How the fuck will this be enforced though? What happens if someone forgets their card at home, you're fucked then?
I see people who can barely figure out a damn QR menu at a restaurant, these people are going to figure out a QR code on their phone confirming vaccination?
How long will queueing into a concert or stadium take in order to visit an event when such confirmation will be required?
While I agree this is needed to some degree, this sounds like an absolute nightmare for the people who will have to enforce this rule. Mark my words, this will end up being another lofty wonky policy, that will not have any legs in actual practicality.
As someone else said, it'll end up being some quasi honor system that most establishments simply won't follow.
Good luck getting that 16 year old @ Cineplex to argue with an antivaxer that they can't enter the movie they bought tickets online ahead for
If you think the service/hospitality industry has taken a hit in terms of employees, wait til you see if that goes into effect.

It was usually clubs, or a weird place here that was technically a pub that tried to become a club. Think a pub that had music going at nightclub levels. Unsurprisingly it closed.

Hmm.
The first thing I thought about, what about our economy. 20% of BC residents are not vaccinated, I wonder how that will affect those who are going out and spending money, etc.
While I believe everyone should be vaccinated, I don't know how this will play out. It's a slippery slope when you start doing stuff like this.
I'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

This is what we were talking about like 400 pages ago in this thread... It's basically the opening plot to every Cyberpunk dystopian story. Create two classes out of necessity, the second class (the 20%) become disenfranchised. Drama ensues

Can’t wait for hospitals to require the vaccine passport. When asked why they’re not jabbed and they’re positive, tell them they can’t come in. They had their chance

Dr. B mentioned that the the vaccine passport cards are a "temporary measure"
This is a temporary measure that’s getting us through a risky period where we know that people who are unvaccinated are a greater risk of both contracting and spreading this virus,” B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said. “If there are those rare people who have a medical reason that they can’t be immunized – these are discretionary events, so they will not be able to attend those events through this period of high risk.”
I think her point is that the risky period that BC is in right now is because of the combination of unvaccinated BC residents and the Delta variant. Hence, the need for these vaccine passport cards.
The message for the anti vaxxers who still refuse to get the vaccine is this: Get two vaccine shots or risk living a harder life with many businesses preventing you from using their services.
Would anti-vaxxers risk trying to get a fake passport card by paying a techie to make a QR code or simply get the Covid vaccine shots for FREE?
I doubt that you can just make these digital vaccine passports on your own. This is not Photoshop 101.

To get in can be easily replicated.
I’ll give it a shot when they come out, haven’t used photoshop in a while

I'd honestly prefer that to the current decision.
You don't want the vaccine? Fine. You get covid? You don't get treated. Other diseases and heath issues? Of course you still get healthcare. Live your life, do what you want, everyone else does too. It's just a covid opt out option. You really believe that the disease is less dangerous than the vaccine, try your fuckin luck and take the bet.

A passport is just so the rest of us can have a return to normalcy
It's either a passport or back to stage 2/1 until "it's over"
How can it be enforced at movies/bars/events? Just like your drivers license or event tickets /shrug
Will there be fakes? Yes of course, we've seen that overseas, and even locally with those Americans giving fake vax details to cbsa
Will it be implemented and up n running soon? With BCs track record at everything? No it probably won't be

What's the current interval between the 2 shots? Are they still doing 7? 8? weeks?
The two dates they set - Sep 13 and Oct 24 is only 6 weeks apart, and they require u to be vaccinated 7 days prior. So that means for the absolute last minute jabbers, you need to have your second shot taken by Oct 17th....and that's only a month apart from Sep 13th.
Would been better off if they set a Aug 30th + Oct 24th or a Sep 13 + Nov 7th date.

Hey RS,
I just read the "How it works" of this new PHO. https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2021HLTH0053-001659
There's an expiry to this PHO
"The measures will be time limited through to Jan. 31, 2022, subject to possible extension."
I feel like this changes everything. I feel better that there is a time limit on this PHO. So it just means unvaxxed people just can't do a lot of stuff for the rest of the year.
I mean, it still kinda sucks for them, but it's just for a limited time.

Does anyone know if this will apply to churches?
It wasn't listed under organized indoor events. Is church considered an event?
