Everyone here is arguing over something trivial. The system wasn't designed to be 100% fool proof, it was designed to discourage the morons from mingling with the rest of the population.

Even if hurr durr Chan Wong wants to 'borrow' his cousin's best friend's wife's nephew's card just so he can eat at Red Robins, the number of such people getting into establishments is going to be greatly shadowed by 1) the unvaccinated who won't even try, and 2) the people weeded out at the door.

Everyone on here complaining about how shitty the system is, when in fact, not a single person here has complained about how the vaccine passport added 10 minutes to them being seated or front of house staff getting berated.

If they made it a full system where everyone QR code has to be scanned, everyone pulls off their mask, etc etc., you'd have a huge crowd at entrances, and it would be a clusterfuck.

The government came up with a best case scenario, and working off of statistics and probabilities that this method keeps everyone as safe as possible without fucking up restaurant lobbies.

Been to 3 restaurants today. Scanned phone, checked ID at each. Still haven’t come across anywhere that hasn’t asked me for both except the place I go once a week. They still asked my for both the first day it was enforced though.

Going to a hockey game on the weekend and I have to admit that I’m excited to be at a larger gathering where all 2500 people have the common sense to be double vaxxed :D

68style 09-27-2021 05:18 PM

Wow socialite, 3 restaurants by 4:30pm on a Monday

StylinRed 09-27-2021 05:27 PM

Oooo busy weekend, yikes

westopher 09-27-2021 05:39 PM

Lol we’re doing a night in Whistler.
Fergies in Squamish for brunch, fairmont hotel bar for a beer on arrival, basalt for an afternoon charcuterie board. On number 4 now at raven room. Same deal.
Restaurants are crazy understaffed up here too. Running limited menus and tons of extra hours closed.

^ as you go further north, less and less people to man the restaurants. I feel for them.
i can't wait to see how this ski season will turn out. HOly F... where are all the foreign workers eg// aussies / kiwis

Obsideon 09-27-2021 09:35 PM

I have a friend of a friend who was proudly showing off his fake QR code, and it actually works. It shows his name on the scanner as fully vaccinated. It worries me that it was so easy to create. I don't think he's particularly tech savvy or smart either.

Yup seriously understaffed. I frequently post on the Japanese and Korean versions of craigslist for foreign workers, literally zero applicants.
We have had to cut our hours too cuz our chefs are getting burnt out.

Do some people reply saying that they'll work for cash? Heard this was a phenomenon; people working for cash so they could collect cerb.

Maybe it's time to start importing workers.

East Fraser Valley back to stricter restrictions

twitchyzero 09-28-2021 11:10 PM

how many times have they told us to be patient

Can & US can't even get border dates lined up but Bonnie actually believes external health agencies will standardize across the board? LOL

British Columbia won’t be offering third doses of COVID-19 vaccine to those with mixed immunizations

She asked the public to be patient as the province undertakes the work of ensuring those with “mixed vaccine schedules” are considered fully-immunized across the globe

Not offering a booster or 3rd mRNA shot for those that stepped up to take the AZ is a pretty unfortunate decision I feel. I'm sure there are reasons, but it sets a pretty bad precedent for the future. It just makes it so much harder for leaders to ask people to again "take whatever is available first"

blkgsr 09-29-2021 09:42 AM

if this mix thing ends up fucking me down the road i'm gonna be pissed.....i see someone (and me joining) starting a lawsuit against the bc and federal government

westopher 09-29-2021 10:04 AM

I wonder how that could play out. It’s definitely their fault but I could see it ending up that there’s no recourse as it’s other countries/jurisdictions that are making the rules that affect you.
Either way they have vaccines now so I don’t understand why they aren’t rectifying the situation. It’s a big fuck up.

Hondaracer 09-29-2021 10:45 AM

They recommended you get a vaccine that wasn’t approved for use in other countries now they “wait and see” what countries that haven’t been using that vaccine will do? Lol

I already know two people who had to cancel trips because of this and my dad is choked because he got AZ and Pfizer and now he’s having trouble planning future travel.

Bonnie knows best!

Anyone questioning the mixing had people jumping down their throats and it played out basically exactly how those people thought it would.

westopher 09-29-2021 11:16 AM

The goal of the vaccine was still first and foremost preventing people from getting sick though, not travelling. No one questioning the vaccine was like “what about my travel plans?” They we’re mostly about how they’d die from the vaccine and the “flu” couldn’t hurt them.
On a different note but one that could be related in regards to countries we could travel to, Denmark, Singapore and Ireland are lifting all restrictions, with the premise that we aren’t getting rid of the virus, so just deal with it. Wonder how far away it is for us?
No vaccine mandates. You want to die, go ahead.
The only concern I have with that is that people who can’t be vaccinated(very few) and people waiting for elective surgeries will suffer, but they are also telling you not to go to the hospital for covid if you aren’t about to die from it.

What's worse is there are stories of Murican's who do not regret their non-vaxxed stance on their death beds.

They claim it is their choice, right or wrong, their choice to make.
