When the border is open I feel like the CBSA may have me publicly executed for bringing back a 6 pack and a tin of snus. Can’t imagine they aren’t going to be paying attention this time around if they can make a deal out of it.

Got my jab at BCIT.

Just pulled up to a tent in my car, got my info taken, got the injection, then pulled up to a waiting location for 15 minutes.

Much better than waiting inside a hallway (BGH) or small room (Fortius) with two dozen people like my parents did.

G 05-18-2021 06:11 PM

Might be off-topic but can anyone lead me to any cheaper KF94 masks? Been swapping between Surgical and KN95 depending on the occasion and want to try out KF94, anyone have any thoughts on them?

mb_ 05-18-2021 08:09 PM

Got my Pfizer shot yesterday, arm hurts like a bitch today and feeling so tired lol

Oops, thought it was the US saying that you couldn’t go anywhere else besides get your vaccine... :fail:

Traum 05-18-2021 10:31 PM

So Trudeau is saying we need 75% vaccination before the Canada-US border would reopen.

My first thought was -- great... if we go by that, then basically it means our Canada-US border will remain closed forever... FailFish

Do you guys actually think we can get the vaccination rate up that high?

Maybe everywhere other than Alberta LUL

Hondaracer 05-19-2021 05:50 AM

Quebec saying they already have 75% of people with the first shot and will allow people to go to the Habs playoff games etc.

Weird, Quebec got enough shots to get their citizens to that threshold? Who’d of thought..

I’ve been back and fourth across the border a few times lately at the airport. Claiming exemptions above the limit and they haven’t even been asking what I have. Too preoccupied with the lineups, and other COVID apps they have to deal with. May be lucky.

That can't be right. Everywhere I'm reading has Quebec at 50% at best.

twitchyzero 05-19-2021 07:35 AM

i predict 45% fully vaccinated 60% 1st dose
75% 1st dose is probably juts a goal and not a black and white criteria

CKNW was reporting yesterday that 75% of Quebec residents have either had a first shot, or have an appointment for first shot. But I’d assume they aren’t taking into account 20% of the population having an appointment

Ipsos reed said that BC residents had almost a 90% commitment to getting a vaccine. So we will see if those numbers actually hold true

westopher 05-19-2021 07:47 AM

Is ipsos Reid reporting that number as a poll or actually based on numbers of people registered? If that’s registered that’s awesome. If it’s just a poll, I wouldn’t put much stock in that number

Hondaracer 05-19-2021 08:01 AM

I don’t think they do anything but polls. And as many people say, the people who are home to answer a poll generally don’t represent the general population lol

westopher 05-19-2021 08:07 AM

I think a lot of people want to get vaccinated but honestly are either too lazy or also many (some through no fault of their own) are just incapable of getting the vaccine appt. sorted out. I know it’s not hard, but lots of people just don’t have the general understanding of how to get things done.

Interestingly, Saskatchewan seems to have overtaken Alberta as the biggest redneck province in terms of COVID vaccine aversion:

https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/corona...week-1.5433604

Look at the chart in the middle of the article and you'll see how vaccine hesitancy has changed over time among the Canadian provinces.

westopher 05-19-2021 10:47 AM

Alberta has a pretty decent portion of it that has more critical thinking skills than a toaster between edmonton and Calgary. It’s just got a big portion of loudmouth idiots that make it seem dumber.

inv4zn 05-19-2021 10:56 AM

Just as an FYI, if people didn't know, there's a BC Government developed app specifically for health services.

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/g...g-in-with-card

It essentially pulls from a database of your health records, including most if not all medical history you have in BC. Shots, doctors visits, prescriptions, anything where your PHN was used, is accessible through the app. It also apparently updates in real time to when your estimated second shot will be. They're also working to get Lifelabs/BC Bio lab results, so that's probably useful as well.

There's a somewhat silly verification process where you have to send a video of yourself following prompts in the app before you have access, and it takes a few hours to verify because apparently it's all done by humans - but I guess that's a good thing for security.

This stuff is already accessible through the website (with the same verification requirements), so it's not any more of a security risk than what is already online, and if you're worried about big brother spying on your phone, wait until you hear about FB/IG/Tik Tok.

Again, it's just a FYI thing if you're interested - I found it pretty cool.

Theres enough antivaxers in BC as well

We got 3 guys at work that will all not be getting the vaccine, because they "dont know whats in it"

Tell me more about how you guys are HVAC installers and would know what to do with medical ingredient info :derp:

westopher 05-19-2021 11:10 AM

Maybe they are onto something. “Proper ventilation prevents the spread bro.”

“Don’t know what’s in it”? Does that mean they don’t eat any form of processed food?

Funny you mention that, we were eating lunch, and one of the guys was drinking a "bubbly" unsweetened water or whatever it is, and i asked him if he knew exactly what every ingredient in the drink was, then we went down a deep rabbit hole that concluded in:
Artificial flavors are actually beaver butt sucrete

:fuckthatshit:

My cousin is a prime example....

anti vax and hates wearing masks in public stores so he only does curbside pick up now, everything he says is how Canada is communist and the government controls us with laws etc etc. Won't put a vaccine in him because he doesn't know what chemicals are in it, meanwhile he's at work and smoking shatter out of a vape pen. Pure logic.
Had to tell him to quit messaging me for a while. Got tired of reading all the stupid articles he would send me.

In his mind he knows more than microbiologists, nurses, doctors, mechanics yet works in a warehouse and never went to post secondary. I actually kinda wish he'd catch covid just to shut him up for a while... that's how annoying he's become.
