FDA approval may separate the anti-vaxxers with the group who identify as 'hesitant'. Some in hesitant group have been waiting for something like this. True anti-vaxxers will still hold out.

The issue I have with this is now enforcement ends up in the hands of some poor underpaid front door staff of restaurants, bars, movie theatres, etc because the government hasn’t been able to do their job of putting things in place. I’d truly like to get out of the industry I’m in based on the fact I’m going to be the one that has to go punch someone in the face because they spit on some 20 year old that wouldn’t let them in a restaurant.

I’m sure exemptions are in place. Realistically it’s those people we really should be willing to sacrifice some things to protect instead of the anti vax fucks who constantly use people like that as an example of covid not being that bad “because underlying health conditions are why people are dying”

can almost guarantee it will be a nightmare for them.
Honestly as a restaurant etc. Why should those people making trash wages working the door try to decipher a doctors note etc.? I would just instruct my employees that if you don’t provide the exact document required by the govt. you’re not coming in period.
Also if you can’t get vaccinated due to conditions or compromised immune systems, the places checking for vaccination status probably aren’t the best places to be if you’re concerned for your health.
Really hope you can just use that BC services card app and not have to carry the physical card around :/

to be actually effective it's going to have to be a QR or tap or whatever. which means every business is going to need to acquire some way to read that.
then you have compliance issues for the business owners as well. i have no intention of asking my customers to show proof of vaccine to enter my store.
i'm not stoked to be on either side of a passport requirement.

I think it will be common place as there's no point of having mandatory vaccines for employees if you still make them interact with the anti Vax, from what I've read based on what employment lawyers are saying, businesses can require vaccine cuz they "have to provide a safe work place for employees and customers."
So the same logic will apply if you let unsafe customers in it will risk employees and your customer's health. An outbreak is bad for business and reputation.
Would you visit an establishment that is anti Vax welcome, mask off welcome? I don't think so, as it will alienate the normal vaxed customers.

My hunch is -- the provincial gov is just gonna make the checking part a low tech, manual thing that is pretty much based on the honour system. Either a customer flashes his paper vax card -- it could be the vax card that we got when we got jabbed, or it could be a e-card we can download -- there is already a PDF thing for the COVID vaccination that I can we can download from the BC Services phone app.
It isn't going to be any sort of QR code scanning or tap thing because that idea just isn't going to fly with businesses.

I'm not sure which establishments you have visited in the last ~2 months. I'm not aware of very many that aren't "mask off welcome". It's not a requirement in this province at this time.
so yes? I've frequented the establishments that you refer to numerous times (basically anywhere I've been since the start of this phase), and will continue to do so.
