting their vaccines faster. And that means more people who are safer and more families that can breathe a sigh of relief,” he added

Just depressing all around frankly. If the GOOD news is that we are getting 8 mill doses of Pfizer ... seems to indicate shitty times ahead! Virus is here to stay, annual vaccinations, 5th, 6th, 7th waves, ... oh man!

Your thoughts on this article about the Canadian Medical Association supporting extreme measures to combat the spread of Covid variants? https://www.citynews1130.com/2021/04...ures-covid-19/
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Canadian Medical Association is calling for extraordinary measures to get the COVID-19 situation under control, as some parts of Canada see a record number of new infections and hospitalizations
CMA says feds should consider reprioritizing vaccine distribution to send doses to provinces in need over per-capita
Medical association calls for provinces to work collaboratively to address pandemic and impacts on healthcare
Sharing of resources and 'acting as one' is what's needed at this critical time, says Canadian Medical Association Question: If you were Prime Minister for a week, what extreme measures would implement with the help of all Premiers in every province and territory? How far would you go to protect all Canadians from Covid and its variants?
Examples:
Invoking martial law under the Wartime Measures Act? Immediate ban on all flights to and from all countries with high daily Covid cases? Example: India.
Ban interprovincial non-essential travel?
I am curious to hear your replies to this question. Be armchair PM for a week.
